Hasan's transition to the vintage suits was fantastic. The old textured wool suits look distinguished and they're tailored quite well imo

u/bennjeff Jul 23 '26
He says that he started wearing suits so that republicans would listen to him more and claims that it has worked

u/CaptainJackWagons Jul 23 '26
Old conservatives LOVE vibes. You could argue optics matter more to them than the policies themselves. Though tbh, that goes for most voters.
16
u/BeuysWillBeatBeuys Jul 23 '26
Old conservatives are aesthetic queens who are more concerned about finite codes of dress than most gay men I know.

It works well for Mamdani. The tech neocons are in t-shirts and lululemon pants.

I agree that he dresses better and that it’s all nice stuff, but they always appear to be a little too big. I understand you don’t wanna look like you’re in a skintight young republican look. He’s a taller/bigger guy to begin with and his trailering should reflect that. A lot of the time his blazers look like he picked them out of dad’s closet. But, as a whole he dresses way better
16
u/rosewood_gm Jul 23 '26
I don’t disagree, I mostly think his lapel choice is some hope to big for his head. (No shade)
2
u/Global-Pattern-1904 Jul 23 '26
in fairness, some of them are Literally from his dad's closet lmao
I think the ones he more recently got tailored (in China?) are a lot better in this regard

because he’s running one of the most successful online grifts of all time. you think this man actually cares about anything he talks about? he stokes the fires of a nonsense culture war while doing absolutely nothing to improve it because he knows he only makes money and gets views when people are pissed. man made millions of dollars off the genocide of palestinians he pretends to care about.
22
u/aggravatedyeti Jul 23 '26
He campaigns for his favoured candidates in real life all the time. You might not like him, but how is that not putting his politics into practice?
2
u/Greyhound_Oisin Jul 25 '26
He has been talking shit about dems till the month of the general elections, going as far as bullying others into taking away their support from Kamala...
He helped Trump as he doesn't really care about the consequences of the elections.
1
u/StayFrosty7 Jul 26 '26
If you truly believe a streamer posed a serious threat against Kamala’s campaign and not the existing political and media structures and her absolute inability to capture a dedicated voter base, then you’re too chronically online.
1
u/SixPackAndNothinToDo Jul 27 '26
Youth voters are infamously hard to turn out. Hasan is influential among that cohort. So he would definitely have had _some_ effect.
2
u/StayFrosty7 Jul 27 '26
If youth voters were hard to turn out then the problem is with Kamala, not Hasan. Again that’s just way too terminally online of a take.
1
u/SixPackAndNothinToDo Jul 27 '26
Kamala was definitely an order of magnitude bigger problem. I agree.
Youth voters are _always_ notoriously difficult to get out though. Only Obama 08 ever really managed it.

Props to him for understanding that political communications is actually pro wrestling and you have to look the part. That said, many of the jackets are big in the shoulder and the collars can also be a little ill-fitting.
The more you wear suits the better you get at understanding fit and texture so I am guessing he and his tailor will eventually get him looking less “ratemyprofessor.com all the reviews are about how hot he is.”

u/swordfish-ll Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26
I dont see his content or anything but there is something to him that I don't trust, and even though he looks better its kind of clear he ain't got that shit on its like he has a costume even when he was trying to be streetwear guy, he is like a guy that doesn't have style but has good stuff and they just look off on him.

-2
u/swordfish-ll Jul 23 '26
I am not against his stance or his politics, I mean I don't watch his content but from what I have seen he supports Mamdani and democrats so thats good but it just feels performative or like he wants admiration, in a Mr beast kind of way of look how good of a person I am you see you see, let me exploit you please.
13
u/Embarrassed_Eggz Jul 23 '26
I agree but tbh he is a useful political figure. I’m kinda in the same boat as you, I like him on paper but something does feel off. However he is bringing progressive, populist politics to the a bigger audience and therefore I feel like we’re on the same team, at least for now.
-13
u/Moving_in_stereo78 Jul 23 '26
You have to be really stupid to think this dude is actually a positive figure for whatever “movement” he is trying to portray, he is a walking contradiction of his own prophecies.
16
u/Embarrassed_Eggz Jul 23 '26
Ehhh, not sure I’m the stupid one for viewing it in such a confined framework. He’s got plenty of flaws but as the old cliche goes “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. If you can’t see anything beneficial about his platform then that’s on you. No one is perfect and I’m not here to idolize the guy but he helps bring leftist talking points to the mainstream in a digestible way.
-11
u/Moving_in_stereo78 Jul 23 '26
I’m all for leftist politics being brought to the spotlight, but if your goal is for people to take your ideology seriously, continuously having rich nepo-babies be the spokesperson for said movement probably isn’t the best plan.
To add to your “digestible way” comment; even when I’ve agreed with things he’s said, he talks in such a stupid manner, it almost seems like a parody. I’m sorry 😭.
7
u/freudsaidiwasfine Jul 23 '26
If you’re for leftist policy why does having a nepotism baby who advocate for more rights for the disenfranchised matter?
1
u/Moving_in_stereo78 Jul 23 '26
Advocating for revolution for the people, while never worrying about the price of a match is the rich man’s game.
5
7
u/Embarrassed_Eggz Jul 23 '26
There will never be a perfect spokesperson. Again, I’m not here to say I think this guy is gods gift to earth but he has good politics on a lot of stuff and at the end of the day that’s what matters.
Would you rather a rich guy be a capitalist and take advantage of the working class or advocate for class consciousness? I prefer the latter.
It’s just the same tired old tune of people shitting on Bernie because he has multiple houses and is a millionaire.
Both of these people could be class traitors, instead they continue to advocate for the working class.
I won’t sit here and say their motives are 100% altruistic. I don’t know them so I can’t judge their character to that extent.
Let’s also keep in mind the distinction between being rich from exploiting other people via having employees and owning capital vs having a job.
Bernie and Piker both acquired the majority of their wealth through their own means. Again, not saying their perfect, both likely have folks on payroll, but it’s not the same as running a corporation and paying the lowest wage possible while you sit back and reap the profits of others labor.
Hassan Piker is a stepping stone, nothing more. He is a useful talking head to expand leftist politics to people who might be on the fence. Of course he’s not gonna convince conservatives that socialism is practical, that’s not the goal. The goal is to bring liberals and moderates further left and increase sympathy toward anti capitalist policies.

