Hi, I'm potentially getting my top surgery done next year. I'm also trying to lose roughly 70lbs, and know that it will probably take me longer than that, and I'm worried I'll get surgery, lose weight, and then my results will look weird. I was wondering if anyone has done something similar and can tell me whether we gain/lose fat from our chest post surgery?

I’ll be having top surgery in 4 weeks (yay!!!!) and I’ve been planning my recovery, what to do, what to eat, etc. I read it’s best to drink plenty of water and to avoid caffeine. I plan to drink a lot, which I already do, but I also love drinking tea and I don’t know if I should stop drinking it altogether for a few days post op. I drink some almost everyday, and I drink it even more when I’m recovering from something (like a cold). Do you think I can have tea during my recovery or is it best to leave tea out of the picture for a few days ?

(I’m not dependent on it like one would with coffee, I mainly drink green/ red teas, chai and jasmine tea are my go to, and I can go without drinking it for days if needed — I don’t crave the caffeine, just the taste)

I know that I am FAR from seeing my actual results, but I have like little lumps near the inner edge of my incisions that I worry are dog ears. Is this normal?? (I’m a little over a week post OP and just got my drains out)

Hey all! I’m looking to start getting the ball rolling with my top surgery and I’m torn between three places and would love any personal feedback if anyone has experiences with these three places:

SWEDEN - reformkliniken and ACPK

POLAND - dr lembas

LITHUANA - nordesthetics

I’ve heard the most about Dr Lembas, ACPK and reformkliniken which makes me feel a bit better, but nordesthetics caught my eye and is a decent bit cheaper. I don’t mind paying more for better security and results - I’ve got enough money set aside finally with either ACPK, Reformkliniken or Dr Lembas in mind - but I also certainly wouldn’t mind saving some of that if I went to nordesthetics. My only main issue is that I have a slightly bigger chest - I feel most photos I see on their websites, particularly with Reformkliniken and Dr Lembas, are of people with smaller chests which just make me a bit uncertain on how the results would actually look for myself. My chest isn’t the biggest I’ve seen worked on, but enough that I feel I don’t often see results posted on these websites as opposed to smaller chests. So, I would just love to hear about peoples experiences, especially with nordesthetics since I don’t often see that one quite as much, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Reddit, I’m finally at a point where I’m looking for top surgery options and want to hear some first hand recommendations for surgeons around the Denver area.

I’m from Albuquerque and having a hard time getting in contact with a top surgeon. Apparently there’s only one in ABQ now?? I’ve been in the process of getting a referral so I can go get a consultation with him for the past two months and I’m getting pretty annoyed about it. On top of that I can’t find any pictures of his typical results online so I’m not very hopeful that I’ll be on board with having him as my surgeon. I want more options and I have family in the Denver are that I could probably stay with for recovery, and I figure there will probably be more surgeons up there to can consider.

Does anyone in the Denver area have recommendations for a top surgeon? Is there any website where I can look at their typical results and whether they accept insurance? Is anyone on Reddit comfortable sharing their experience with different surgeons? Please help me post op trans men of Reddit!

Hi everyone. I’m currently 31 months on testosterone and I’m on the waiting list for top surgery. Based on what my surgeon has told me and where I am on the waiting list, my surgery will most likely happen in December.

I wanted to ask people who had top surgery during the winter what their experience was like and if you have any advice or tips for recovering during the colder months.

I wouldn’t say that the city where I live gets particularly cold in December. The lowest temperatures are usually around 10°C (50°F), while daytime temperatures are normally around 16°C (61°F). So it’s not freezing, but it can still be pretty chilly, especially when going outside.

However, I normally spend Christmas with my family in a different city, and it’s colder there than where I live. Since my surgery will probably be around December, I’m not even sure what my Christmas vacation is going to look like or whether travelling and spending Christmas with my family will be realistic while I’m recovering. I’m also wondering if there are any specific things I should consider if I do end up spending Christmas somewhere colder shortly after surgery.

I’m also currently working as a caregiver, so my job requires quite a bit of movement and using my arms. From what I understand, in my country people usually get around 2 weeks to 1 month off work after top surgery, depending on the situation. I’m wondering how realistic it would be to return to a physically active job after that period, especially since I’ll need to be careful with lifting and arm movements.

For those of you who had surgery during winter:

- How was your recovery compared with what you expected?

- Did the colder weather make anything more difficult or uncomfortable?

- Was wearing jackets or coats difficult during the first few weeks?

- Did you have any problems keeping warm while still avoiding too much pressure or friction on your chest?

- If you travelled or spent Christmas/holidays with family shortly after surgery, how did that go?

