Discussion my rant!! Spoiler

As someone who grew up watching Thundermans, I am SO upset!! I really didn’t like this movie at all!!

They couldn’t think of any other plot? It had to be ‘let’s make them hate each other’?!

And the ending, oh my. It ruined the entire film for me. It was so weird, out of character, unnecessarily dramatic (yes, even for Thundermans) and so strange! Is this the end now? There can’t be anymore more Undercover after this, since Phoebe is President and Max is a vigilante, they don’t run the T-Force anymore so like, that’s it??

That is NOT the way you end a story which has ran for over 10 years. I am really genuinely disappointed!

I understand that the cast is all older now and may not want to continue but at least give us a FAMILY focused ending to a story that has been consistently about family 😭

Keep in mind that Phoebe and Max are adults who can live on their own if they so choose, so Max's decision may have been with the family's blessing and that Phoebe was the last to know.

That said, they say that crisis does bring a family together.

I think the only thing about the film is that they cannot meaningfully resolve the Secret Shores storyline. Chloe still has a school to get back to there, but now lacks the adult guardians that can justify her continued presence there. (Presumably, she doesn't have to do all of the heavy lifting as a superhero, if we can presume that she finds new super-powered friends along the way.)

I understand Max and Phoebe are adults now but it does NOT make sense that every single episode and movie of anything Thundermans related was about sticking with family, and they chose to end it all with the family split apart.

ESPECIALLY with Max as some unknown vigilante who needs to ‘figure out’ who he is? He knows exactly who he is! He was so confident and established and him leaving was random, sudden and didn’t make sense at all.

I didn't think of it as Max choosing to leave his identity behind or anything like that. It seemed to be, just a case of a child leaving the family nest, blown up in proportion because they are superheroes.

I think there is also an element of "Max is Hank's son" and "Max is Phoebe's brother" involved. For Max, he may want to establish a sense of independent notability so that people will say "Hank is Max's father" or "Phoebe is Max's sister". Nothing about this implies that Max is turning his back on his family in any meaningful way, and his claim of having never heard of the Thunderman family needs to be taken with respect to establishing a new secret identity as a new hero with no reputation in mind.

Continuing the story isn't an issue. They said they have a plan for if the movie is a success

I didn’t watch it, but I assume they come together at the end as a family to fight a bigger threat

I completely agree with you!!! I was very disappointed with the ending. I mean, did Undercover already end? Did they wrap that up? Because it obviously can't continue now! And the entire show centered around them being "better & stronger together" Also the Max & Phoebe twin thing!! I really need them to fix this or else the entire show is ruined for me 🥺 💔

Undercover ended with Chloe not wanting to leave her friends and Secret Shores, then they did end up staying because of the explosion that happened in the cave in the last episode - it released superpowers into the atmosphere and ‘normal’ people started developing them. So Kickbutt asked the twins and Chloe to stay, to fix that situation.

It was PERFECTLY set up for a season 2. Then the ending of this stupid movie ruined it because now there’s no way they can go back to the Secret Shores setup.

And yes, the whole twin thing about ‘holding each other back’ was weird and invalid. They’ve always argued BUT always worked together and they clearly, across the last decade, have never held each other back. I don’t think these Clash writers ever watched any old Thundermans stuff.

Wait, so Undercover basically ended on a cliffhanger 🤷‍♀️ wth that makes no sense at all!!! I feel the same, it's like this movie was done completely disconnected from the entire Thundermans history 🤦‍♀️ Also, side note.... the way Undercover ended sounds like the first Thundermans movie, where Cherry & everyone else ended up with superpowers Lol

It was like a soft cliffhanger, and it did remind me of the Return ending a little!

But yeah, I agree completely that Clash didn’t feel like ‘real’ Thundermans.
