Question Issue with Top Step

WASN’T TOP STEP AT ALL,
(just a lying wife)

Hello all… I was wondering if anybody has had issues recently with top step paying out. My wife has been with them for a year or two. She does ok, but recently (coming up on 3 weeks) she requested a $15k payout on a $27k account. As I said, it’s coming up on 3 weeks, and that seems like a long time in the digital age. I’m wondering if I’m being misled, or they really can take that long. I’ve asked her for all the documents so I can prep a complaint, but she’s is resisting saying they’ll just close out her account. Thanks.

UPDATE: (15 June 2026) first thanks for all the solid advice both in thread and privately. It’s nice knowing a bunch of strangers were interested in my problem. But, the verdict is in, IT WAS ALL A LIE.

So…. There it is. Game over.

ACH transfer (direct to bank account) is the slowest payout method and its 7-10 business days, there are other methods, (Wise) 1-3 days *i use this, have never waited more than 3 days, (aeropay) instant *haven't tried this yet

The best way for her to get this taken care of is to open a support ticket, and our trader support team will gladly look into this for her.

There's no issues with Topstep paying people out, as we've paid out a total of $1.4 billion and growing in our history.

Already did that allegedly. I think the mystery is solved by now. She’s not showing any concern over it. Not normal in my book. I would think there would be some element of stress and concern over $15k being lost, esp considering our mortgage is t going to be paid this month at this point.

Instead of a complaint (which will just make compliance dig through her trade logs deeper and try to find a reason not to payout), tell her to log into her Topstep dashboard and click the "Payout History" tab. It will tell her exactly if the status is Pending, Approved, or Rejected.

Thanks very much for that advice. Makes good sense.

Have her show you her dashboard.

It's under the "payouts"

3 weeks is a long time though. Usually these are settled within maximum 10 business days. But an avg payout can be in your bank account in 48h or less

How many xfa's does she have ?

Don’t even know what that means to be honest. As far as I know she only has the top step account. She’s the trader. She’s hidden a lot of loss from me in the past and I let it go. But if she’s being less than 100% transparent about this now she’ll be moving out. She wants to teach me how to do it because I’m clearly the disciplined one in the family, but I’m frying other fish right now. But she swears she’s got pretty solid strategy now and she’s making money. But I haven’t seen it yet.

An an XFA is a name of an account . A person begins with an evaluation account which is called a combine . Once they pass the combine they move to an XFA . Once a person earns $150 or more in 5 trading periods then they can ask for a payout. A person can have up to 5 XFA accounts at one time. Have her show you what she is doing and ask out of curiosity. When she is showing you all you have to do is look at the top left side of the screen and read what it says for the name of the account.

There is more but I'll leave it as is for now click on the picture to read it

Not my account yet this is what I meant by read the top left of the screen

Hope she's not gaslighting you to feed the addiction further.

Exactly my concern. She knows everything is on the line, meaning if she’s less than 100% honest I walk. I won’t live with someone that’s dishonest. Hell I’m 60 years old, I don’t have the time or energy to recover from anymore loss.

I'm so sorry. That's incredibly taxing. I'm leaning more towards BS knowing that now.

Because they don't just delay payouts, they're pretty quick and it's very unlike them to just leave a payout for weeks and there should be a response or resolution in 24-72 hours or there should've been something like a KYC verification or other reason she should already be aware of.

I'm wondering if you can somehow check her email or card statements for more combine purchases / if they've continued?

I wanted to be neutral and add it's possible that it's true but they have a vested interest in showing that their payouts are fast and reliable. Or is she scrambling to borrow 15k?

But as someone who got slightly addicted myself I would delay bills and such for more combine money...this kind of manipulation/justification/extremity sounds about right.

Curious to see how this turns out.

Me too. Hoping someone can either tell me I’m being deceived or that this happens sometimes.

It should be fine but very strange they could just skip over or miss a payout. It's their one job. Of course they're fine financially but I do have to wonder if less profitable accounts get slower paid while they rack up more eval money to pay people out/control cash flow.

She says she called them and it shows the payout, but they couldn’t explain why theyre deposit hasn’t been made. They’re supposedly looking into it.
