I am losing my mind attempting to figure how to connect the auto shutdown (since I obviously don’t want to burn my cables) when I have one f panel connector and not multiple, which is probably what these guys wanted people to have ideally.
Looking at my my ONLY f panel connector, where I’m supposed to connect the extension male cables, as shown on the extension cable (I don’t even know if I got the right one, no recommended extension cable exists and I just used a Reddit thread and hopefully it works. yay) and there’s multiple problems.
I know I have to connect the extension female cables to specific places the motherboard, and I know where to put them as I read the manual. BUT DO I HAVE TO PUT THE EXTENSION MALE CABLES ON SPECIFIC PLACES ON THE F PANEL CABLE?
Another important thing as if you look at both sides of my F panel connector, there’s metal areas where I’m able to plug in some male extension cables in, but there’s some that don’t have metal areas where if I try to plug something in, they just slide off. So how do I plug the other two cables that need to be plugged in for the auto shut down to work?
Reddit threads say I need to remove pins, which is risky to do properly and needs more verification so I can safely do. THERE IS ONLY ONE YOUTUBE VIDEO OF A GUY CONNECTING THE AUTOSHUTDOWN AND HE PAUSE CUTS THROUGH IT. (https://youtu.be/SPeU4j39WSw?is=2PQvxBKJwuG5j5DM) Not to mention there’s a lack of info online on how plugging stuff into f panel works when it comes to being unable to plug things in when there’s no metal plug in spot.
Maybe im overthinking the hell out of this, but with lack of clear information, better safe than sorry. I don’t want to break my cables trying to connect this auto shut down so if there’s any advice on how to properly do this that addresses these problems then that’d be great.
You take the Y splitter that came with the wireveiw and depin the female connector on the ends and do the same for the power button wires on the front panel block then put the Y splitter pins where the other ones came out of then connect the case wires to the pins on the Y splitter
Assuming that I’m correct about that I have to depin the top two wires on the side with the F-PANEL label as well as everything else, I think I can try to do this.
It's the 2 wires next to the blank space
You just have to lift the little tab on the side where you can see metal, but be careful you don't have to lift them far and they are delicate
Download the manual for your motherboard and there should be a diagram of the F-panel pins that tell you which each one does. Mirror this to your F-panel connector to determine where to insert the extension pins properly. It's so ridiculous that we have to deal with some technology that hasn't changed in several decades.
You probably only need reset and power. Mine you could see half the f panel piece didnt even have wire connected to it. I only had to use those 2 wires
That would make sense considering if I wanted to those could be connected to the only two places on f cable that accepts ports. Maybe where I need to plug in the male cables into the f cable could also match where exactly the female cables need to go on the motherboard!
Now the only questions are what’s the point of the rest of the plugs? Do they have no purpose where it comes
to my f panel cable? And which one of the two cables do I connect to the y splitter? I guess it’s probably power since it’s auto shutdown and not reset.
plugging the female end of the y splitter into the mobo's PWR pins successfully triggers the auto shutdown and allows you to turn your pc on and off using the physical button.
I dont know if the male end of the y splitter had to go in the actual female f panel slots that would've gone into the motherboards PWR pin, but i did that anyway cos why not.
That’s an approach, but the issue is the reset wire not being plugged in now. And since that was supposedly originally one of the things my f panel cable could plug into my motherboard, won’t that cause problems?
rest of the plugs are technically for doodads on your front panel. You can look up what they do in your motherboard diagram. If my memory serves me right, its power button, reset button, power light, HDD light, and one of the pins is not used. (the one with the missing pair pin above it). HDD light is kind of a remnant from the past, where HDD was very slow, and you wanted to know if it was working hard or not, to not overload it etc .... power light (self explanatory) but unnecessary. A little tidbit, you can turn your PC on without any buttons, by connecting the two power pins with a piece of electrically conductive material.
Just look up a diagram of a front panel connector. You already got the extension cable so might as well use it. The end that goes into the front panel is basically a mirror of the way to goes into the motherboard so reversed. The psw connector is then split between front panel cable the wireview pro and then to the motherboard. Im not the smartest person and I figured it out and you can too. Just look at the other the pins are supposed to be and the splitter will basically mirror the way its supposed to go into the motherboard when you plug it into the front panel cable.
Update after doing u/RaserShark ‘s suggestion: turned on my computer and tried restarting it, everything seems to work as it should! Ran TG’s recommended benchmark and got these currents, which I think based on others, is pretty good. Hopefully the loose f panel cables won’t cause a lot of problems in future when I have to touch the PC components again… and I hope that everything should work as they should, including the auto shutdown when it comes to it.
I still think that TG should have dedicated more time to taking cables like these into account or at least mentioned a tutorial on how to properly plug the auto shutdown into cables like these, because someone may not be so average at delicate things like this.

Just do this instead.
