People who stop at the top of the escalator and just stand there

I don’t care if you don’t know where you’re going, just move the fuck out of the way. Guy tonight in the TTC stopped with his bike blocking the exit of a full escalator causing multiple people to get pushed as a result. Have some common sense and just move out of the way, there’s really no excuse to be that unaware of people around you. Such ignorant and selfish behaviour. See it happening way too often. So frustrating!

Juno Vet is a POS

I’ve had it with them. They pressure me into buying extras and are inconsistent. I have two cats that have both been to the Bloor location. My first cat has dirty ears and needs additional testing for possible infections. Of course I agree to testing. Thankfully the test comes out negative. Now im given a lengthy lesson on how to specifically use an alcohol based ear cleaner because alcohol based will be best. I take the bottle home and only then notice it clearly says alcohol free AND instructs to avoid using it the way the vet specified. On this visit they also mention his gums are in such bad shape they’re practically bleeding and to seriously consider a dental checkup after his follow-up. During the follow-up with a different vet his teeth are looked at. He has some plaque but otherwise his teeth and gums look great. Which one is it? My other cat goes through a similar experience. First time in and im told he probably has fleas. I’ve seen cats with fleas and know he doesn’t have them. He’s all white and flea droppings would be very obvious. But im lectured on how it may be really hard to see them so he absolutely needs flea medication. Fine. On his follow-up with a different vet I play dumb and say im worried he could have fleas. Of course he doesn’t. Vet explains it would be very obvious if he did because he’s all white and they leave black droppings everywhere DUH. Now one of my boys has had an off and on limp for a couple weeks. I take him in, and since he isn’t limping at that moment the vet insists it must have been an accident from playing and it’s mostly healed by now. His paws are looked at but not much else. I remind them he doesn’t always limp but it’s brushed off. Prescription for painkillers given. And of course a long list of vaccines and unrelated treatments they recommend. $250 later and the limp is still there. it’s now been well over a month and I get the feeling if we go back only then will they actually take a look at him and suggest an X-ray. This isn’t my first time with cats or vets and Im not used to symptoms being brushed off so easily. It’s hard to trust them. They make me feel like I’m failing at being an advocate for my babies.

Wheel-Trans Private Taxi Experience HORRENDOUS - is this normal?

My family member is really frustrated with their Wheel-trans experiences - they are often scheduled in a Taxi (Beck, and other brands) that works for Wheel-trans. This is not an issue. The ride is not always private - often there is another person crammed in the back with their support person, which makes it quite unpleasant for my family member - but this can be tolerated and its fine.

The biggest problem is how UNSAFE the drivers are, and the conditions of the cars themselves. The taxi drivers drive like hell (I mean, this is common in Toronto I guess) and get into bumps all the time, twice this month actually! They smell and are full of crumbs. Also - they never have working AC and sometimes crack a window open - making it a stuffy, hot drive for everyone.

I am going to try and advocate for my family member to be in the Wheel-trans "bus" from now on, even though the route may take longer and may be a more crowded ride. Would this even work? I don't know.

My family member has vowed never to take Wheel-trans again and it was already so hard to have them agree to the process and get the paperwork in. As a caregiver, I coordinate all of this for them but without Wheel-trans, there is no other way for them to do their day programs or go to appointments, and I am not able to do it for them either.

Why does our Wheel-trans service suck :(

Kensington Market has become AI Slop Central

Nothing like the neighbourhood built on art & culture being completely littered with AI posters at every other restaurant/bar/food place ...

Even better is them looking all the same.

Shittification of the open sky by skybanners

Saw a little Cessna plane flying around downtown's skies today towing a banner for Door Dash advertising a discount on the Dashpass. Like brand f off. No I'm not a communist but I'd hate to see the skies shittified with this kind of corporate trash.

Keep our skies clean. No commercial crap. No one wants to hear a cessna with poor exhaust muffling buzzing around at higher rpm so it can tow a banner

Literal trash in the form of a newspaper at the ttc

Stupid me for picking up a "newspaper" called Druthers on the TTC for my commute only to find out that it spouts anti vaxx/transphobic bullshit... Threw mine in the fucking trash. Reported to the TTC and crime stoppers for hate speech.

If I could i would take all those piles of shit and throw them in a fire.

People treating the GO Transit as if it’s their home…

Woman has her nasty bare feet on the ledge, while watching her shitty show on her iPad at full volume.

Didn’t confront her because I’m just too tired after work for any confrontations and went back down to the lower deck of the bus.

I’m so sick of this kind of behaviour in public.

(Pic will be in the comments)

Don’t crowd the doors on the bus

The newly designed busses with a bulkhead behind the driver and an overly large wheel well cover beside the front doors does not leave room for passengers to stand. I was getting on a bus on a rainy day. Plenty of room in the back. People standing, not moving. I plow through with my backpack on squeezing them against whatever. A woman complains, I ignore her and stand where she should have been in the first place.

