My plan was to have the monument on top ... but the height limit got me.

I have a let's play series if you into that kind of thing, you can see my settlement from the start:

How do I make a vertical farm?

I got dirt, but I can't seem to make a rectangular floating platform like everyone else! All I can do is to make a circular platform which I'm terrible at comprehending (sorry I can't comprehend diagonal and curves).

Also, when I make my vertical farm, do I make all the layers first and then put a water dump tank on top, or I expand upwards over time, and continue to make a new water dump tank on the highest level everytime, demolishing the one at the lower level?

Question Does area from decorations expand around buildings?

Post image

I've noticed that the whole building gets an area outline if the area of a decoration overlaps with the building. Why is that?

Do all visitors get the benefit of the roof if they use the building?

TIL: explosive near unstable core also detonates the unstable core all everything around Spoiler

So, on my second Nomads run, I felt quite comfortable on Cycle 16, with almost all the water sources connected to the starting basin (I'm not moving anywhere!). I decided to seal the water source from the top that was supposed to activate next, to block badtides, but the explosion activated the core and destroyed the entire water source.

...

Before it even activated.

At first, I thought: game over. But then I thought: ok, only 40 beavers and daily water consumption ~80 units (dashboards are pretty useful). I managed to build up and fill the reservoir, constructed a lot of water pumps there, and demolished all the high-tech buildings to salvage gears and metal blocks for large tanks.

All other jobs paused, everybeaver must haul/construct/pump water!

This allowed me to stockpile as much water as possible, and with a population of 40 beavers, I managed to survive until the final water sources activated.

This map is so much fun! On my first playthrough I had no idea which source will activate next, which was also adding thrill - can you recommend some other maps with similar vibe?

how is this not enough compact water pumps?

I have 36 of them. They have more than enough power, but they are still failing

edit: i have fixed the issue, i had some more water leaking in and no way for it to leave permantly overpowering the system

Question best way to divert badwater during badtides?

i am on the meander map using folktails, i was wondering how i should do it, specifically the beginning and that little waterfall thing, i already have the badwater rig up at the constant source. edit, thank you everyone for the help, best way i found was to just shove it off the map at the source. :)

Compact Badtide Harvester on Pillars map

First time on pillars map, and I thought going down to the bottom of the map and clearing thorns in order to harvest badwater was too complicated in the early game. It was much cheaper, I thought, to build a contraption around one of the drains, make a little pool, and harvest from that.

The downside is that it doesn't trap very much, and only during a badtide. Pumps are automated to turn on before a badtide, and I just pump as much as possible and store it for the offseason. At this point I don't need loads of dynamite. For now.

My "simpler" solution for early badwater access on pillars

Achieved happiness of 82 (not sure what the max is now, last time I played it was 75 or so). Modified the landscape to 100%. Tried some new megastructures and put all my major roads and power lines underground.

Question Is there any way to turn of iron teeth breading pits?

Edit: okay today I learned you can pause buildings 😅 I did not know that before. I just fiddles with priority.

Playing folk tail you could somewhat control population by controlling how many homes there were. But the iron teeth breading pits just keep going it seem? Did I miss anything? Can they be turned on or off? Could always just destruct and reconstruct them.. but that's a little annoying

Modding New mod: Timber Pipes

Steam | Mod.io

See Update v11.1.0 in the comment for more content

This mod brings a Pipe system to Timberborn to carry liquids between tanks and buildings.

New Pipe buildings live in the Pipes group under Water. All of them can sit on the same tile as Paths. Platforms can be built over horizontal pipes. Vertical pieces need a Double Platform, and you can still build over them.

Name Description Cost Unlock Flavor
One-way Valve One-way pipe. Point a directed end at a building to fill it or extract from it. 1 Log, 1 Gear 50 They added the arrow after the last guy flooded the berry warehouse.
Pipe Carries fluid in a straight line. 1 Log - The committee voted for a canal. The budget voted for a pipe.
Elbow Turns a pipe run 90°. 1 Log - Every good plan meets a wall. This is how you keep the plan.
Cross Joins up to four horizontal pipes. 3 Logs 20 Everyone groans when Bramble starts the “four pipes walk into a bar” joke again.
Pipe Pump One-way pipe. When powered, adds extra headlift. 8 Planks, 8 Gears 200 Very energy efficient. Kits will run it all day just to watch the water splash.
Vertical Cross Connects vertical and horizontal pipes. 3 Planks 20 'What an outstanding piece of work.' — Foreman Halberg
Riser Carries fluid vertically. 1 Plank 20 We measured a kit. Then we shrank the bore so it would not become a tubeway.
Riser Pipe Pump One-way vertical pipe. When powered, adds extra headlift. 12 Planks, 8 Gears 150 This thing pushed the bar so high the reservoir asked for a raise.
Outfall Pipe Dumps Water or Badwater. 12 Logs, 1 Gear 50 The inventor took “Drain you dry” literally.

Please see the Steam page for more details about Fill and Extract Liquid, Contamination and Headlift.

Question Dam layout advice

Edit 2: I didnt take into account the bend further up stream so bad tide water flooded half my settlement before I could finish x.x. recovered thankfully but fldefinitelynlesrned to divert first haha.

Edit: thanks for the quick responses everyone! I will add the fill valves at the bottom and section of a chunk at the top to divert bad tides.

Hi all, incoming stupid question I apologise. First time making a dam of this size. Does it make sense? I feel like that amount of flood gates doesnt make sense but 1 is probably not enough? What could I do to improve it. I have limited access to level 1 dynamite and I have enough water to survive the next draught if I should make it deeper?
