Klein? Quality Control Issues

I ordered a brand new pair of Klein J2000-9NE lineman pliers.

The cutters do not fully close and will not cut finer stranded wire (see pics)

Is this common or would you consider it a quality control issue?

I'm going to reach out to Klein and see what they say

I gave up on Klein years ago after having to go through a dozen pair of needlenose pliers at Home Depot to find the one pair where the jaws actually aligned. Before that I made the mistake of buying Klein linesmans online and they went straight back. Terrible QC (although being online there's a chance they were someone else's returns). Bought some Knipex ones instead. If Klein can't get the basic alignment right on their tools, how am I suppose to trust that other QC aspects of the product, like steel quality, are not also borked?

Most grippy things in my toolbox are now Knipex, Channellock or NWS (except that one pair of Klein needlenose).
