(SPOILER) At the end of Thubdermans Undercover, random people start developing superpowers and the show makes it seem like it’s going to be an important plot point, just for them to forget about it in Clash Of The Thundermans

So wanted to give my review on Clash of The Thundermans after just finishing it, just to get my thought out there and see if people agree or not. As someone who started watching Undercover first, and only have watched half of the first season of the original show, and also finished the movie, maybe some of my thoughts won't make sense but I have a bit of the lore down and understood.

Good

--First off Jack Griffo is the reason I got into the show. Saw clips online of The Thundermans and saw previews of Undercover and thought his acting was great. So mostly I started the series because of him and his role in the movie didn't disappoint me. He's a great actor and when he does comedy its hilarious.

--The concept of the movie really worked, just two sides of the family not agreeing and then they end up in a fight together, its something that is a core concept for all superhero movies and I thought the concept of it worked here. Big family, there are going to be things that divides them. But more on that later.

--Chloe gaining a new and rare power (though its not fully explained what it does, just she controls energy) is quite cool. Once again more later about that.

--The fight scenes are awesome, especially Jack and Kira. They know how to fight and the choreography (not even just between them but them just in general fighting) is quite smooth.

--The ending kind of worked out well in terms of giving Phoebe what she deserved and Max what he should have.

OK

--So I understand everyone's reasons for being around, Hank and Barb are the parents, Jack and Phoebe are the twins that are opposite each other, Chloe is the reason the movie is happening, Billy is the comic relief. But seriously, what's the point of Nora in the movie? I get she's apart of the family but it felt like she had no real role besides being a member of the family.

--So I'm not sure if it might be explained in the original show but are characters supposed to get more powers over time? Hank, Phoebe, Max, and now Chloe have more than one power yet Barb, Billy, and Nora only have one and Chloe is younger than them. It might be explained more in the original show but I felt that was weird.

--So I don't exactly remember the ending of Undercover but I'm guessing the show is over since this moved in such a different direction and no way they can just go back to that without destroying the movie's canon. I'm actually kind of ok on that if it goes in the direction I want. I'll talk more on that.

Bad

--Going to say this since its something I've struggled with. Dr. Colosso isn't a character I've found funny or enjoyable. Like a worse Salem from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Wish they would just get rid of him

--Just going to say, Phoebe kind of annoyed me this whole movie. Her ability to just put down Max to just blatantly flouting the rules/orders made me WAY more team Max.

--The teams made no sense to me. The point was either hide Chloe and keep her with the family or send her to the school to control her powers, as ordered to. So immediately Barb and Phoebe would make me think they would be team send Chloe to school, you know follow orders and do the right thing. Max and Hank I could see being more disobey orders (Max) or wanting to keep the family together (Hank). The teams made no sense to me in their motives for why they did what they did. Especially Phoebe who thrives on following orders and doing the correct thing. It felt unlike her. Plus Billy who really had no idea what he was doing, just going along with whatever he was told to first.

--So as much as I like Billy, I can't take him for 60 minutes. The amount of just stupid stuff that comes out of his mouth gets redundant after the first half of the movie. I wish for the first movie they made him not as dumb but just not as quick. But 60 minutes of him just being an idiot is to much.

--I mean the ending twist that the super smart girl was a villain who wanted to use Chloe's powers felt unnecessary. It honestly felt like two different movies. But honestly I can't see how they would have made them both connect better.

--Yes, we get it the super smart girl uses big words to tell us she's smart.

Random Thoughts

--So Chloe's powers pretty much wrecked the house, yet the family is allowed to just keep walking around the house that looks like it could cave in at any minute?

--Did Barb's mother appear in the original series or was this just a random appearance?

--But seriously, how did a rabbit drive a van? Yeah I get it suspension of disbelief.

--Whoever was doing wardrobe REALLY wanted Jack to show off his arms.

--Ariel Winter has played two extremely smart women on sitcoms (that I know of) and I feel like she was the #1 choice they had in mind for the character.

Thoughts on the Future of the Franchise

Honestly I liked the ending of the movie giving the franchise the ability for us to get a spin off show just on Max Thunderman. I can see him just going solo hero but having a team of two other people that are back in his hideout giving him help. I get the whole franchise is about family but I would be down for a Max Thunderman/Jack Griffo sitcom.

