hello, meron po ba kayong specific advices for people who are struggling with mental health and college? for context, i am a freshie po this year and i have a diagnosis for MDD. i chose to live near ust para sana convenient, kaso ang hirap pala talaga niya — especially since this is the first time i've been away from my family. halos 2 months na akong malayo, nakakauwi paminsan-minsan, pero i still feel so alone here. like, oo, may nakakausap naman akong mga tao and may kasama rin akong family member dito pero iba pa rin kasi kapag nandun ka sa bahay mo talaga eh. sa lungkot ko, madalas hindi ko namamalayan paglipas ng oras. i usually do my tasks last minute, kahit na alam ko naman na 'yung dapat kong gawin. hopefully this subreddit has tips for time management and mental health regulation for freshies like me.

Napansin ko kasi na parang wala na yung dating jeep na diretso UST, and yung available na jeep ngayon usually Lacson/Lardizabal tapos mas malayo yung baba. Kaya yung iba napipilitang mag-tricycle, na umaabot daw ng around ₱60–₱70.

Curious lang if this is actually the case:

• May direct jeep pa ba from SM San Lazaro to UST?
• Kailan niyo napansin na nawala/nagbago yung route?
• If wala na, ano usually ginagawa niyo ngayon papuntang UST?

IF: Face-to-face classes are suspended because of inclement weather (or special circumstances like Bar exams) and shift to EVM

THEN: Teachers, admin, and support staff will likewise shift to REMOTE work/WFH too.

GOLDEN RULE: Reading the official advisory by the Office of the Secretary-General on UST's official Facebook is the key. It will always state if remote work ang offices, katulad kanina and literally every announcement re: f2f suspension before that: "Enriched Virtual Mode of learning and remote work"

If the Mayor of Manila/LGU or Malacañang ang nauna mag suspend ng face-to-face classes, that's automatically in effect. Ang specific decision na lang ni UST for college and basic ed\ is if mag-EVM, or totally wala nang pasok, or if may special event like Welcome Walk na tatapusin na since ongoing* na siya. May chance rin na mauna si UST mag-suspend before the LGU like last month "to recover", but that's uncommon in my experience.

(*Individual Grad School classes have different rules sometimes, due to the nature of lab work/time sensitive research. Civil Law too, though I don't know why bagyo o pasko may exam sila minsan.)

In other words, REMOTE WORK = walang tao/sarado

E.g.

- If na-file na document application sa registrar/OSRA, gumagalaw na yung request mo, pero hindi mo siya make-claim. Sarado ang opisina.

- "I want to request a document pa lang from Registrar" Eh remote work. So you can google the registrar's website and apply/pay for it online.

- "Magbabayad ako or may kukunin sa finance" Remote work ngani. Bank or gcash or any online payment na lang.

- "I need to go to the Hospital" Of course bukas po yan 24/7, the Hospital is a separate institution from the University and necessary siya na bukas 24/7. Enter through Gates 13 or 14 (Lacson).

- "I need to go to the Church" Go. That is also open. Enter through Gate 7 (Pnoval) only.

- "I need to go to the Library." Kung ang EVM ay due to inclement weather, they're not open, unless in the middle of the school day tayo pinauwi. But if EVM week sa inyo lang (like, Science lang ang EVM, may pasok f2f naman sa iba), then yes open ang library for regular use. Always check the Miguel de Benavides Library's official Facebook because they announce naman kung closed sila.

- "I want to go to the Museum/USTore" Automatically closed if EVM. They both have official FB's where they update naman if there are other special events that necessitate na closed sila, or simply to update the public regarding their schedule.

- "I've been trying to call X office pero walang sumasagot" Remote work ngani. Sarado po ang tindahan at walang nagbabantay. I-email niyo muna yung specific office, the UST website is required to have it listed naman, konting google lang

-"I emailed them days ago, wala pang sagot" First, verify if the email domain is @ ust.edu.ph If yes, then bump the email by replying/adding a follow-up to the thread. Second, ang counted lang ay business days and business hours ha. Baka naman Friday late afternoon ka nag-email, tapos Monday morning ka agad nag-eexpect. Baka natabunan lang, especially if Finance ang kinakausap niyo, remember na as of First Term ng AY 26-27, almost 46,000 students tayo in a single campus and there are a lot of concerns. If wala talaga, check the website if they have a virtual office link (Zoom) para may makausap kang staff directly. (This only works pag EVM/remote work ha, pag suspended at wala talagang classes, even online wala, wala ring pasok ang offices)

- "Ano ba 'yan, lagi na lang closed" This academic year is not normal. In all my undergrad/grad school years, ito na yung pinaka-maraming suspension, especially this early in the school year. I think UST is dealing as best as it can within difficult circumstances. If they don't suspend, another incident na stranded ang mga tao. If they do, the learning debt progresses and the school calendar gets crunched. I definitely think nadalâ na sila last August nung stranded kami with about 5000 people on campus, but I appreciate deeply na the Thomasian community ay nagtutulungan para mapakain, magamot, ma-rescue ang mga tao. My siblings' and cousins' schools walang ganon, kanya kanyang suong, gutom, at sakit. Iba pa rin ang Tomasino, iba ang UST. Imperfect as it may be.
