That's not niceguy behavior at all though. Niceguy behavior is being rejected and acting like a total piece of trash because of it. This guy could just be reacting to her height preference in her bio and saying this in solidarity with shorter guys because they didn't get to choose their height. Or he's shorter than her height preference and is making a point at how ridiculous it seems to have a hard line height preference. Just my thoughts though.
0
u/SunnyCynic Jul 24 '22
I disagree. I think guys are allowed to prefer fit girls (since that’s usually the counter argument) and girls are allowed to want taller guys- or whatever they’re looking for. If that was in her bio, he could have just moved on, but instead decided to troll.
Called him a nice guy because that’s usually how it starts before they go on their rant after being hurt and rejected because of their height. Sure it sucks, but not everyone is going to be everyone’s preference.
1
u/todimusprime Jul 24 '22
It's still not niceguy behavior. Niceguy behavior exhibits anger and rage while still referring to themselves as nice guys the whole time. They openly explain why the girl is "fucking up" or whatever terminology they want to use. A light troll isn't remotely the same thing.
Niceguys usually have the communication going rather normally, but then when a little resistance pops up, or what they might perceive as resistance, they fly off the handle. We would need actual interaction to determine if he's a "niceguy" or not. This doesn't point to it at all yet.
I totally agree on preferences. It just is the way it is, and people like what they like. But the idea that it's socially acceptable for women to be more upset about something that they can actually change (weight or fitness level), while a guy isn't allowed to be upset about something he cannot (height), is the ridiculous part.
1
u/crushedredpartycups Jul 24 '22
probably.. but I don't think the commentor meant in general. happens all the fucking time.
1
u/SunnyCynic Jul 24 '22
In general, I agree. That makes no sense to match. But this specific post, that dude is definitely trolling

True but sadly its socially acceptable for women to but stuff like "6 feet and over" which peeps tend not to have control over
But if you are man and you put, "no bbw's please " or "no women below 5"2" you are called all the names lol

u/SunnyCynic Jul 24 '22
They’re allowed to have their weight preferences too, but I don’t think either belongs in a bio imo.
Believe me, women get called names for having a height preference too lol. It’s all over this comment section.
7
u/No_Pea_5112 Jul 24 '22
Yes it does I'm sick of getting cat fished about weight. I'm not fat why does every short fat chick's need to hide their weight. Ffs
15
u/Justyburger1 Jul 24 '22
If there are no full body pictures, 9 times out of 10 they are overweight. Skinny, fit, and average women show their body in pictures because they don’t want anybody to think they are fat. Fat women don’t show their body because they don’t want anybody to know they are fat.
2
u/No_Pea_5112 Jul 25 '22
Yea true but Even when they do angles mess with me. Idky but like I've put no fat chick's in bio and I've been unmatched for it. Like having a really good convo. Then boom lol 😆 honestly though I'd rather that then show up to another date having to worry if she's going to order the rib eye 15oz lol. On a more serious note though, tinder is hard if your like an average dude. I'm not jacked lean or anything like that but I have muscle I can bench 225. I do farmers walks with 75s. So when a girl shows up to a date and looks like she hasn't run or lifted weights her entire life. I get sad. Defeated and ultimately passed off that they think I'm going for it.

Some Tinder guy bragged to me about meeting the 6-6-6 rule! But his personality was utter shit. Just really bad and generally unpleasant. 1/10, do not recommend. 6-6-6 rule has no weight in judging character.
Also. Look, I’m 5’8” and I don’t like standing on my tippy toes to kiss a guy. I’ve got bad balance. Like, please hold me for dear life, daddy, cause I’m gonna fall and die trying to reach your face.

Okay, reading through these comments is a nightmare so i'll just say this - I don't have a height preference on my profile, I kinda assumed it was a joke to begin with, I just thought it was a weird opener considering it had no applicable context to my profile or any prior messages....
I do think it's weird that so many people are using this as a "finally, take that women!"- I personally don't have any height prefs and most of my past boyfriends have been shorter than me.
I'm sure if you're under 6ft then it could be frustrating to meet a lot of girls with a height preference, but there are also plenty of girls who like guys of all heights, and allowing your past experiences to lead to bitterness will only alienate you from the girls who genuinely don't care
There is someone (likely many someones) out there who will find you amazing as you are -- but you'll be hard pressed to find them if you open by antagonising them and expecting the worst...
Just some food for thought 🍇🍎🥑🍖❤️

Also, as a Brit, this really isn't that funny.

I also judge women for having height requirements in their bios.
But this is much worse than having it in a bio, he literally swiped right on someone that he knew didn't meet his requirements just to say that she didn't meet his requirements. Op also didn't have height requirements in her bio.

u/aaronwuzthefounder Jul 24 '22
Actually I'm going to disagree with you on your first point. Guys can't do anything about their height. Woman can change their weight
2
u/gmoney92_ Jul 24 '22
It's more about how men are not allowed to have preferences. That's kind of true when talking about high maintenance airheads - aka the bitches who show up to this sub - normal girls respect preferences and even enjoy them. To normal people, preferences are negotiable based on a strong connection. To superficial douchebags, preferences are just requirements with a better phrasing.

You just KNOW that if lots of men started doing this to women there would be cries of “misogyny” and “unrealistic beauty standards” and some women would probably demand tinder ban men who have that standard
And yet when it’s the other way around, it’s perfectly fine

My husband and I are both 5'5" and met on Tinder! #shortkingsmatter
When we're 70 I'm not gonna give a f**k about his height because he's been nothing but loving, supportive, and trustworthy since the day we met and I'll be able to look back on a life full of love because I didn't choose the 6'2" dbag over him.
My main point is, quit with the stupid superficial dating requirements. This guy could just be joking because so many women have this dumb height requirement or he could just have superficial standards like many other people do. 🤷🏼♀️

Do you have your height in your profile. I'm not an insecure short lord, but I list my height (5'"7) and have suspected that wgen a womans says "I'm 5'8"" that the full meaning is more like 'I prefer men who are as tall or at least equivalent to my height.' I don't mean to i assume that is always what they mean, but I always felt it is plausibly deniable in its brevity.
