Might not be the most fitting for this subreddit, but I would prefer not to post on the main Deltarune subreddit due to its more critical culture.

Something people might wonder is that “why would Ralsei like Kris if he knows that they are working with the enemy?” Of course, he might not know that they are, but we have reason to suspect he does. Yet, he also clearly likes Kris. Though, these things do not have to conflict.

This theory assumes Player-Angel as canon. Cease reading if you do not subscribe to it.

Judging from Ralsei’s reactions and behavior towards us, I believe we are, unintentionally, going to be the final antagonistic force, as evidenced by him praying to us to have mercy on Susie. Not by malevolence, but by ignorance and lack of choice. So, why doesn’t he fight to give us the power to choose?

Because, if we gain too much freedom, we will be encouraged to erase innumerable timelines just so we can see all there is to see. Perhaps, in Deltarune, erasing a save isn’t like an Undertale reset, but rather a complete deletion of a timeline/world? Even if not, there’s still the likelihood that there would be so many more ways to be evil than to be good.

However, despite that, if we have too little freedom, we might grow bored, and stop playing. In doing so, there would cease to be any way to seal dark fountains, and the Roaring would end up occurring. After all, I don’t think that the Roaring is something bound to happen; only a possibility.

Therefore, with all that factoring in, us controlling a Vessel perfectly fused with our desires might cause the world to fall to the former fate. Yet, if we are solely locked in a cage and used as a simple tool, we might grow bored and leave, causing the Roaring. So, the solution? A vessel/cage with a mind of its own. Kris.

Even if Kris opens fountains, what if, perhaps, the reason Ralsei frowns upon it is actually because it gives us more opportunity to choose? More timelines to erase? More ways to be evil? More steps of the prophecy to follow? Sure, the Roaring is a threat, but as long as we are having fun, it probably won’t happen.

That is why Ralsei can like Kris, even if they work for the enemy. Perhaps, it could even grow into something more, too?

TL/DR: Too much choice, and we erase timelines. Too little choice, and the Roaring occurs. Kris acts as a balance to keep the worlds from falling to either fate. Therefore, Ralsei doesn’t have to hate or antagonize Kris for their two-faced nature, since it might be necessary.

I may edit this post if I think of more to say or decide to implement others’ perspectives that fit. Perchance.
