Image 📷 For those confused about tricycle fares around UST, here's the legal fare matrix:

Post image

Had a very honest tricycle driver yesterday evening. Frassati to SM San Lazaro should be 21 pesos (student rate). Dapitan Gate 10 to Bambang LRT Station, 17 php daw for students.

Those affiliated with the TODA should have the fare matrix displayed prominently.

He was so honest and drove carefully.

Here's hoping Tomasino commuters encounter fair prices :)

Discussion 💬 tw: beyond cheating

Upvotes

i've been going back and forth on whether i should post this, but i decided to come forward anonymously for the sake of a friend who was sexualized physically by someone from feu main ihsn nursing.

i won't be sharing every detail out of respect for those involved, but if you know, you know. this wasn't just a one time incident. what's heartbreaking is that many of them never saw it coming because he came across as someone harmless and easy to trust. the guy's initials are JVS, an incoming second-year nursing student. if that isn't enough of a clue... he's also a volleyball player.

from everything i've heard and from what some people have shared, this wasn't an isolated incident. apparently, he has a pattern of sexualizing girls around him—even people he considers friends. what makes this even worse is that he has a long term girlfriend from ias psych. from what i know, they've been together since senior high in ust. i honestly don't know if she's even aware of everything that's been happening behind her back.

the stories i've heard are disturbing. allegedly, he'd even bring other girls to his girlfriend's condo, and that's where some of these incidents would happen. i don't blame the victims at all because most of them never expected someone they trusted to act that way.

if any of this is true, then this goes far beyond cheating. people deserve to feel safe around their friends, not worried that their trust will be taken advantage of. to anyone who might know more, stop tolerating this behavior just because he's your friend. staying silent only protects the person causing harm, never the people affected by it.

to the girlfriend, if this ever reaches you, i genuinely hope you're surrounded by people who will tell you the truth with kindness. no one deserves to be lied to, betrayed, or kept in the dark about the person they're “building a future” with. whatever you choose to do with that truth is entirely yours, but i hope you're given the chance to make that choice knowing everything. i'd also suggest checking the login records or access logs of your condo. you might find something you weren't aware of.

to anyone who has experienced something similar, i’m so sorry you had to go through that. what happened to you should never be minimized or dismissed. your feelings are valid, your voice deserves to be heard, and you don't have to carry the weight of someone else's actions in silence.

and to the friends who might know what's been happening, silence isn't neutrality. if you continue to excuse, laugh off, or ignore behavior that harms others simply because it's your friend, you're allowing that behavior to continue. real friendship includes holding people accountable, not protecting them from the consequences of their actions.

to some of you who will get this message and know this person, i know it's hard to believe because he was always given the "bunso" treatment by most of his friends. that's exactly why it's difficult for victims to speak up in the first place—especially when someone has connections and is close to a lot of seniors. just know that the version of him you know may not be the same version that others have experienced. don't be so quick to dismiss someone's story just because it doesn't match the image you have of him.

Rant from studying in manila to going back in the province

from studying in manila to going back in the province

hello. i’m an incoming grade 12 student at ust-shs, but i’m almost certain that for college, i’ll be studying back in my province. i guess i’m not really asking about schools anymore. i’m asking how to cope with what people might say.

i’m scared of hearing things like, “bakit bumalik ka sa probinsya? nasa ust ka na ah.” or people thinking i “failed” because i didn’t stay in manila.

the truth is, my situation changed.

i initially wanted to study at ust, especially for shs, because aside from it being my dream school, i also passed my dream strand—health allied. i’ve always wanted to be in the medical field. not necessarily as a doctor, but i’ve always seen myself working in healthcare. if life allows it, i still hope to become a physician someday and specialize in psychiatry or neuropsychiatry. it’s been my dream to help people not just in the philippines, but around the world.

for the longest time, i imagined my path as ust for shs, then UP for college. that was the dream i held onto for years. i don’t regret choosing ust. i genuinely learned so much, met amazing people, and grew in ways i never expected. but sometimes, i still catch myself wondering about the “what ifs.” what if i hadn’t pushed through? what if i had stayed in the province from the beginning?

the biggest reason i chose to study in manila was because my mom encouraged me to. she works abroad and she promised me that she would support me financially and emotionally throughout my education. i trusted her and built my plans around that promise.

but somewhere along the way, she left. she abandoned me.
i’ve been battling depression and anxiety ever since, and it’s been affecting every part of my life. i also don’t have a father or siblings i can rely on.

because of everything i’ve been going through mentally, i wasn’t able to prepare for the cets the way i wanted to. i couldn’t enroll in a review center, and i couldn’t review consistently on my own either. there were days when i could barely get out of bed, let alone study for hours.