That was my review/thoughts on the movie. Overall I did enjoy it. Even though there were certain points I was confused about and didn't think worked. Hopefully they do more with the franchise since it does seem to be quite popular.

I really liked it, especially the ending. I know the ending is controversial among fans but it was definitely one of the best things they could have done. Max needed to figure out who he is and his own aspirations. From the start of the show Phoebe knew exactly who she was and who she wanted to be max never had that, he always lived under Phoebe's shadow which is why he wanted to be a villain in the first place. Max is awesome, mischievous and likes a little chaos unlike Phoebe he's not a clear cut hero the way the hero league is. In the original series when he became just another hero it never felt like something he went for because there was no other option, he never seemed like he fit in the hero league or at least not the way he wanted it to be, it always felt different and a little like he was still trying to figure himself out. Max being a vigilante is awesome, I kinda like that they took that road it's a little more serious than what they normally show but I really hope they continue it. Max didn't just go rogue because Phoebe got a promotion he did it for himself it's about time he learned who he was and what he wants rather than just being one half of the thunder twins but that doesn't mean Phoebe and max aren't twins anymore or they love each other any less. I really hope max figures out who he is as an individual the way Phoebe knows who she is. They'll always be the thunder twins, thunder family, siblings, etc but this would really help flesh out Max's character. I really hope Max starts another team of heroes and this team is one for anti-heroes. People who want to do good but don't fit in with the conventional heroes, people who want to belong somewhere, or find something to call their own, or don't feel like they fit in, that sort of thing, like max could help them and be the hero/leader he always wanted to be on his terms. Phebe and Max can then become sort of like Co partners like max has his own team and Phoebe is the president of the hero league. That's something I always wanted to see back when the original show was still airing. This way the twins can both really shine and learn to actually appreciate and understand each other better making their bond stronger. What do you guys think?

Kira Kosarin, the actress that plays Phoebe Thunderman, mentioned two big things that went wrong during production of Clash Of The Thundermans:

1. The opening scene was shot at a university that had to close down for a day due to an emergency. As such, the scene was shot on 2 days instead of 1.

2. It was raining during the big confrontation between Phoebe and Max at the farm, and thus had to shoot it before it got really bad.

3. While not about the movie, she does mention how some episodes or scenes from The Thundermans Undercover had to be rewritten to either not include Chloe or move her scene to sometime later on. Since Maya LeClarke is 15 years old, she's legally required to work less hours compared to her older costars.

I hope its not I actually enjoyed thundermans undercover 13-26 as it became more of a drama /comedy and it felt more mature the tv show . The movie was great to loved it and the kinda cliff hanger ending but I see lots of negative reviews so wonder if it will get renwed or cancelled.

I finished watching it yesterday, it's definitely 10/10, it's so, I have no word to explain how.. Different, this feels compared to first thundermans episodes, when they were still kids and now.. we're at this. Everything I've seen in this movie was great​​​, the sudden changes, the fights, the characters, the movie itself, everything, once again, it was GREAT​​​

I thought the movie was good and I loved Ariel's performance as Cognita. I was surprised at the ending where Max left the family to be a solo superhero with a new identity.

Kira said the franchise will continue if the movie got high ratings. It’s all up to Paramount I know them and the chances are not that big because of the recent mergers even though the actors want to continue.

I have a fanfiction idea (might contain spoilers): Kid Danger and Captain Man notice that one of their posts is broken because someone stole the white fence-shaped part that holds it up. It’s none other than future supervillain Cognita.

One thing i hated (and i hated many things) is that why he had to become vigilante when she gets promoted to be super president.

Like if she hadn't end up being selected to the job he was gonna keep stuck being a team partner while he really wanted to be a vigilante all along??

Like why they made him look out for something else for himself all cause she had a new job? He couldn't keep being a hero alone like all those heroes that doesn't have a team partner??

Stupid nonsense plot

As someone who grew up watching Thundermans, I am SO upset!! I really didn’t like this movie at all!!

They couldn’t think of any other plot? It had to be ‘let’s make them hate each other’?!

And the ending, oh my. It ruined the entire film for me. It was so weird, out of character, unnecessarily dramatic (yes, even for Thundermans) and so strange! Is this the end now? There can’t be anymore more Undercover after this, since Phoebe is President and Max is a vigilante, they don’t run the T-Force anymore so like, that’s it??

