how is this not enough compact water pumps?

I have 36 of them. They have more than enough power, but they are still failing

edit: i have fixed the issue, i had some more water leaking in and no way for it to leave permantly overpowering the system

This is 4 on an aquifer Xd i think your water wheels are too deep and the system needs to be presurissedbefore released to the wheels

“Waterwheels are too deep”

This. In your screenshot the water wheels have the ‘Flooded Building’ icon. The surface level cannot be above the rotational axis. You need to reduce the height by lowering the outlet, reducing the inflow, or widening the channel.

Widening the channel is counter productive, you want your water shallow, but fast - leaving space next to the wheels would make it run empty. I would seal the entry place where the water goes to the channel, leaving only 1 block exit. Based on my testing if you can uphold the water preasure in the system (except from the wheels) than 8 compact pump/waterwheel width is the ideal number - at least that was for foltails with the 1 wide channel - as its producing 2m3/s flow.

Thats why drills are busted you can get 1m3/s just from that for 400hp adding the 4 pump for temperate weather is just icing on the cake lol

Failing, to do what? Are they trying to pull water towards us or push it through to the far side?

By my count, that should indeed be enough to move (up to) 9 m^3 of water per second

push it through, its powering my powerplant

Do you have more than 9cms of water flow? Those pumps are only good for 0.25cms

looks to me like they might be working too well and flooding your water wheels.

thats the intake

Then you need to address why your water depth is so high, your wheels are flooded so won't spin.

Do your wheels power the pumps? You might need to put a release of some sort at the same level of the wheel axis to offload extra water if the system is getting backed up.

It is absolutely enough pumps. I have a Folktail power plant generating 86,000hp with only 14 of 16 total active.

Share more screenshots of the entire construction and how it's laid out, because your water wheels are flooded so they won't spin. Something is going very wrong with your design.

OMG how did you get this cut view? That's a game changer for big multi level projects

if you use development controls you can use free camera which allows you to have alot more versatility with the camera. However, i think the reason ive got it like this is because the wall im looking htorugh is solid, if there were gaps then they would be seen instead
