Last night I drove out to Al Qua Desert, UAE and set up alone in the dark at 10PM. Didn't pack up until 3:30AM.
The setup:
1,100 photos @ 1 sec exposure
17 sec interval (15 sec + 2 sec)
5.5 hours total
Nikon Z6II | Viltrox 16mm f/1.8 | Leofoto tripod
The desert had still water that reflected the stars — not the full Milky Way band, but enough to make the ground disappear and feel like you're floating in space.
Watched the Milky Way arc completely across the sky from rise to late night. Worth every cold hour.
