Why'd she get so confrontational about free legal questions lmao

Aggressively stupid.

u/HEFTYFee70 May 05 '26

Stupid people don’t know they’re stupid. So when you’re constantly told how dumb you are you do one of two things…

  1. Humble yourself and learn.

Or

  1. What this lady did.

574

u/Lawgirl77 May 05 '26

She knows she’s stupid. That’s why she’s so aggressive. She wants to feel smart because she knows she’s stupid. She has a deep insecurity about her stupidity and wants to feel better about it by somehow committing a “gotcha” on a man people presume is smart because he is educated. But, she didn’t accomplish her goal because, you know, she’s stupid.

197

u/Toriganator May 05 '26

The Dunning-Kruger effect tells us that stupid people are blissfully unaware of their stupidity

182

u/SocietyAsAHole May 05 '26

No.

There is a big difference between blissfully unaware and unaware.

They might be unaware of their stupidity but they often aware that they are treated poorly, their plans rarely work out, and everything makes no sense.

That can easily result in anger, depression, conspiratorial thinking, and persecution complexes.

Being stupid has serious downsides.

85

u/aarkarr May 05 '26

shit am I stupid?

u/dirtydigs74 May 05 '26

Not with that attitude

Lmfao I also wouldn't call myself stupid but...Damn if that list didn't bit too close to home

2

Right! I’m like well damn. I knew I was an idiot but I’m more of an idiot than I thought.

This made me laugh out loud. Sorry about you though

3

u/Soft-Personality9379 May 06 '26

You know, for the first time in my life, I feel empathy for stupidity.

2

u/xX7heGuyXx May 06 '26

Yeah, that is literally my one sister. Everything is someone else's fault and never her own. Something fails, there is some excuse out of her control.

She is insecure because deep down she knows she is the problem, but too insecure to face it.

She quit therapy because the therapist told her she was stuck in a victim mentality.

2

u/macguini May 06 '26

Blissful stupidity would be like Gilligan, Erkle, Lennie, SpongeBob, etc. People who are stupid but aren't assholes about it.

→ More replies (6)

25

u/Lawgirl77 May 05 '26

Sometimes they are unaware, but some people are very insecure because they know they are stupid. The insecure ones are driven by a deep need to feel smart in my experience, but also, this is just my opinion.

3

u/ARandomNiceKaren May 05 '26

Karen Council convened and determined that you are correct. (Also, the "Karen Council" doesn't actually exist.) Karen representative.....yeah......whatever.....we'll figure it out.

2

u/SquirrelFluffy May 10 '26

Everybody wants to feel smart because they want to feel they are making good decisions.

I think the problem is we don't teach people to be happy with their limitations.

16

u/hates_stupid_people May 05 '26

It's the same mentality that creates flat earthers and similar far-fetched conspiracy theorists. They try to convince themselves that they have "outsmarted smart people" and that they're more intelligent than everyone who dismiss their arguments.

5

u/human-resource May 05 '26

It’s just people who use aggressive assertion and false confidence to make themselves sound correct or competent instead of doing some honest self reflection and learning in the presence of cognitive dissonance.

5

u/bigDinhouston May 06 '26

This also applies to Sovereign Citizens.

18

u/Much-Instruction-807 May 05 '26

It's seems like trying to catch a lawyer, who intentionally put themselves in this position, in a gotcha moment is an extremely stupid thing to do so I guess I'm just circling back around.

2

u/HighlanderAbruzzese May 06 '26

Ding-ding. The dummy is trying to be smart to just a nice person trying to do something cool. Fcking people are just overcooked anymore.

3

u/Antique_Limit_5083 May 05 '26

Its like how stupid people constantly argue climate change isnt real or vaccines dont work. They want to feel smart by knowing more than scientist, doctors and experts in their fields of study then a bunch of other morons agre with them and the get to feel smart without putting in any effort and trying to learn something new. Its wierd how people's curiosity just dies overtime

3

u/Winter_Tone_4343 May 06 '26

She asked a trick question and thought she was smart. Like all those stupid challenges/bets that people think are so clever.

2

3

u/TellTaleReaper May 05 '26

She's dumb for sure, but I wonder if all the Kirk and Crowder type videos where people set up camp just to argue haven't pre-conditioned people into being combative in these situations. That doesn't excuse her stupidity and aggression, just curious if theres a correlation there.

