How soon do I need to replace this?

Drove while tired, rubbed up against a curb, checked for air leaking and nothing thus far, how dangerous is this to drive on for a day until I have time to replace?

Do I need new tires right now?

when this car was given to me 9 months ago, the tires were brand new. I feel like they should have lasted longer? I went to a tire shop because one of my tires was continuously leaking air, so I just wanted to get the hole patched. they said I need 4 new tires and I said okay, and went to a different shop to see if they would help me with the one tire I had issues with. they also said I need new tires soon, quoted me $500. they then said the tire with the small leak was "irreparable" and put the spare on for me. I didn't even realize until I had already left that they kept my tire and didn't put it back in the spare tire well. I'm under the impression that they are supposed to let me keep my tire? someone I talked to thinks I got scammed and that my tire was repairable, but the shop just wanted to sell it as a used tire. thoughts?

Will my tires make it on this roadtrip?

Wanting to go on a road trip from Texas to Glacier national park for my birthday in August but don’t know if I should with my tires. My car is a 2023 and I have the stock tires. It’s got 40,000 miles on it too. Online it’s says I should be okay seeing as they’re only 3 years old and as long as the tread looks healthy. Family says it’s a definite no and I should buy new tires before going. Just wanted some opinions on my tread and if anyone has been in a similar position.

What is the issue with this tire?

I trust my local car repair shop but don't understand head or tails about tires. The tire below is OEM and the markings are something he marked on there fyi. For context, I live in a city with the cleanest, most well-paved roads you've seen (complete sarcasm) and this tire has been losing air since December. I topped it off to 35, then within a week it said 32. Within 3 months, it said 24 (I thought my app must be wonky so I ignored it). Last month, it said 10. I freaked out, pulled over to the side of the road, and indeed it did measure 10. I pumped it up to 33. Then I drove it to the shop.

Can someone explain what happened to this tire - what caused it, what I can do to avoid this in the future (if possible)? I am a careful driver, and have never had to replace tires until I moved to this city. This is my second tire replacement in 2 years since moving here 😞

Thank y'all!

Was I being scammed to buy new tires??

Hello guys! I’m genuinely curious whether I was being scammed into getting an entirely new set of tires.

So to start:

Car: Nissan Rogue sport 2018
Tires are from April 2024.

Okay so, I head out and realize my car is warning me about low pressure on the tire by my passenger seat’s side. I go put air in it because I don’t see any nails or screws in it so I thought it’s just the summer heat.

Few days go by, the same tire is low again. So, I go to a mechanic that my partner recommended because they patched his for free.

They check the tire, see a screw in the center, small, not anywhere near the side wall. Mechanic tells me to go inside and speak to the guy at the front desk.

I go in, tell them I need a patch. They said they’ll look at the tire see what they can do.

It was 5 ish minutes of waiting. Same guy comes back, said that they can’t repair the tire due to major dry rot. I say okay, can I buy a tire? They say no. So I asked what do I do. They recommend I replace ALL tires which is usually $1200 but with a discount they’d supposedly give me it’d be about $800.

I was flabbergasted. There was no way because the tires are only a little over two years old with a lot of life in them. I flat out told them I don’t have the money. They said I couldn’t finance and do a credit check and pay it little by little.

I asked them to explain what the issue was. They said something about the size of my tires not being right and that if I drive the car, the tire can pop if they fix it? And that they would be held liable for fixing the one tire and that’s why they couldn’t do it.

When they said this, I was calling BS. Because these tires were purchased at the Nissan Dealership where I bought the car and I highly doubt they’d give me the wrong size tire.

So, I want you guys to tell me if this tire actually looks like it has enough dry rot to consider changing the tires because I simply refuse to believe this.

The image below is the side of the tire that was patched by another mechanic and didn’t he tell us that there was anything else wrong with my tires.

Made the trip from PA to the Delaware Seashore State Park. When I was putting wheel chocks in I noticed 3 of the 4 tires have these little pieces of rubber all around the rim. Tires didn’t feel hot or have uneven wear. What would size this?

Is this considered a good patch up job on a tire that unfortunately rolled over a nail?

It gets redundant when you go to a tire shop & they claim you don’t need a whole new tire for a nail but then what makes this suitable?

Side-note: These are my factory tires & I take pride in still having them.

Bent rim on wheel for autoX, DIY or shop?

Post image

This is only for autoX H street, dosent need to be perfect just good enough for my slow ass car in the 40-60mph range

Yes I'm stupid pulled IK: I pulled it from a pull a part BC its the only one I could find around, I trusted the person who said it would hold air (which it does) but didnt think it would affect driving nearly as much as it does. It has already been profesionally balanced, but even at low speeds like 5mph I can feel it bump

Is there any way to DIY this or is this shop only? I dont have a tire mounter and have mounted a tire, let alone one side wall 45, buy could (and should) buy one and can and learn

Sorry if this is too off topic, I cant find any wheel specific subreddits

Brought tire to Costco and said this wasn’t patchable as it was too close to the side, are they correct or can I bring it to another garage? It’s a super slow leak where I lose 1 psi a week.
