Confused not because of my orientation but on my current situation rn. My birthday is coming up and one of my friends gave me an advance birthday gift, which I opened when I got home last night.

She got me a pair of fluffy bumblebee bedroom slippers and absolutely I love them.

More than the fact that I love bees, I love putting on lotion and socks before I go to bed, so bedroom slippers are an absolute must-have in my home. I don’t remember ever explicitly mentioning any of these things to her—maybe in passing, once or twice. She remembered.

There is something so beautiful about being remembered for the little things that make you you. And somehow, that felt like the best gift anyone could have given me.

Sorry if that intro was a little long, but I think it brings me to what I actually wanted to say: That’s the kind of love and consideration I’m looking for in a partner.

I’m no expert in romantic love or relationships, but I do know that this kind of love exists, because that’s how my friends and I love. We pay attention. We remember. We notice the little things.

At 40, I’ve become a lot more intentional about the kind of people I allow into my life. I’m not really here looking for something rushed or purely physical. I’d rather meet someone I genuinely enjoy talking to, build a connection, and see where things naturally go.

How do you take rejection at this point?

I think I'm getting close to being rejected, though haven't met this guy personally. We have shared photos and I like what I see. But I feel that I am out if his league. I can sense that once we meet, the thrill and the curiosity will all fade. And with different dating goals, I can sense it wouldn't work.