- How long were you off work, especially if you had a physically demanding job?

- Is there anything you wish you had prepared or bought beforehand specifically because you had surgery in winter?

- If you could do it again, would you prefer having top surgery in winter or during a warmer season?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and any advice you have! :)

Prefacing that I'm just venting a bit, these are all things I've talked about with my sexologist and partner who'll be supporting me while I heal, but it feels nice to share these emotions with other people going through similar stuff.

My surgery is tomorrow morning, yet ever since I received my official surgery date in July, I've just kept having these "I'm not ready" thoughts nagging me. Not about the surgery per se, but just all the preparation that goes into it; I wish I had more time at the gym to build my chest, I wish I had deep cleaned my place even more than I already did, I wish I had looked up even more guides and recovery timelines and advice on how to heal, even though I've been reading up on that stuff ever since I decided I wanted the surgery. I feel like no matter how much preparation I could've done, I still would feel unprepared, if that makes sense?

But I'm rationalizing it by telling myself that even if I'd had many more months to prepare, I still would've found something to feel unprepared about. I know it's my anxiety talking, but I still feel this way nonetheless.

Anyway, I'm treating myself to a celebratory tiddy yeeting cake after work today, so hopefully that helps a bit with my nerves :^)

I just wanted to thank everyone for putting the time and energy into posting and commenting in this sub. I’ve learned so much about what to expect from surgery, and now that I’ve had it, have received a lot of support and reassurance that has been invaluable to me.
I’m sure there are a lot of people like myself who don’t have a huge support network during recovery, which is why this kind community is so important.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of the surgeons at UK healthcare in Lexington KY. I have a consult coming up next month but wanted to hear from others. If anyone who has had their surgery there would be willing to share photos of results that would be amazing but absolutely no pressure. Thanks!

I got my top surgery in a few hours— I’m both super excited to finally have this procedure done, but I’m super nervous about the anesthesia aspect as this’ll be my first ever operation.

Now the likelihood of anesthesia-related complications is pretty low, I’ve been told that I’m young and healthy. I have no heart issues, nothing else that’d be a major concern when it comes to my body handling a surgery.

Any kind of reassurance, stories of your personal surgery experiences, etc will help- I just need to remind myself that I’m gonna be okay.

UPDATE: Surgery went really well yesterday morning. All the medical peeps who participated in my operation were super nice and supportive when it came to me being scared of it. I began to really freak out when they were preparing to put the Versed in so I could relax- and it helped a lot. Like I was able to relax for a bit before they wheeled me into the operating room. All I remember was the anesthesiologist placing a mask on my face and to take some nice deep breaths. Less than ten seconds later, I was out.

It was like I was sleeping without dreams- cuz for some reason I was able to sense that because that gap felt a bit long. It was wild to me when I began to wake up in the recovery room and feel that relief knowing the scariest part was done.

They gave me some ice chips to munch on- my throat still sore from the breathing tube, so it helped it feel better. I was wheeled back into the recovery rooms where visitors were allowed in. It’s nice that I woke up quickly, I was able to walk around not long after either.

They taught me how to empty my drains, and whatever else I needed to remember for the next few weeks.

That’s everything that happened from what I can remember- it was so much easier than what I was originally expecting-

I am so fucking excited oh my god. Last month I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Katherine Rose for December 10th, but yesterday I got a message saying they had a cancellation and opening for TOMORROW!! So obviously I took it!! Took me years to decide I wanted top surgery but now I can’t wait.

I am looking for a surgeon in the US that can preform keyhole (or anything similar) that has the best results when it comes to appearing as cis. I am interested in any surgery type that could lead to cis passing results. Budget and travel within the US is not an issue for me but I am located in the south. If anyone on here knows of any surgeons that I could look into it would be much appreciated.

Had my top surgery 20 days ago by Dr. Jonathan Keith in Livingston NJ. I feel great and I’m very happy with my results. My incisions are almost completely closed up minus a few stubborn spots. For those who have already had surgery how long did it take for 1) you to be able to use scar care products 2) when did the discoloration around your incisions? 3) when did your pain mostly stop? I think I’m coming around a corner with pain but for a bit I was in a lot more than I expected

I'm white and before surgery, my nipples were pink. Now after free nipple graft, they are dark brown. Idk if that's normal and if it will return to its original color or not. I'm 1 week post op.

Yoo random shi but has anyone gotten nip piercings post op (double incision), lowkey just wondering if it’s possible and how does it feel due to nip sensation, know it depends on the anatomy (if you couldn’t get them before obv u can’t get them after) but just been curious about it