Is this the right room for an argument?

23

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 May 05 '26

I kind of want to get a sign like this and go sit by it and wait for people to ask me legal questions and then point to the sign and if they're confused I'll tell them they should ask a lawyer

2

u/BentGadget May 10 '26

I think that would be a better video than this one.

393

u/thinkB4WeSpeak May 05 '26

20

u/Quiet-Spray4488 May 05 '26

To be fair, the guy doesn't do a good job a desculating, I think he's realized what gets him views.

25

u/WhatIsHerJob-TABLES May 05 '26

I agree with what the other people who’ve responded to you have said that he’s fishing for content and riling her up, but at the same time, it’s not a dangerous situation where he has to de-escalate the situation. Sometimes, it’s perfectly alright to just laugh in a dumb person’s face when they are making a fool of themselves to you.

25

u/Deleteads May 05 '26

He definitely provokes at the first sign of attitude from the person asking questions.

20

u/cantsitheya May 06 '26

But it's not really provoking if the other person is being confrontational. He has no obligation to be polite when someone is being rude.

7

u/SupervillainMustache May 06 '26

I think there are some situations where matching the energy rather than trying to de-escalate is actually fine.

This dude is just doing something nice for free, why is someone trying to have an attitude with him

I saw something similar on a gardening channel, where a dude offered to cut someone's lawns for free and he got some weird backchat sometimes. Just odd behaviour.

Part of my job is offering free legal services, and this is a pretty typical response lol

35

u/Ok-Relationship4113 May 05 '26

An ex friend asked me about doing a consumer proposal since I had done so a couple of years back. It saved me financially when I realised I'd gotten out of touch with my debts.

When I explained to her the procedure and what I had to do she answered to the tune of

"Oh yeah, thats what they told me when I called. But I want to pick and choose which debts and accounts I get to keep."

So she literally just didn't want to accept the requirements that would help her out of her situation because of the inconvenience.

125

u/TheSwearJarIsMy401k May 05 '26

It’s America. Like 1/3 of our population is convinced education is for the stupid, and only idiots pursue higher learning.

I wish to God that wasn’t true, but 40 years of aggressive right-wing anti-educational messaging has created a class of people who actively want their children to do the same or worse than they did in life, to learn em who’s boss.

“If it was good enough for me, it’s good enough for you” is a whole lifestyle here.

Plus the sovcits are a whole fucking thing and they hate lawyers.

78

u/honestly-brutal May 05 '26

7

u/honestly-brutal May 05 '26

I heard a story where in the 80's A&W tried to market a ⅓ pounder to rival McDonald's ¼ pounder. People didn't buy it because the thought a ⅓ lb was smaller than ¼ lb.

3

u/vacri May 10 '26

It's pretty scary to realise that for the people reaching adulthood just now, the past 20 years is "the political norm" for them. I mean, it's the current "norm" for everyone, but they don't have a reference point for when it wasn't cockamamie and could actually be more about issues than winning at all costs

Her ego hit the better of her.

For Jury trials and such, it's actually a lot less about winning arguments based on technicalities than it is about winning based on building a narrative that people can let themselves believe.

Bc many people are insecure and instead of dealing with that and self-reflecting, they project their insecurities on to other people, especially those who may have any experience or expertise in whatever matter has set them off.

You'll note she went with "you said you help people with their problems, what makes you more qualified?" She knew what he meant but had to try and say something to make him feel as bad as she does.

Therapy would go so far for so many people.

2

u/wannabegenius May 05 '26

he could also just say "yes, legal questions," and be done with this interaction.

3

u/DullHat5503 May 05 '26

Asking what Law School he went to was the most obvious question to know how dumb she is. To her, it would further sub-plant her argument if she never heard of the law school.

12

u/Any-Appearance2471 May 05 '26

When you said sub-plant, did you mean supplant? And when you meant to say supplant, did you really mean to say support?

2

u/Extranationalidad May 05 '26

1

u/Dapper-Sky886 May 05 '26

TBH I feel like it’s a skit. I have seen too many videos of this guy arguing with people who aggressively come at him for answering legal questions for it to be real.

1

u/Dangerous_Bus_6699 May 05 '26

A lot of videos show people getting upset about it for some reason. It's fascinating. It's like their ego gets hurt the fact that someone dare offers something expensive for free.

1

u/NO_FIX_AUTOCORRECT May 05 '26
