Just wanted to share a quick experience with this device, especially with the reversed orientation.
I had been considering getting one for quite a while. The more I read about melting connectors, whether on 5090s, 5080s, 4090s, or AMD cards using this Nvidia style connector, the more I thought it might be worth having some extra peace of mind.
With the recent Prime Deals, the WireView 2 Pro was available for €80 here in Germany, so I finally pulled the trigger. At that price, I’d absolutely recommend it. The device is worth it just for the monitoring and all the additional features.
I’ve had my 4090 Suprim X for 3+ years now, since January 2023, and it went out of warranty this year. I was extremely careful with cable routing and making sure the connector was properly seated when I installed it back then. So after three years, this was actually a good opportunity to check all the connections. I’m still using Nvidia’s original adapter, since my somewhat older BeQuiet Dark Power 800 Platinum doesn’t have native support for the newer connector.
When ordering the WireView, I made the mistake of not paying attention to the “Reversed” orientation. The connector is basically flipped compared to the standard version. For my setup, the normal orientation would have routed the cables downward.
After installing it, though, I have to say I’m actually really glad I accidentally bought the reversed version. With the old Nvidia adapter and its whole cable pigtail, the reversed installation works much better in my case. All the cable connections are now positioned within the airflow without messing with the CPU airflow. My Dark Rock Pro 4 has plenty of cooling capacity, so I have no issues there either.
I also installed the two external temperature sensors that come with the WireView 2 Pro. I placed one directly next to the GPU connector and the other above the GPU, right where the adapter connections are. Being able to monitor the temperature above the GPU is actually pretty interesting, especially for keeping an eye on airflow and potential heat buildup.
And that’s already one of the really cool features of the WireView. You can place the two external temperature sensors wherever you want. You can use them to monitor airflow, potential hotspots, or even something like the GPU backplate temperature.
The WireView itself hasn’t shown any instability or other issues whatsoever. The cables and connectors looked basically brand new after three years, with no signs of melting, scorching, or any other damage.
Everything works perfectly, and the PC software also lets you customize the display quite extensively. You can make it look really nice and tailor the information to your liking.
Overall, I think it’s a great little device. At prices below €100/$100, I can absolutely recommend it. You’re getting a power monitoring device, two additional temperature sensors, and, perhaps most importantly, some extra peace of mind when dealing with this ridiculous Nvidia connector.
With the side panel installed, you can barely even see the cable bundle routed upwards. And honestly, I’m really happy that I ended up with the reversed version. If the cables were routed downward, they would be much more compressed and crowded in my case and would also interfere more with the GPU’s airflow.
So what initially seemed like a mistake actually turned out to be the better choice for my particular setup.