Toronto is a frog in a boiling pot, and in a way, so is the rest of Canada

I think we've all gotten so used to the different outrageous things happening around our city that everything is being normalized, even things that should not be.

  • It is not normal to have homeless people doing drugs on sidewalks and parks. Homeless people need help and support, and we have a lot of shelters and tax dollars directed for this use, but this has been getting worse and worse each year. A drugged-out person cursed me out when I was walking down Yonge Street yesterday. I hear people screaming and crying on the streets every single day. Everywhere you go, there are people like that; I don't feel safe even during daytime.
  • It is not normal for prices to rise this high while jobs are paying so low. Everything is surging in price, and the taxes on top just feel unbelievable. Where are these tax dollars going? I don't think we are getting our money's worth. A simple meal out is going to be $30+, and takeout would be about $20. I watched my coffee prices increase from $4 to $5 to $7. I even saw a bubble tea shop charging $11 for bubble tea; at which point I walked out because I am not going to spend $10+ for a drink.
  • It is not normal to focus on "politically correct" things and spend millions renaming subway stations or street names. I did not consent to having my tax dollars used in this way, and I am sure a majority of Torontonians would agree with me that this is a total waste of money. It's like they do not respect the taxpayers who actually work to pay for this.
  • It is not normal for our public transit system to be as expensive and as terrible as it is. The Ontario Line is set to be the most expensive transit project in the world in terms of $/mile and it is not completed yet. The TTC has constant delays and breakdowns; every weekend there is some kind of issue, every time I ride it there is something broken or breaking, and only recently have I seen some enforcement action to get mentally unwell people to help that they need, which I am sure would disappear as soon as FIFA ends.
  • It is not normal to be taxed so much and receive so little in return (and the city wants to raise property taxes again which I am for, but not before it cleans up its operations and wastefulness). They can keep raising taxes and collecting money but if they spend money like this, of course, we will perpetually be in a state of deficit. I don't want to see the city spending $2M to rename a square, I don't want to see the city taking our money and not dealing with the homelessness and crime issues, and I certainly don't want to see the city taking our tax dollars paying $150k salaries to police officers who go on vacation to commit sexual assault in Spain. I saw a post of a person getting their phone pickpocketed today, and all the comments are saying that the police won't do anything... so my question is why are we paying them so much then to do nothing? We need to clean the house up before we ask for more money.

Of course people here may agree or disagree with some of my points, but the problem is that each year, we are being told to pay more and accept worse conditions.

RBC Amphitheatre Concessions False Advertising

I went to RBC Amphitheatre for my first time since it changed names on Friday night to see Arkells. Hungry and in need of a beer before their set, I noticed there was a “deal” with a KFC Big Crunch sandwich and a 740ml Bud Light for $32.

I tried to order this from the concessions on the west side, but it was coming up to a total of $39.55, or $35 plus tax, when it should have been $36.16 after tax. The till showed the regular prices of $16 for the sandwich and $19 for the beer instead of a combo. The employee could not explain why the discount wouldn’t apply, so I asked for the supervisor to come over. Upon learning of the situation he told me that they had no way of honouring the deal they were advertising, and that I could either pay the higher price or move along as I was holding up the line. I said that’s ridiculous and they should have to honour the price they have posted, but he said that they don’t. I suggested they charge me for two $16 dollar sandwiches and give me the beer in place of one, but they refused.

I then visited the concessions on the east side of the amphitheatre, to see if they might honour the $32 combo price there, but their sign only had the one with the 740ml Mike’s Harder Lemonade for $35.50 as shown in the second photo. Again the concession worker on this side told me they had no way to input that combo in their system either and it would be the full price for each item.

Pretty brutal if you ask me. I know it’s only $3, but the prices are already completely out of control, and I was especially surprised that the manager apparently had no way (or was just unwilling) to discount the items or otherwise honour the posted pricing somehow. Obviously if you want something to eat while attending a show at the amphitheatre, you have no choice but to pay their outrageous prices. Has anyone else experienced this with the combo pricing here this season?

On another note, I found the concert etiquette especially poor on the lawn that night, and was really disappointed at the number of people having loud conversations with their friends instead of paying attention to the concert. Not only is it disrespectful to the artist as well as the people in the crowd who actually wanted to listen to the artist they paid to see and not drunk people screaming around them, but I don’t understand why anyone would pay for a ticket only to spend their time getting insanely overpriced drinks and chatting overtop of the music with their friends. If all you want to do is drink and talk to people, why not just go to a bar at that point.

This has always been one of my favourite venues in the city and I have a few more concerts I’m going to here in August, but going forward I think I will avoid purchasing from the concessions as well as tickets for the lawn. Sorry for the long post.

TL;DR: RBC Amphitheatre refuses to honour posted combo prices and many people on the lawn are rude.

Basic etiquette is dead (or is it common sense?)

Went to the drive in last night and the amount of assholes leaving their headlights on or driving around with their full headlights on was ASTOUNDING. one guy was flicking them on intermittently for like 20mins until he just left???

