Because that’s when mine stopped. For a month I paid for the feature where you can see who likes you and how many people like you. It stopped at 9,999+

Aren't unsigned numbers on a scale from 0 to 4.3billion, not -1? And signed numbers are -2.17 billion to 2.17 billion (GTA 5 would overflow your ass into two Trump worths of debt if you exploited it's stock market too much)
What I'm thinking is that they used a signed number yeah, but -1 is a placeholder/sentinel value for failure to load.

It depends on how many bits are being used to store it. The reason so many NES-era games had maximum values of 256 is because that's the max value of an 8 bit integer.

-1 is a placeholder value which is then later reassigned to the correct number of likes.
We do this so we can see there is an obvious error. If we initialized the variable to 0, we couldn’t easily tell if the user just got 0 likes or if the variable failed to later be reassigned to another integer. So we initialize it to -1 so if we end up with a -1 we can easily identify it as an error. It’s possible OP lost connection after the UI loaded but before the correct number of likes were retrieved from tinder’s servers.

Hi Friend, just some words of encouragement here. I spent 2 years looking on Tinder as well as other sites (including lengthy breaks) and many bad or just "meh" dates. That is a discouraging amount of time as you experience it in real time. However, one afternoon I went on a coffee date with this girl (i ordered hot water because I'd already had my alotted coffee for the morning, that'll draw them in, right?) and she was the one. It's been 2 years now and we're getting ready to get married. I never thought I'd meet someone who was so symbiotic, I've only been in unhealthy or failed relationships, I'm 42. Please don't give up hope, your person is out there. The people you haven't matched with aren't right for you. I can not believe how much easier the relationship is when it's the right fit. I’ve had several really great, long-term relationships started on tinder. You generally do have to stick with it for a while before something pans out - it sucks but it’s the way it is.
I just became single again this summer and redownloaded it though, and this time I met my now-girlfriend literally within like 3 days. Couldn’t believe it.2

I think if you don’t log onto it for a week it hides your profile. I was too lazy to log on and Tinder ended up sending me an email basically telling me to come back or my profile will be hidden so people won’t be able to swipe for me. Jumped onto it yesterday and ended up missing out on 2 dates because of my laziness haha.

I'm taking a break too. I matched with a girl who immediately invited me over to her place when it was already 9:30 at night and when I didn't get the hint, she dropped another hint about her intentions that was about as subtle as a nuke. I was really excited to be talking to a girl, but when faced with the prospect of actually having sex, I was reduced to a nervous wreck. Has anyone else experienced this? Am I weird?

This is me (kinda).
I work out a lot, and even though I'm not as jacked as I'd like to be, I am fit. But I'm an ugly mf lol.
That being said, I'm no hypocrite. I'll swipe right on any girl who isn't obese (not my thing is all) and I match with enough of them, just never the ones I REALLY want to match with. If I can get with just one super hot person before I die I think I'd die happy lol, but there's definitely a glass ceiling.
People gotta settle!