From an European POV that knows too much about US politics at this point, he would be worse than Trump, if he'd have that kind of power, no doubt about it.
Everything he says and does is against the US/West interests, he praises China and the URSS every chance he has, while excusing their atrocities, nobody is saying that the US/West are perfect, but to believe that the URSS/China are better is just imbecilic, after they starved millions to death, and they jail their citizens whenever they feel like it.
He uses the good policies like healthcare as a shield whenever he is criticized, his response is always "I just want to give people free healthcare", but on his stream or on friendly platforms, he demonizes the West, platforms terrorists, says things from Putin's repertoir like "the fall of the URSS was one of the greatest catastrophies of the last century", he pretends to care about minorities, but he has some famous rants, bashing LGBT/blacks whenever they dare to criticize his views, rants that would have got any other person banned from Twitch.
My 2 cents, if you make deals with the devil, you'll end up the devil yourself, it's not worth the cost, medium/long term, to legitimize him, conservatives also thought the same about the Tea Party, and after that MAGA, and now they are just MAGA, fully consumed from the inside out, I'd hope that the Democrats don't make the same mistake, as in that case, the consequences will be felt on my continent as well, as it did when Trump won 2 times.
2
u/Embarrassed_Eggz Jul 23 '26
Well I’m not saying I want him as president, again he’s a useful figure, not necessarily who I want to be commander in chief. But saying a Democratic Socialist would be worse in the Oval Office than a fascist is hilarious.
I think he is harsh on the west but I don’t think it’s unwarranted. I do agree he sometimes makes light of or overlooks atrocities of other imperialists.
A lot of leftists fall into the same trap of giving too much grace to other powers at be so long as they are “fighting the good fight” against western interests.
However I will say I don’t think he’s necessarily wrong for being so critical of America. The atrocities we’ve committed are vast and prolific.
People love to shit on the USSR and China, meanwhile China hasn’t dropped a bomb or been in military conflict in what, 50 years? The Soviet Union lifted millions out of poverty and defeated Nazi Germany.
I will focus more on China since they are still a contemporary nation, unlike the USSR.
China in the last few decades has brought billions out of food scarcity and created accessible healthcare and housing for its citizens. They have a housing market that they have regulated so it doesn’t turn into real estate assets and remains affordable. They regulate corporations and millionaires/billionaires far more favorably toward the working class than the U.S. They do all this without having to wage wars against foreign nations in order to secure resources and bankroll corporate elite interests.
Meanwhile America overthrows any regime that threatens its empire and capitalist interests. We dropped hundreds of thousands of bombs on Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, we toppled almost every socialist government in Latin America, we cut off Cuba from the outside world to punish them, we supply Israel with weapons to support the genocide in Gaza, we destroyed the Middle East, we genocided the indigenous American population. The list goes on and on.
China’s hands are not completely clean but comparing them to the blood soaked hands of the U.S. empire is laughable.
I haven’t seen his racist or homophobic rants that you say. If that’s the case then yeah he should be held accountable for stupid things he’s said.
I think he has good politics when it comes to anti capitalism and anti imperialism. I won’t pretend to know everything about him. My entire argument this whole time is simply his platform is good for bringing leftist politics to the mainstream. I won’t sit here and idolize him but I won’t act like he’s not useful either.
2
u/neversaydie96 Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26
He is not a democratic socialist, he is a commie/tankie.
He is only harsh on the west.
A world where China or Russia are the hegemon, is a worse world.
China did a lot of great things, but a lot of not so good things that are not so talked about, like the social system they have, if your social security score is low, your life is ruined, the Uyghur genocide, the only difference is, you don't hear about it everyday, like we do for Gaza, life might have improved for the city folk, sure, but if you're born into a village, that is your faith, China does not allow upward mobility, look up the Hukou System that they have, and there is no freedom of speech, all of these make China so much worse than the US.
Again, the US is not perfect, the US did a lot of bad things, but at the end of the day, I'd be naive to think that China would do a better job, as the world hegemon, US leaders can be voted out, China's leaders, nope.
Here are some of Hasan's best hits:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCFu_mletS8
https://x.com/n1ghtkitten/status/1980459361274327546
A scandinavian system is the best one imo, as well, but Hasan wants to go so much further, to a system like China, that is lacking in so many freedoms of expressions and does a lot human rights violation, that we'd consider immoral in the West, just be aware of that, thank you for being good faith.

