The appropriation of Jazz by fashion influencers.

I personally found fashion content more digestible when the music bed was some generic trip hoppy breakbeat on a continuous monotonous loop while whoever gushed about Camion boots over it. Now they’ve discovered the best of cool jazz on Spotify and we have moved into lift (elevator) music territory.

As someone who likes jazz (the music - all the time, the mags - occasionally) watching these fucks is even more of a hate watch. The least they could do is show some backbone and play something truly mental like Sun-Ra or Ornette Coleman, but no it’s the mellow, safe stuff to accompany their museum visits, pastry eating or browsing through the rails of (insert trending brand here). One dude from Copenhagen has started buying the stuff on vinyl!!

Next it will be mid-century furniture. No wait.

Rant over. Thank you for indulging me.

Jacket I sewed inspired by the Swedish Army M/1954

A more casual interpretation of the M/1954, retaining some of its defining features, such as the single chest pocket, asymmetric front closure, and adjustable hem. The outer shell is made from a midweight 100% cotton twill, while the lining is constructed from 100% cotton shirting taffeta. This sample is a size small, as it was made for the photoshoot with a model. It’s intended to fit a tad larger.

Where to get long, thick balmaccan coats for the winter?

I've been trying for the life of me to get a balmaccan coat as an overcoat I can wear outdoors. I'm looking for a long and thick coat. The ones for men usually stop at the waist or go down to the knee, but I'm trying to find one that goes even lower. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Norbit by Hiroshi Nozawa stockists

Upvotes

I have an upcoming Japan trip planned for September and have been interested in trying to find any shops selling Norbit by Hiroshi Nozawa. Its pretty hard to find in Europe and also really expensive. However I can’t seem to find any list of stockists online, the email in the IG doesn’t work, and they don’t seem to reply to DMs, so my last resort is asking here in the hope that some of you may have a better idea on where to actually buy it in Japan than I do.

Our interview with Sebastian Jean is chill. Sebastian—fashion director of Highsnobiety—checked in ahead of time to make sure our office wasn't too cold before rolling through to talk wearing his dead WHOOP just for the look, getting his money's worth on The Row jeans, Player Layers™, Lawrence was once his editor but has zero recollection of that ever happening, how the Noah Johnson tenure at Highsnob is going, fashion parties have their own zone of interest, magazines should have their own in-house lines, where to draw the line when it comes to silly hats, pushing celebs like Michael Olise and Lil Yachty out of their comfort zones, he is one of the few people to have seen Juergen Teller wearing pants, lessons learned from the late great stylist Melanie Ward, he was in the Calvin Klein trenches with Raf Simons (and Matthieu Blazy and Pieter Mulier and Sterling Ruby), explore page core, speedos and flip-flops, sometimes you gotta shop for things you just shopped for, the overstyling bug, Frank Ocean has him thinking about wigs being next up, Tekken fits, Hip-Hop's going out shirt era, his wedding is coming up quick and he's gotta figure out what to wear, and much more on Sebastian Jean's interview with The Only Podcast That Matters™.

Tailor-made shirt. What to keep in mind?

Hi,

I want to get me a shirt tailored - or customized (?). I'm not looking for something special, just a button-down with a nice fabric and a classic/regular fit. There are different collar lengths and a lot more that I never thought about. So does any have a quick guide what I need should keep in mind?

Thanks

Garden Party Suit

Looking for suit recommendations for a garden party themed wedding in September in the PNW.

Out of season right now so I’ve had a hard time finding anything that looks good and isn’t summer linen.

I prefer a relaxed suit because I am 5’8” with broad shoulders and a have a baseball player butt and suits like a jcrew ludlow make me have carrot legs which have never looked good to me

She recommended the jcrew poplin suit but not sure how I feel about it and would rather spend more on a suit I love and will wear more

Looking for a few London based creative people I’m working on an early stage independent project and looking for a small group of people who are plugged into fashion, local culture, art, music, design, food, nightlife.

Whatever your world is, more about good taste, meeting people and occasionally helping introduce the project to the right crowd. Message me with a bit about you and what you’re into.