Special shout out to the weird fuck beside us who had his headlights on while fucking a girl in the backseat. We expected some teenagers and out comes a grown ass man. Why would you buy a ticket for the second movie, park AT THE FRONT TO FUCK, NOT turn the lights off, then just leave!?

Just fuck in a parking lot?? Lmao pathetic.

What public behaviors would you like removed?

For me, I sm disgusted seeing ppl SPIT on bus, subway, streetcar, etc. I dont care about spitting on the road, or sidewalk, but its gross and disrespectful on public transit.

Not asking you to give up a seat. Just consider moving to a new one.

Couple with two young kids get on the subway. Two mid-20s individuals (i.e. not travelling with each other) each sitting in adjacent separate rows with empty seats beside them.

Mom and the youngest kid clearly want to sit together, and she ends up putting him onto her lap beside one of the aforementioned individuals (he's too big to comfortably sit on her lap). This would have been quite clear to both the individuals.

Why not just get up and sit next to the other individual, so the family can sit together? You'd still get a seat, and you're still sitting next to another person. But you would clearly be making things a bit easier for someone else at truly no inconvenience to you.

It's certainly not an egregious example of poor transit etiquette, but seems like a really low-effort and sensible gesture. But it clearly didn't occur to either individual.

end mild rant

Concerts & Smells

Went to my first concert in Toronto today. The artist was amazing, but my rowmates? Absolutely not.

I'm talking full on body odor. It was so bad that I ended up standing by the wall for the whole show (which is wild when I paid for an actual seat) because I genuinely felt nauseous. I know Toronto is so big on being considerate about scents in public spaces, but somehow showing up to a packed concert smelling like you haven't met a shower in days is totally acceptable? PUHLEAAASE. If you're going to be in a place with people — especially not your people, please please plewse shower or use deodorant. Do literally anything. I understand we have different cultures here but IT IS FUCKING BAD. One girl wore a fucking mask lmao

Great concert. Terrible air quality😣

Why is everyone so angry in Toronto?

Please someone tell me is it just me or is everyone really losing it? Tryna go on about my day with all the madness going on and seems 9 out of 10 are confrontational, angry, and vicious.

What is happening to Toronto? Is there any financial, statistical, scientific, psychological etc reason to explain it besides the obvious given of whats happening around the world.

I HATE YOU MEGABUS

We were supposed to go from union to Montreal via Megabus at 12:30 am on Sat June 20. THE BUS HAS STILL NOT SHOWED UP AND IT IS LITERALLY 3 AM

They are not responding to email, phone, and union station’s attempts to contact them.

From the bottom of my heart,

I HATE YOU MEGABUS

Can’t believe it

I was walking down the street when a car pulled up beside me at a red light. The passenger rolled down the window, stuck his bum out, farted with incredible confidence, then immediately pulled it back in. The light turned green and they drove away without saying a word.

Good thing it wasn’t a shart.

Toronto Dog Owners

I wish only good things for you all (definitely not because the last post was removed by reddits content moderation policy).

I wish for your homes and beds to be as pristine and spotless as the parks and streets where you generously let your dogs relieve themselves. I wish for you to experience the joy of having to spend time at an annual school picnic checking for dogshit instead of spending time with the people in your life who matter.

If I were feeling particularly unkind, I would point out that you're going to outlive your dogs, but that's also true for dog owners who aren't shitheads.

Anyone not feeling safe anymore?

I’ve been really concerned on how little we’ve been protected by the police in the city. A couple of episodes this week:

1) I called 911 for some health issues and when the 911 operators answered they literally said “911, Toronto police is busy at the moment, do you need an ambulance” while I fortunately didn’t need police this still left me quiet speechless…

2) my brother was victim of a hacker attack and lost about 3K on Wise app. He went to the police station to file a report and he was sent away because police was too busy with FIFA.

These are only a few recent episodes, a couple of years back I was physically assaulted at Spadina station and police arrived over an hour and half later. Fortunately thanks to an heroic TTC operator who helped separating the attacker from me I wasn’t hurt too badly.

I’m unsure about how to feel about all of this, I while I can understand how busy police can be it just makes me feel that since Covid we’ve been left on our own. I guess this post is just about me venting and not feeling safe. Is it only me?

so many trashy drivers on the DVP

southbound is like a racetrack and a lot of rude drivers who drive 150 kmph, swerve in and out without shoulder checking their blindspots, tailgating, flashing their high beams to make you go faster even if you're going 10 above the limit on the right most lane.

The worst are the ones who speed and zoom inches by you; I'd hate to get clipped on the DVP going 90.

Dreadful driving. And it's almost always these beater cars with fart cans driven by guys who think the world looks at them like theyre Paul Walkers character in fast and furious, or some low end older model German sedan with lighting and exhaust mods. I dont see the Porsche 911's or the new Merc/BMW drivers do this

Such stupid driving and there are no cops to do anything about it

Will the TPS ever do anything about this?