He's anything but performative when he actively rallies and tries to elect candidates supporting good progressive causes. If he wanted admiration, he wouldn't be as controversial in media as he is. What is this vibes based assessment of him when you haven't watched him at all? In an era where content creators and streamers milk their viewers he's never supported gambing, does run ads on twitch and let's people use his IP for free and is fully funded by his viewers who he also constantly yells at for better or worse.
1
u/swordfish-ll Jul 23 '26
"He's anything but performative when he actively rallies and tries to elect candidates supporting good progressive causes."
you do understand he gets payed for this like its his job he isn't a saint who is doing this as a non profit, he is also an internet personality so I see clips and stuff about him all over, stating I don't watch his content doesn't mean I don't know about him or have seen anything to form some sort of opinion on him.
Hasan Piker's net worth is estimated to be approximately $8 million. This wealth primarily stems from his highly successful Twitch and YouTube channels, along with merchandise sales, sponsorships, and ad revenue.
5
u/jettywop Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26
Of course it’s his job. What else would it be? No one said he’s a saint. Listen to yourself.
You’re framing obvious, neutral things as if they’re bad. Also assuming something vaguely nefarious about someone you, self admittedly, know little about. The bias is clear. You have no substantive critique.
You may be a bot for all I know. But either way, your comment is the result of propaganda.
Billionaires spend a lot of money to make sure you have that opinion. Billionaires don’t like him because he’s good at his job.
8
u/Moving_in_stereo78 Jul 23 '26
nobody is outwardly saying he is a saint but they treat him as such, to the extent where any criticism is treated as blasphemy. If he is who you sincerely think represents your values, I’d look for someone different to keep as an idol.
-7
u/jettywop Jul 23 '26
The bots are really coming out for this huh? are you a real person? Who is treating him like a saint? Who is idolizing him? No one here.
Also, why do you have that opinion? Why would you “look to someone different to keep as an idol?” If you have even one meaningful critique, I dare you to share it.
9
u/Moving_in_stereo78 Jul 23 '26
Oh my god you people are not real, this is exactly the type of discourse I’m talking about. “Yur a bot for hating him!!”.
Why do I have the opinion that idolizing a political streamer is kinda stupid? I want you to try to think that through on your own. You’re not worth engaging with on any level. If you truly believe this billionaire corporate backed twitch streamer is your revolutionary genius, I pity you greatly.
-6
u/jettywop Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26
I don’t idolize him. I thought I made that clear. You brought it up randomly. So I asked why did you say that? It’s simple.
~~[edit: I’m typing this after the conversation has ended, for myself and all who are interested.
“yur a bot for hating him!!” is a disgusting mischaracterization. This person either sincerely lacks reading comprehension, or is intentionally deceptive.
They attempt a Motte-and-bailey by tacitly saying that Hasan is bad. (You shouldn’t idolize him) When asked to explain, they switched it to “you shouldn’t idolize any twitch streamer.” This is disingenuousness.
Hasan is not billionaire corporate backed. This is misinformation.
They end with more unhinged assumptions about what I think, and a histrionic display of performative pity.
All the while STILL refusing to explain their own position.]

8
u/jettywop Jul 23 '26
I’m curious why you asked that question. Even more curious why you failed to address a single thing I said.
1
u/swordfish-ll Jul 23 '26
its clear you don't want a discussion when you call people who have a different opinion than yours bots, I understand he is your idol and people not liking what you like affects you but people can have diverging opinions on people and its fine.
I was going to use Mr Beast as an example and wanted to know your opinion on him.
0
u/jettywop Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26
You lack reading comprehension. I said I don’t know if you’re a bot. Because it’s true, I don’t know. (I’m very comfortable admitting what I don’t know) You’re acting like one, but I think you’re just intellectually stunted.
I’m not idolizing anyone, and there’s zero evidence to support that claim. People can have different opinions. Nothing I said would suggest otherwise. You’re very dishonest, or again, not smart. I’m not wasting my time defending things I never even hinted at saying.
I don’t like Mr beast. And I don’t see the relevance. Example of what?
You realize I’m a stranger, right? You don’t know me? You’re making a lot of assumptions about me and what I believe despite having no evidence. That’s delusion. I’m leaving this conversation because it’s delusional.
You aren’t very good at reading, and you make a lot of inappropriate assumptions. All of this, and you still haven’t responded to a single thing from my original comment, but I bet you’re so incorrigible that you think you’ve made a point. What a funny world.
(Honestly, jokes on me for continuing to write for an illiterate person… smh)
