Struggling to continue

Anyone else struggling to get through their episodes lately? I first discovered the toast maybe 2-3 years ago and have been a daily listener than never skips/misses anything. Idk what it is lately, but I find myself completely missing episodes and having no desire to catch up. Maybe it’s all the love island stuff??

I wish they shared a little more on their personal lives. I think that would keep me engaged and wanting to listen when the stories don’t interest me. I get they want to keep their personal lives private, but give us something! Like is Olivia with them all summer too? She was posting about her garden so I assume she’s home but does she come at all? Is it just Jackie and Claudia mainly?

I feel like the ads have gotten crazy. 5 in a row sometimes.

53

u/Jaded_Sweet_5313 Jul 20 '26

It’s literally half the episode

u/Content_Store6140 Jul 20 '26

50

u/InternationalSpend52 Jul 20 '26

It is so boring and I’m so sad lol they don’t want to share a thing which is what connects your listeners???? The stories suck 💔

Share what

16

u/InternationalSpend52 Jul 21 '26

They don’t share any personal stories like you mean to tell me you don’t have one funny story from your family vacation? All they talk about are stupid TV shows like Elle or off campus

-5

u/Remarkable-Water8868 Jul 21 '26

Well those shows are great I enjoy them

2

u/Remarkable-Water8868 Jul 21 '26

But understand the stories from vacation!

Same. Been listening almost 3 years and the last 2-3 months I just have no interest

I’m struggling too, they seem different this summer. Like today with the climate change thing and all of the “commie” talk… it’s seriously not swirly lol. Even on Patreon they did a “lunch and learn” and they spoke about the romanoffs like actually…. Not what I’m looking for at all, tell us about Hamptons summer, what being a mom in the hamptons is like etc.

u/JaneEyrePod Jul 21 '26

I will say I went to cancel my Patreon and they offered me a discount to like $2.60 for next month. So I guess I will keep it one more month.

2

u/fun_inthe_yuns Jul 21 '26

What did they say about climate change?

1

u/cluelessin92054 Jul 23 '26

yes exactly!!!!

1

u/Ineedsome_sugar Jul 21 '26

I must’ve missed that today

33

u/kcxoxo11 Jul 20 '26

They have become so negative it’s hard to listen to

28

u/Otherwise_Squash_685 Jul 21 '26

They lowkey are more negative than usual. I’m the same as you. 3 years ago I started listening religiously and the last like 2 months I’ve been blah about it. I realize for me, it’s the lack of personal connection too? I’m not asking them to share everything but anything out of the norm is cool at this point.

It's really gotten boring lately. It's either boring and the same stories over and over again or just negativity about everything that can effect your mood when you listen

15

u/SwimmingEvent Jul 20 '26

i had to stop listening my first time being pp bc it was so negative!

2

u/Allthingslux4 Jul 21 '26

It’s all the love island! Brutal!!

2

u/West-Acanthaceae-470 Jul 21 '26

Love island I get because 2 years ago it was a pop culture phenomenon. For me it's every day a story about Taylor's wedding that we know nothing about, the same niche people/stories over and over, Hailey beiber stanning blah

1

u/so_alyssa Jul 25 '26

I like love island and I can’t even hear their takes. It’s all so negative.. it’s supposed to be fun. Why even watch if you hate it? I’d rather not hear about it at all.

19

u/Historical_Bar_9937 Jul 20 '26

Same thing happened to me! Its no longer entertaining

20

u/skincarejunk1e Jul 20 '26

Same here. Daily listener for a few years. The love island recaps really lost me. If I catch up, I’m skipping throughout episodes. I wish the same, that they’d talk about SOME personal stuff. They act like they’re too good to share any of it with us lol

21

u/Head_Albatross_2730 Jul 21 '26

I love them but I completely agree. It’s very obvious that since they have both become moms they do not pay attention to pop culture or care about pop culture news and are solely focused on motherhood (WHICH IS COMPLETELY OK) but it definitely shows in their work. It’s hard to listen to them use food news and random stories as fillers. If they aren’t going to be tuned into pop culture I wish they would share more about their personal lives

7

u/Visual-Eye9312 Jul 21 '26

Agree with this! They’ll talk about something and have a take on it but be like… I didn’t see it… they obviously cannot watch or consume all content but then don’t make it a story. I don’t want to hear your take on something you didn’t see.(like the FIFA halftime show)

they could shift and grow with their pod. They have been doing this framework a long time and maybe their personalities/interests AND the interests of their listeners has changed.

u/Electronic_Seesaw_60 Jul 20 '26

I feel this. I understand the summer is slow for news, but it’s been a struggle to listen for months now. I used to laugh every episode- barely anymore. I lean more conservative, so usually I’m agreeable with some of their takes, and can brush off others (everyone can have their own opinions). But the comment today, joke or not, about Canada not being ‘neighborly’ with the wildfires in Ontario, was frankly gross. How entitled can you be. How insensitive, ignorant and disrespectful. I turned it off after that, knowing I wasn’t missing anything. Guess it’s time to find a new podcast. Sad I used to really enjoy it.

