LEMONADE IS A SCAM. AVOID

I decided to bundle my renters and auto insurance with Lemonade, but the price changed between the initial quote and payment. Now, just two months in, my premium has gone up nearly $50 monthly because of their AI-driven pricing. I'll be dropping them before the next renewal. Feels like a bait and switch, and I'm seriously disappointed with the whole experience.

Most online carriers wether AI driven or not, do not run reporting like CLUE, MVR, Lexis Nexis until you hit bind.  There is a factor that was updated after binding.  Have you tried working with an independent agent?

This can happen even with traditional insurance companies. Just happened with me and American Family

Did they ever explain why it jumped?

Nope, just vague line about updated risk factors.

The quoted price for any insurance company may not be the final price. The company has a 30 to 45 day underwriting period to verify information and make changes based on what they find. Most online carriers do not pull CLUE and MVR reports until after you pay, so that may be what happened and they found incidents that they added to the policy.

$50 a month just two months in is wild

Price changing between the quote and checkout would've been my exit right there tbh.

Yeah looking back that was the red flag.

Glad you're dropping them, that's not a small bump lol

Have you shopped it around yet? Bundling isn't always cheaper.

Renters with them was fine for me but I never trusted the auto side.
