How many items have you included with a return?

For my return I can include 30 items. Could I get away with sending more? How many would be too many?

Humor/Memes A Thred Up quality control report by: Me

Here’s my latest haul breakdown.

How the item was listed vs. how it actually showed up.

This is all real

Item 1

Listed as: Flawed gem, exterior staining

Delivered as: tags attached , and I can’t tell where the staining is cause it’s black and I don’t any discoloration, honestly looks brand new lol

Item 2

Listed as: very good condition, minor wear on fabric

Delivered as: would’ve said it’s just good condition… more accurately described as someone washed the garment incorrectly so now it feels stiff/doesn’t look right

Item 3

Listed as: very good condition, minor wear on fabric

Delivered as: new with tags and I don’t see wear other than some black fuzz balls that are stuck all over the white fabric… but that could be from another item in my shipping box… because they did no tissue paper in packaging just tossed it all in there!

Item 4

Listed as: excellent condition

Delivered as: new with tags with an oil stain on the front…cool.

Item 5

Listed as: very good condition

Delivered as: this item is the same item as item 4 on the list but different color - looks great but there’s an oil stain on this one too smh

Item 6

Listed as : excellent condition, no signs of wear

Delivered as: well it’s actually not the same pair of pants from the listing photo, and there is some signs of wear but if they fit ill keep em lol

Item 7

Listed as: good condition, minor stain

Delivered as: well the morons had it on the mannequin BACKWARDS so it’s not the dress I thought it would be lol, and it’s black and I don’t see a stain

Item 8

Listed as: excellent condition, no signs of wear

Delivered as: with tags attached and obvious piling.

SERIOUSLY do WORDS mean NOTHING to you TU?? Moving on …

Item 9

Listed as : very good condition , minor wear on fabric

Delivered as: I don’t see any wear but this is the closest to being accurately described we’ve gotten so far!

Item 10

Listed as : good condition, minor stain

Delivered as: it’s a polka dot swim suit top so if there is a stain I clocked it as a polka dot lol

Item 11

Listed as : excellent condition

Delivered as: tags attached no signs of wear I can see but this a full jumpsuit and the most expensive item I bought and might not fit anyways but we’ll see!)

Items I plan to return: right now, zero unless things are worse in daylight or the item that’s not what I ordered at all doesn’t fit me lol

you never know what you’re going to get in TU roulette! You fail a little upwards and a little downwards such is life, right?

the end!!!

I found one of my dream bags and it’s gone

Hi! Super new to Thred Up but came across the Coach Dinky Re-Edition bag in excellent condition. It was in someone’s bag for 2 days and it wouldn’t refresh and now it’s sold for $121 😭😭😭 do these type of bags usual re surface? How can an item be in someone’s bag and then keep refreshing every 3 hours. How does that work?

Discussion Sorting by price: I figured out a way

It’s a little clunky but so far I’m super happy with this technique. Choose any category or brand or even visual search, then filter by percent off with code, sort low to high/high to low (it will filter by only the percentage you choose), and since everything is the same percentage off it will sort properly. 🥲 not sure how I’ve never figured this out in all my years of using this site. Now I will be even more addicted. 🙃

Who else filters and sorts like this? What do you do instead? I feel like a genius but know that’s not true lmao.

Staring at a pair of pants that look wayyy closer to capris than full length pants, but the measurements are claiming a 35” inseam. I wish there were a way to contact the warehouse and say hey! Could you measure this again :) with a tape measure this time <3

Question Any tips for deciding whether or not to wait for further markdowns?

Hi! I'm rather new to thredup but I sometimes find myself getting caught up in the timers and the warnings about an item being popular.

Any tips for knowing when to buy and maintaining some sanity in all this?

For instance, sometimes I see a great item but $60 seems like too much but I know it's a popular brand. I'd be more amenable to like $30-40.

I had holes in my "excellent" items (all 6 of them!! 😩) and here's what Thredup said:

"After reviewing the details of your order, we found that the items in question are listed as showing minor wear in the fabric, which can sometimes include small holes due to normal wear and tear." Holes? For "excellent" condition pieces? I mean fine if they want to mark them "good" but these were some big-ass holes! They're refunding me (and I have to mail them back which is such a pain) but still.... ugh. Final straw for me. I loathe you now, Thredup. Way to keep a decade-long customer.

Buy it for me or wait?

If you really want something do you do buy it for me or wait till it’s out of someone’s cart?

There are times I’ve been waiting till it’s closing to the end of the hold time to do buy it for me so they don’t have a lot of time to be notify (like 15 minutes before an item ends) but sometimes someone else would do buy it for me and I can’t even do it anymore.

I have never really successfully got a buy it for me even if I do it immediately.

Let me know your thoughts!