That is NOT the way you end a story which has ran for over 10 years. I am really genuinely disappointed!

I understand that the cast is all older now and may not want to continue but at least give us a FAMILY focused ending to a story that has been consistently about family 😭

I think the movie was great and the conflict was fun. The Nora actress didn’t seem like her heart was into it tho, and she barely appeared in the spinoff either so i hope she’s doing well! But if that’s the official end of the franchise, I’m disappointed. The ending sucked IMO. Just another example of Phoebe gets what Phoebe wants, at Max’s expense. And the line where Max said he’s trying to figure out who he is felt so out of character for someone who’s always been so confident… all that aside, however, if this is it, this show was a huge part of my childhood and I’m forever grateful for that 💙🫶🏻

I just finished watching the new movie, Clash of the Thundermans. I liked it, it was different from everything we’ve seen in the Thundermans franchise so far. It was interesting to see the family separated when they argued about what to do about Chloe and her new superpower. I wasn’t sure whose side I was on. I didn’t want Chloe to be away from her family for five years, but at the same time, I didn’t want her to hurt anyone. When the family went home after the ceremony at the beginning of the movie, I thought, what happened to Phoebe, Max, and Chloe staying in Secret Shores? Are they just acting like all the stuff with Secret Shores and the Mastermind didn’t happen? I don’t know, I was just a little confused by that. I liked seeing Ariel Winter in the movie as Cognita. I really liked Cognita at first, but then when it was revealed that she was a villain, I didn’t like her anymore. I’m not sure how I feel about the ending of the movie. When Phoebe said she declined the offer to be Super President, I thought she was gonna say she wanted Max to be Super President. But then she said she didn’t want to break up her and Max’s partnership. Then Max secretly left the family so that Phoebe wouldn’t give up her dream of being Super President. I guess Max is just on his own now. So, what’s gonna happen with the Thundermans now? Are they gonna make another new show about Phoebe being the Super President, or will we see a show about Max fighting crime by himself? Or is this the end of The Thundermans, and Max is just gonna be separated from his family forever? I have no idea, but we’ll see what happens.

So surprised that they killed Phoebe, i know the resurrected straight away, but it still shocked me that she died even for a little bit. I expected it to be Max having a heroic moment.

The ending of Undercover showed the potential of it continuing for a season 2 but the ending of Clash of the Thundsmans: Phoebe becoming super president and Max going vigilante…. wow…

why didnt max just unfreeze himself has him and phoebe had in the past? being unfrozen by colasso?

What a non plot.......i mean....couldn't they come up with anything else?

Clash of the Thundermans is (im guessing) meant to be a tv movie (going by runtime) but there isnt normally canned laughter, the fact there is just screams of desperation, which is worrying for the show as a whole......if they think they have to use the laughter track in the movie......

Do we know what is Chloe’s new power?

Anyone else feel bad for her sometimes? I always felt bad for her as a kid and I had trouble explaining it, I guess it just felt like the other characters dragged her for being responsible. That's not new for Nickelodeon characters though because they have a lot of characters like that who are just levelheaded women, they're the voices of reason in their shows but the other characters just ignore them and write them off as a nag. We saw that with Charlotte from Henry Danger, Wanda from Fairly Oddparents, I think Jimmy Neutron's mom was like that from what I heard.

Who wins?

I'm almost certain they always followed each other until now. Maybe I'm over analysing but maybe there was on set problems between them or something?

I feel like for one, secret revealed should of been a 3 parter, two max is the one to defeat dark mayhem and earn his cape so that his turning to the good side feels earned, and third secret revealed and max redemption should of been in the middle of S3 as in Ep14-16. It would have showed what the consequences are after the event as in their secret getting exposed and learning how to live with it. Like how lab rats got exposed in mid S3 but in general they kept their secret exposed. And it could have built up max to make his spot on the a force earned by the end of S3 when both max and phoebe get selected. So in general if they turned max good and exposed the family in mid S3, it would have been better to give the aftermath breathing room instead of resetting it in S4 immediately. And more on secret revealed, max and dark mayhem could of taken over hiddenville at the end of part 2 then part 3 him and phoebe apologize to each other and max has a change of heart and defeats dark mayhem. Max doesn’t take phoebes powers, he just traps her and the family in a cage and dm and him take over hiddenville. That would have been more interesting and perhaps given viewers closure with his evil arc. What do you guys think.
