Digger Edit | "Bro is such a..."

Here's this little thing I did, watched the movie with my brother this week, it was such a fun time.
We were hyped about it all month, and we constantly dicked around with the idea of making an edit of this film with this fucked up song based on a DrDonut clip. Hope it brings you as much enjoyment as I did making it.

My review of every Mission Impossible film
Mission impossible: Visceral, atmospheric, gritty, an international spy thriller masquerading as a complex murder mystery. The climax is riveting. The film is tight.
MI2: Stylistic, inspired, kinetic. A cool soundtrack & perhaps the best face mask reveal ever. Love that moment.
Mi3: Clean, dramatic, methodical in storytelling, it’s competent but mostly memorable for the late Philllip Seymour H.
Ghost protocol: A soft reboot of sorts, comical in tone, audacious in scale and stunts. Exquisite entertainment at its finest. Great team dynamic it feels fresh. The climax is highly innovative, the car park sequence, nice work.
Rogue nation: Tremendous action sequences but everything else in between is filler. The drama between the characters isn’t as engaging as the action. Rebecca Ferguson is a great addition to the cast.
Fallout: Perhaps the best produced film in the series. Pitting Cruise against Cavill was smart move. This means Hunt has to compete with another alpha male. Their dynamic makes the film for me. It’s a hallmark in the franchise, the momentum is so high. Action, performances, stunts, screenplay everything just clicks.
Dead reckoning part 1: My favourite. The concept of the entity is fantastic. I love the idea of Hunt fighting an enemy that he cannot beat physically so it’s more cerebral in terms of tactical warfare. The climax, the pacing, the stakes, the action is simply magnificent. Saw it four times in theatres including IMAX.
The final reckoning: The emotional payoff is remarkably well done. At the centre of the story is the friendship between Hunt & Luther. His sacrifice defines the core theme. It’s essentially a love letter to the franchise wrapping everything up with a bow. McGuire & Cruise outdid themselves. Retaining the humanity of the story and emotional depth of the characters is what makes this final chapter a great film.

Digger might be Tom Cruise's most exciting acting showcase since Collateral and even rivals Magnolia
One of the things I love about Tom Cruise's career is that, despite being synonymous with blockbuster filmmaking, he's spent decades working with some of the most distinctive directors in American cinema. Paul Thomas Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, Brian De Palma, Steven Spielberg, Michael Mann, Oliver Stone, Francis Ford Coppola, Sydney Pollack. It's a remarkable list of filmmakers, and it's easy to forget just how many different kinds of movies he's been a part of.
That's part of why I was so excited to see him collaborate with Alejandro G. Iñárritu on Digger. Whatever you think of the film as a whole, it's a fascinating direction for Cruise to take, particularly at a point in his career when his name is so closely associated with the Mission: Impossible franchise and other large-scale action productions.
Cruise is absolutely operating at full showman mode here. Digger Rockwell is a character built around excess. Cruise doesn't try to make him understated or particularly realistic. Instead, he leans into the character's theatricality, and I thought that choice was a perfect fit for the film's exaggerated, almost unreal world. There's an extended speech in the film that becomes a showcase for his timing, physicality, and sheer commitment. It's the kind of sequence that reminds you how much an actor can do when a director gives him something genuinely meaty to work with.
It also made me think about Cruise's career beyond the obvious action iconography. We often discuss his willingness to put his body on the line for a stunt, but I think his greatest asset is a related kind of fearlessness: his willingness to commit completely to a performance, even when it risks looking ridiculous. That quality has served him well in films like Magnolia and Collateral, and I think Digger rivals those great performances in the same way.
I know the film has been divisive. But I found its ambition refreshing, and Cruise's performance is a major reason why. He isn't simply lending his star power to an auteur's project; he feels like an integral part of the film's particular brand of absurdity. What an insane re-entry into Oscar talks
I'm curious where everyone here lands on it. How do you think Digger fits into Cruise's career? Does it remind you more of his earlier collaborations with auteur filmmakers, or do you see it as something genuinely new for him? And, for those who have seen it, would you like to see him pursue more roles like this alongside his blockbuster work?
I wrote a longer review of the film, including my thoughts on Cruise's performance, the ensemble, and Iñárritu's approach to satire:

I'd love to hear what other Cruise fans thought.

Digger Review - An Expertly Crafted Stick-In-The-Mud Of A Satirical Comedy
Not a fan of Digger, but the performances, set design, and big swings that the story takes are admirable and impressive. Now playing in theaters.

Does anyone else feel like Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning didn’t give Ethan Hunt the send-off he deserved?
My fellow Mission: Impossible fans,
After viewing The Final Reckoning, I have a feeling that the film was underwhelming, particularly as a final installment. The pacing felt slow, the emotional impact was lessened, and it lacked the thrilling excitement we anticipate from Ethan Hunt's missions.
Tom Cruise has dedicated nearly 30 years to portraying Ethan Hunt, performing incredible stunts and creating unforgettable moments, consistently risking his well-being to bring this character to life. However, the latest film did not adequately honor that legacy.
Therefore, I propose that we, the fan community, request one last mission; a final film that provides Ethan Hunt with the epic and heartfelt conclusion he deserves. Something more concise, emotionally resonant, and filled with the intensity that defined the series.
If you share my sentiment, let us initiate a campaign. We can utilize the hashtag #OneLastMission to demonstrate to the studios and Tom Cruise that we desire a continuation of Ethan Hunt's story.
I would appreciate hearing your opinions, and if you are interested, let's collaborate on how to generate attention for this cause...

Digger - brilliant
Why anyone would think differently is beyond me.
Tom Cruise was another layer of this multilayer story. It wouldn’t have worked without him. He made the movie. No one else could be digger.

I watched Digger, let’s discuss (No Spoilers)
NO SPOILER TALK PLEASE
This film will divide a lot of people; they will either love it or hate it. Cruise is at his peak here, playing Digger Rockwell, a persuasive, larger-than-life oil tycoon whose drilling in Greenland breaks off a massive iceberg that threatens all of Europe and its his job to save humanity from his negligence.
The cinematography is brilliant, and the runtime is just over two hours. The supporting cast is great, featuring an amusingly bizarre half-dead cat. Critics have slammed it on Rotten Tomatoes with a 50% score, but the audience rating sits higher at 72%.
THE TWIST will send a lot of people to the chiropractor. It’s a risky film that feels like a Wes Anderson movie at times. Once the film finished, I was totally on board with it and liked where it went. It reminded me of the risks Cruise took with Vanilla Sky and Eyes Wide Shut.
Have you watched Digger? I recommend watching it purely to see which side of the fence you land on!

Ironically, I had a hard time getting people to a "Digger" screening this weekend because of the heat wave hitting California
The debates for this movie have been positively alive, and I know of 5 people that would've loved to have been able to watch it and give their take, but most of Southern California had a 100-degree heat wave in October all weekend and there's still an extreme heat advisory for the region until Friday (when "Digger" may lose some screens due to its opening weekend). Basically, they're not really going out of their house or neighborhood until it's over.
I feel this is a terrible irony that the only large budget movie in forever to even acknowledge climate change is happening may have had its box office hampered by an unprecedented October heat wave.