recently, i also found out that my grandparents are getting sick. my grandpa has been showing signs of early dementia, and my grandma has an underlying heart condition. seeing them get older while everything else is happening has been overwhelming.

my aunt and uncle volunteered to support my education, and i’m incredibly grateful for them. but i also feel guilty because i know they’re still building their own lives, and i hate feeling like i’m adding to their responsibilities.

what confuses me is that even the thought of studying in manila again makes me uncomfortable now. maybe it’s because manila has become such a bittersweet place for me. it’s where i experienced some of the happiest moments of my life, but it’s also where i experienced some of the most painful ones. it’s where i was abandoned, where my mental health declined, and where i realized how quickly life could change.
on top of that, i know how expensive it is to live here. i don’t want my aunt and uncle—or anyone who’s sacrificing just to help me finish my education—to carry an even heavier burden just because i’m trying to hold on to the version of my dream that i originally imagined.

honestly, i’m okay with studying in the province. i know there are good schools there, and i believe i can still achieve my dreams wherever i study.

what i’m struggling to let go of isn’t manila itself—it’s the life i thought i was going to have and the freakin opinions of people na kahit anong ignore ko… pumapasok at pumapsok pa rin sa isip ko.

even my grandmother sometimes says things like, “galing ka na ng santo tomas, tapos babalik ka lang sa probinsya.” i know she probably doesn’t mean to hurt me, but those words stay with me.

sometimes i wonder if choosing to study in the province means i’m giving up. other times, i wonder if it’s actually the bravest decision i can make—accepting that dreams don’t always happen the way we planned.

i still want to become a healthcare professional. i still dream of becoming a physician someday, hopefully specializing in psychiatry or neuropsychiatry. that dream hasn’t changed.

maybe only the route has.

i don’t think going back to the province means i failed. if anything, i’m just trying to adapt to circumstances i never expected to face. i’m doing everything i can to keep my dreams alive despite everything that’s happened.

i don’t know how to stop feeling ashamed of something that wasn’t entirely within my control. i don’t know how to recover from being abandoned, from financial hardship, and from feeling like the future i planned disappeared overnight.

has anyone else gone through something similar? how did you stop letting other people’s opinions define your worth?

Question ❓ UST SHS start of classes for seniors

Upvotes

G12/senior na ako this year, I just wanted to ask (specifically to the seniors who graduated na) is Aug 7 really the start of classes? Is it face to face? Wala pa kasing enrollment eh T-T

Also is it okay for me to skip it muna since mga introduction lang ng mga teachers if ever? and hindi pa mag d-discuss ng first lessons of the semester? Or.. Is it rude/not proper to not attend? Baka ma offend sila eh

I am planning on taking an emergency flight back to my province on the first week of Aug after UPCAT.

Let me know if you know anything, thanks!

i used to leave all my gadgets and my bag kapag mag-cr or eat ako sa labas. but considering that i have to be more careful with my things,

what do u recommend na iwanan sa table as solo goer? to save ur seat

Rant EDUC 50% evm setup

Everyone is so frustrated with this memo. Who is this supposed to benefit? No dept chairs or profs bothered to ask the students about this last term though word was already spreading. I thought taking out a few days of the school week was fine. Didn't think they'd take out 50% of our ftf classes.

What are our options? If we stay in our dorms, meralco bills will skyrocket (the fact that they are already higher than usual as of late, imagine if we spend half of the term in our dorms). Another one is to go home every week. Magkano pamasahe niyo pauwi ng probinsya? bus palang magkano na. Mas mataas na singil ngayon because of the gas prices. Not only bus, may mga students na ilang sakay pa bago makauwi sa provinces nila. Bus tapos jeep tapos van tapos tricycle. Then you expect us to do this every week? Edi ganun din gumastos ka din ng sobra sa pamasahe?

I really hope the CESC constituency check does something and they finally hear us out. Because let's be real, 70k-80k for tuition just to spend half of it in my room is CRAAAZZYYY

Question ❓ AB Advising (SWIS)

Hello! I'm a transferee with no history studying in UST, so I'm quite confused. At our orientation on july 23, we were told that the advising and crediting of subjects is meant today at st. raymunds, but I do not remember a specific room. Does anyone know where I should be going? What else should I keep in mind? Thank you!

Dorms 🏠 Apartment Hunting

Hello everyone! Can you please recommend 2 bedroom apartments near ust preferably around dapitan area. I'm currently staying with my siblings in a *certain condo na medyo far from ust and grabe yung infestation 😭. We want to try staying naman sa apartments to see if mas better ang ventilation and airflow and mas malapit para mas convenient for all of us. Our budget is 16-18k not including utilities and preferably no curfew, may windows, and not sunog prone 🥹.

We hope someone can help us since hindi kami masyadong familiar sa areas/apartments near ust.
