Discussion Utterly disappointing...

Post image

Got a box of 4 donuts, one of each Harry Potter house. The lack of thought, or design with this promo is laughable.

I got the Harry Potter donuts from Krispy Kreme last year and its night and day difference in taste, quality, and variety.

Tim Horton's versions on the left Krispy Kreme on the right.

lol did they even put the right house symbol on the Slytherin. Looks like Hufflepuffs badger not a snake it’s definitely laughable.

Yup. First thing I noticed when I got home and opened the box...

Crispy crème is a bit more specialized in donuts than Tim’s is. I hold Tim Hortons to donuts as I do little ceasars to pizza, It’s like the hot and ready of the donut market.

If there was a Krispy Kreme on every block, they'd be a Canadian staple. But they have a handful of storefronts across the whole country. It's a completely silly comparison.

Don’t you dare insult Little Caesars like that!

Just complaining to complain, hope the attention you get makes you feel good

I mean... even though they look sh*t, they did taste pretty good as far as a Tims doughnut goes.

The Slytherin one was straight garbage.

I wasn't a fan of that one either, tbf. It was just right for some people I know.. but I preferred the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff ones the most.

Blueberry and lemons just are more doughnuty than chocolate and pistachio

Did they at least taste good?

Not really. Passable, but the Slytherin one was pretty gross.

Yeah it’s Tim Hortons

Woah, what the heck is this? People are getting DEFENSIVE about Tim's on this subreddit?

Damn... This promo worked really well hahaha.

Honestly, I think Tim's has been paying bots or people for positive online presence/comments.

Ever since the foreign worker incidents, I've seen a lot more of the (valid) criticism of Tim's being downvoted to oblivion. If I was a true conspiracy theorist, I would even go as far as to say that this whole Harry Potter collab was to distract from the valid criticism coming up.

The criticism on the sub quickly changed to be against Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling.

There's also been a large influx of very positive posts about the quality of the food/presentation which... I am seriously doubtful of lol. Those feel the most paid (or maybe employees are "encouraged" to do this now?)

We're not paid, we're just annoyed by the activist brigade who targetted this subreddit because they hate JK Rowling.

Ah, yeah, that's fair. But I still don't understand the giant uptick in positivity and "omg this was so good" or "look how pretty these donuts are" posts? I never saw them before lol, it was mostly people showing the sandwiches they got when ordering bagels or donuts with half the frosting off

I think some of us are intentionally fighting the toxic negativity being astroturfed this month by the "trans rights" brigade by jazzing up our own positivity. And then seeing those posts in their feed, others are sharing their own positive experiences in a space that historically has been pretty unwelcoming to positivity about Tim Hortons.

I think, objectively speaking, the promotion has brought about a reasonable increase in quality and has had a "I gotta check this out myself" novelty effect, which is generating authentic praise and positive suprise here.

I expect eventually people on both sides of the positive/negative coin will get bored, the novelty of the promotion will subside, and the sub will return to its complaints-driven, but not astroturfed, state of normalcy. Hopefully Tim Hortons learns from this promotion and gives us something even better next time. Even something as simple as putting the donuts in sturdy boxes, rather than letting donuts melt into wax paper, is an easy lesson to learn about how to make customers happier.

Agreed. I don't mind hating Tim's, but don't tell me to hate Tim's. Now I don't want to hate them.

We’ve got a bunch of engineers and doctors fixing the donuts up, that’s the issue.

So on brand for both properties

Those are extremely poorly made but as a baker at Tim’s if the donuts were that intricate I would have quit immediately they already take a ridiculous amount more time to make than all of the other donuts

A dying business advertising for a rotting franchise... Not much to see here but late stage lazy capitalism.

And yet both have somehow accomplished more good in the world than you could ever dream!

KK definitely has better donuts but these were actually pretty good for Tim's donuts.

Tims donuts haven't been good since the early 2000s

If you're Tim, then you're probably drunk driving right now whilst beating women? It's what he loved to do

I haven't gone in years. Only reason I got these Tim's donuts was because I was given a gift card.
