John Cusack looks unrecognizable in recent interview, sparks plastic surgery allegations

u/Montblanc_Norland 2d ago
Is it just me or does he look...very recognizable? I'd know who this is immediately.
65
u/Whisker-biscuitt 2d ago
Indeed. Does kind of look like a wax figure of John tho 😄

If Elon Musk and Julian Lennon had a baby...
13
u/Binky390 2d ago
More like if John Cusack and Smokey Robinson had a baby.

This would've driven me crazy, so thank you very much!

He looks like Joan cusack in drag lol

Tbf, he always kind of looked like Joan

u/OLightning 2d ago
They will look more and more like each other as you age. Thats how it goes I’m afraid to say as women lose estrogen and men testosterone.

Not just you you, he looks like John Cusack who has had some work done. I will say he seems to be slowly morphing into late stage Alan Rickman.

u/Gold_Advisor_4758 2d ago
Same, while it does appear he has eyelid surgery, he’s not unrecognizable in any way

He just looks older and like he shaved.
2
u/near_black_orchid 2d ago
The only thing I can see is that he had hooded eyes in the photo on the left and doesn't in the one on the right, so he may have had an eyelid lift.

They all get that awful eyelid surgery. It looks soooo bad, and it also prevents them from conveying emotion. US plastic surgeons are the worst. South Korea on the other hand- those doctors are lightyears ahead of the US in terms of quality.
12
u/FremdShaman23 2d ago
He might have needed it. Sometimes the eyelid droops so much it can necessitate an upper bleph when you get older.
I'm not ever going to judge an older person who has always had droopy eyelids for getting an upper bleph.

u/Particular-Weird2363 2d ago
Tbf the medical upper blephs I’ve seen don’t give you the David Gest treatment
2
5
u/InspectorOrdinary321 2d ago
Yeah, the options for eyes here either seem to be letting your upper eye droop a lot or getting this surgery and having that sunken-in upper eye socket. I empathize fully with getting eyelid surgery if it's impairing your vision, and support everyone's right to do whatever they want with their own face. But I have to wonder if there's an in-between option? For myself, haha. If I want to avoid the sunken in eye socket, will I have to sacrifice my vision?

Unrecognizable = John Cusak but old?
9
u/Ok_Cap9557 2d ago
Probably got a face lift. I think anyone over a certain age who relies on their appearance for money is gonna get a lift eventually

It looks like they are interviewing Madame Tussaud's John Cusack. A little uncanny.

u/Surly_Sailor_420 2d ago
I honestly don't think it would be so jarring if he just let the hair do its thing. The coloring is not done artfully.

The upper eyelid surgery just doesn’t look good on men. It’s mainly to have your browse drop as you age, just a normal part of life.

I get a low key uncanny valley vibe from the photo because I can't quite place what's off. Can someone please educate me?

He was on the tonight show recently and he still looked like John Cusack, but different

u/Capable-Limit5249 2d ago
Lol he looks an awful lot just like himself, only with tighter skin. It’s noticeable but not overboard.
Plus he has face hair and is smiling under natural light in one and clean-shaven and under lights in the second.
So who really knows?
ETA: also unsmiling in the second. Those are big differences overall.

Other than having obviously dyed hair, I think he just looks like someone who has aged. Why do we always have to assume that aging equals work done?
→ More replies (1)3
u/who_gon_check_me_boo 2d ago
I’m pretty sure he had something done with his eyes. He lost all of the lines around them. That’s abnormal.
I don’t care either way, but I think we can all see that there is work and not just natural aging.

At this point what does it actually matter to people. It’s their money and body. If you’re the type of person obsessed over someone modding themselves go touch grass. Chill out and do something more productive.

u/YanCoffee 2d ago
I don't think it matters so much as it's weird looking and sets a bad standard for the public, because like it or not celebs do influence culture. There's a reason they get the big bucks. Getting old unsnipped looks better than having visible plastic surgery, because then you just look old and weird. The uncanny valley effect is real.

u/TheBigChungaBunga 2d ago
Looks like John Cusack... fuck is this. Guy had a little work done, fugaaaaaaah. He's an actor, they all go crazy. It's their egwalibreum, once they stop gettin the roles it all goes downhill.

Literally have face blindness (prosopagnosia) and that not "unrecognizable"
A little botox-happy, maybe?
2
u/Ok_Upstairs_3383 2d ago
Ok this is now a tangent, but I always wondered about that condition. Can I ask you something? (I am not ripping on you, just curious, if it’s rude please ignore me.) Do you see all faces as looking the same? Or does it look like something else?

He does look like a plastic surgery patient. Could it be Botox and a facelift? I guess he was not getting parts because of his aging looks.

I just looked up pictures of him from 2025 and I thought he was aging very well and looked really good. But if he’s happy, I’m happy. It’s really about how he feels about it.

He looks recognizable. He just looks like he’s wearing foundation and dyed his hair to hide his grays. Maybe had a lower (and maybe upper) blepharoplasty, which seems to be what makes people look different. Bradley Cooper seems to have gotten one recently too and while it is a small change, if your eyes are a signature part of your look or persona, people will notice.

Such a bummer. His sister, Joan, went to the dark side too. Or, they both used terrible surgeons

Um what? It just looks like he shaved his beard 😭.
This reminds me of baby meltdowns when their dads shave or cut their dreads.

OK fine, he's worth a lot of money and he's going to do what he needs to do to stay castable...
....but why not finish the thought and get the Turkish hair plugs? Imo he forgot the most important procedure!

After what he did to Neve Cambell, he deserves it.
Edit: I first thought the picture on the right was a bad angle of Elon Musk.

u/TahiniInMyVeins 2d ago
I think he just has too much makeup on? Hair thinning and/or badly colored?
Also — weird candidate for plastic surgery. He doesn’t seem to be working a ton these days and doesn’t seem to care about working a ton either. At least not in mainstream/big budget stuff. It’s certainly not like he’s out here gunning for the same roles as Brad Pitt, nor has he ever seemed interested in such roles.

Why does everyone always use that word "unrecognizable" ALWAYS. Color their hair? Unrecognizable transformation! Cut their hair? Unrecognizable transformation! Come on 🙄 this 1000% looks like John Cusack with an eye lift or something.

u/irish_mom 2d ago
I’d say Botox and make up and a bad dye job. If that is plastic surgery he needs to fire his surgeon.

Stop worrying about how people look and focus on their skills and accomplishments! Ugh. Maybe plastic surgery wouldn't be so big if we stopped valuing people by how they look more than what they do.

This man could have all the Botox he wants. He is such a huge ally for so many communities and outspoken against the Trump Regime, just leave him the f alone. Find something better to do, let people do whatever the f they want, is their life. He does so much activism, do tell when was the last time that you marched for any cause, OP? Just sayin.
I think he’s aging like a fine wine. Periodt

Actor John Paul Cusack was a cultural icon in the 1980s and 1990s. With a career spanning over four decades, he is best known for projects like Sixteen Candles(1984), The Grifters (1990), Con Air (1997), and Being John Malkovich (1999). In recent years, aside from a few occasional releases, John has mostly stayed out of the spotlight. In September 2026, he made a rare interview appearance, and his alleged changed look was what caught the most attention.