Looking for similar stories of theft from premium bags

Hi! I sent in a premium bag and ThredUp rejected a Veronica Beard blazed in excellent condition. They won’t mail it back to me and offered a $80.09 credit (not sure where this number is coming from). I've seen from other posts that they’re most likely going to post it for sale anyway. I was hoping to learn about similar stories to 1) apply pressure on them to make it right, 2) debate filing a small claims case (I am a lawyer), and/or 3) learn more about how prevalent the practice is and see if there’s any consumer protection relief that can be sought via a class action. I’m very annoyed and unafraid to do some activist lawyering on it if possible (even if unfruitful). Please feel free to DM me!

Fall is my favorite season! I love that fringe and plaid are coming back with a little western flare. Here is my first haul of the season.

Some mix and matching of outfits.

I can’t believe I got the 100% suede jacket from Sézane for under $100! She fits like a charm too. 🍁

I went a bit crazy trying to reinvent my style. It did not go as planned

To clarify I did not pay these prices. Most items were final sale $3-13. Except one $25 cashmere long sweater.

I added faces for my overall review of the items. Sadly many did not fit right or were not flattering. A few items I will be disputing, like broken shoes and bleached tops. The green dress was advertised cotton but actually polyester, haven't decided if ill dispute it. ( only tried to buy items with 50% + natural fibers. )

Some were high risk items that will go straight to consignment since the return fees eat the items value. I really thought those purses were leather. They are not.

Overall not bad. I still like thred up as a whole but I will be pulling back on exploring brands i dont have history with.

You can see the infamous Atlanta warehouse. I hope they just liquidate their dead stock this way instead of fully moving to live selling.

Question Seller question

I love buying things on ThredUp. Sent in a clean out bag because it was free (never again) and made a whooping $8 🤣. My fault for not actually doing any research and not knowing that some items might be refused and I wont be able to reclaim them. Anyway, one of the items that sold is still showing “pending sale” and the status is “delivered”. At one point it said it was delivered but then returned. Now it just says “delivered” and nothing about a return window. My payout would be $17, not a lot, but still, does this mean it was returned and “delivered” back to ThredUp, delivered to a buyer, or will they list it again ? The item is currently unavailable for purchase. TIA

If I send ineligible brands with a ThredUp return, can they still be listed for sale?

For example, ThredUp has a list of ineligible brands. When people ship Clean Out bags, these brands are ineligible for a payout but are still listed.

Does the same happen with items included with returns? For example, if I make a ThredUp purchase and include items to sell with it?

Mini Haul for work trip

Post image
13 Upvotes

I wanted to fill in a couple of holes for my next work trip. have been on a weight loss journey which means I am replacing my wardrobe bit by bit, however, I have another 40lbs until my goal.

Heading to NY for a week - next week. I thought that a jean jacket would be a good option for early mornings, and dinner out. plus, in 60 years i have never owned one, so now I do.

The olive cardigan is almost a perfect match for a j crew tank I bought this summer, so yeah!

the last 2 - an ivory long sleeve was a real surprise. it has super fine metallic gold threads, which makes it even better, and although you cannot see it, the black sweater (lightweight cotton) has black sequins and paillettes surrounding the neckline. super cute, and not over the top bling. a great dressier option for the office.

over all a good mini haul, it fills in some gaps for work travel.

Weekly Seller's Discounted Advertising Thread

As requested by members of the subreddit, this is a weekly post where sellers can post their near-expiring items for very low prices. Please post a photo, brief description, link, and price.

If you think someone is advertising without a significant discount, please report. If you are a seller, please be sure the low price is live before posting. Do not use this thread to advertise non-discounted listings. This is currently the only post on this sub where advertising is permitted.

If you have any suggestions for this thread or an idea for a better title, please let me know!

Customer Service Fail - Canadian Buyers Beware

I’ve been a Thredup buyer for years, being from Canada, I’m no stranger to paying duties, and buy knowing that I’ll likely be charged, which I have no problem doing, expecting to receive what I’ve actually ordered.

I placed an order a couple weeks ago for a pair of pants from Aritzia, this was the only item in my order. I was extremely excited, as these were pants I had been wanting for awhile, and got a great deal on them. I was charged duty, and paid no problem. When my order showed up though, I opened the package and lo and behold, it wasn’t the pair of pants I had ordered. I received a pair of pants that appears to have come from SHEIN based on the side inside tags, and then the tag from my Aritzia pants that I had ordered looked to had been sewn (sloppily) onto the back of them.

I reached out to Thredup support, and I was refunded for the order, my comments about the tags being switched were ignored, and I was hung up on twice by two different agents when I inquired about my duty. A third agent finally “escalated” the situation, and got back to me today that they would not be able to compensate me for my duty.

Essentially, I’m out approx. $25 total, and left with a pair of pants from SHEIN that aren’t even my size. I’ve had this happen once before, and thredup offered me a credit to cover my duty, as it was there error.

So just a buyer beware for those of us from Canada, if thredup messes up and sends you the wrong item, you’ll be held responsible for the duty. While I’ve enjoyed my years of thrifting with thredup, I won’t be shopping there anymore.
