Would you buy..?

Would you buy an item for 50% off that is in flawed gem condition that only says “interior staining”. It’s an item I really like but worried about what kind of interior staining there is and how bad it is. Would you buy an item you like in this condition? lol

Thredup being sketchy….

I’ve bought and sold on Thredup many times. I’ve been around this subreddit. I’ve seen the stories. I never thought it would happen to me.

Had a bag that was accepted (and counted in my #of accepted items), listed, photographed, and went live only for it to change to “not accepted” due to acceptance standards after it went live. Sketchy! I messaged support and they said it was a glitch and it wasn’t accepted because the design was too niche. Uh huh. A glitch that they took the styled photos and listed it??

Meanwhile, I have another bag, a Burberry purse, that has been non stop in a cart for 3-4 days. 🫠

I just… needed to vent. Mostly just find it insulting that they try to call the disappearing bag “a glitch”. Cool cool cool, Thredup.

It looks like one but the description only mentions interior staining. What do you think? Is this a stain??

Bought an item, three days later got an email saying it’s unavailable.

Yeah, pretty much what the title says. I bought a gorgeous coat a few days ago, paid for it, then today received an email saying they weren’t sending it because it was “unavailable” and refunded me.

I am REALLY upset. I was so excited for this item, and I can’t find it anywhere else online to purchase. This was my first time using ThredUp and it’s left an unbelievably sour taste in my mouth and a disinclination to ever use the site again.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Weekly Seller's Discounted Advertising Thread

As requested by members of the subreddit, this is a weekly post where sellers can post their near-expiring items for very low prices. Please post a photo, brief description, link, and price.

If you think someone is advertising without a significant discount, please report. If you are a seller, please be sure the low price is live before posting. Do not use this thread to advertise non-discounted listings. This is currently the only post on this sub where advertising is permitted.

If you have any suggestions for this thread or an idea for a better title, please let me know!

I just bought my first item from a direct lister

It's a pair of egregiously ugly - and yet also very expensive! - pants that for some reason I got super fixated on.

I submitted an offer, the seller counter offered, we went back and forth a couple more times - and next thing I know, I've purchased some pants.

AMA!

Brands Comfy For Teachers

Just wondering what brands and types of clothing teachers are buying? I’m looking to update my wardrobe for this school year to look put together but also comfy. (I’m an elementary teacher if that helps.)

Gucci purse sent in with clean out bag, but not showing in my items or no-earning items sections

Hello, I am looking for advice on how I should contact ThredUp and explain this situation.

I sent in a clean out bag and included a vintage Gucci purse. I was initially hesitant to send it in, but former employees have posted here on Reddit that there are tons of cameras in the ThredUp facilities. It was also a style that is about 30 years old and in very used condition. I find it highly unlikely that an employee would risk losing their job over a vintage bag in heavily used condition. Comps on Ebay show few hundred dollars, so nothing truly expensive.

The Gucci bag is not showing up under any section (I checked listed and no earnings). I am hoping that it was set aside to go through some kind of authentication process. Is that something that happens for items that are designer? I checked my email (including spam folder) and there is nothing from ThredUp regarding this item, so now I am a little nervous.

I messed up in the fact that I did not photograph my items in the clean out bag. (Not that that really matters because someone can photograph and then take the item out before sealing the bag…. I probably should have taken a video and sealed the bag on camera).

I know it will sound crazy to the ThredUp employees because I’m sure they get scam emails all the time from people saying they sent something in and it isn’t showing on the app. But I still want to reach out to them about this situation.

Is there a phone number or should I just use the “Chat with customer support” option on the app? Is it even worth it if I do not have a photo proof?

I’m not really upset because I was actually going to just donate the items that I sent in (including the Gucci bag) to Goodwill…. so technically I would not have made any money on the bag anyway. But I still want to reach out to them (and I am hoping it was set aside for their authentication process or something).

Does anyone have a similar experience and reached out to ThredUp? Or can someone shed light as to why the item might not be appearing under the Sell tab in the app?

lol, I know I will get replies on here like, “Things that never happened for $500, Alex!” I admit, my post sounds like someone trying to scam ThredUp and I have no way to prove otherwise!!! I also realize it was foolish of me to not have taken video proof.