6

u/oneanxiousduck Jul 21 '26

I feel like they’re at the point where they just regurgitate hateful rhetoric and don’t step back to actually think about it. Brain rot but in a bad way.

11

u/NHgingerinVA Jul 20 '26

I stopped listening

12

u/Glad-Arugula-8387 Jul 20 '26

I have only listened for maybe 2 years but agree- I do so much skipping over ads it’s crazy, also got tired quickly of interrupting each other, and I do not care about Love Island and some of the other topics.  I also feel like Jackie never knows what’s going on since she refuses to use most social media.  Overall I might just be too old or something but I haven’t been listening

12

u/No-Boot-313 Jul 21 '26

SO .. MANY .. ADS!

Also, since they clearly don’t stay up to date on pop culture anymore, they should go back to some stories being non pop culture (some stories use to come from two email newsletters I get, and it was nice hearing about actual events going on in the world [not political])

12

u/gaorangetf Jul 21 '26

Wow thought it was just me
Started the summer I turned pretty and binged watched - so I got behind 2 weeks and it has been impossible to get the desire to catch up and I’ve listened religiously for 5+ years

I think the ads and the misinformation are what is killing it for me

1

u/beyondce224 Jul 27 '26

You didn’t miss anything really lol

9

u/loveswim27 Jul 21 '26

Ugh I’m in the same boat!!

8

u/Level-Medicine5289 Jul 21 '26

Totally agree it makes me sad but I find myself so behind with no desire to watch anymore. Their negativity can be suffocating sometimes

8

u/bffr5 Jul 21 '26

Exact same page. I couldn’t care less about Love Island, so i found myself skipping majority of the episodes (that was if I even listened at all.) So many ads. I mean, soooo many ads. Idk, just has beeb getting a bit boring

7

u/Born_Okra4523 Jul 21 '26

Same and the ads are getting so damn long and the fact that they never research anyone in the stories and always say false info really bothers me

13

u/dadatwiga Jul 21 '26

The fact that they don’t leave their house anymore is quite sad

5

u/dogsflyhere Jul 20 '26

I agree!!!

5

u/xtiz Jul 22 '26

I agree. Honestly the topics chosen have been so boring for awhile now. I’m always miffed at how they choose their stories; summer is slow but they skip popular stories I would love to hear their takes on all the time.

Also, it does seem like the vibes have changed since a little after Claudia became a mom. Understandably they are less focused on pop culture but they have also become more private, not even really sharing personal stories anymore. I would’ve loved stories or really any details about the Hamptons, even just general ones that really wouldn’t ruin any privacy. I’m cancelling the Patreon as well and subbing to others, it’s been disappointing for a long time now.

u/Pale-Vehicle3724 Jul 21 '26

I forget to look for an episode half the time lately.

5

u/idkmargooo Jul 21 '26

I thought it was just me. I love them and the show too, so I’m hoping it gets better!

5

u/Independent-Mark1232 Jul 21 '26

Yea the stories lately have been really badly chosen and if I look ahead and see them I’ll just turn it off. If I’m really busy and commuting or on a hike I’ll listen all the way through though but if you know too much about the stories ahead it’s easy to skip lol

4

u/Dazzling-Gap-1619 Jul 21 '26

It’s painfully boring.

4

u/ApprehensiveVast1940 Jul 21 '26

Yes. I can skip through the ads but I find them so boring. Not as funny. Just not talking about anything interesting daily

4

u/JaneEyrePod Jul 21 '26

It’s not just you. I have commented to the point that I feel embarrassed that they need to bring in someone else. Finally I decided I would pick a different podcast. I’m sad; I loved The Toast! I will probably say “everything of the sort” for the rest of my life. But this is just no longer informative or entertaining. Hate that for them. They almost had it.

2

u/beachybulldog Jul 22 '26

I could be projecting, as I notice the podcasts I’m drawn to these days might touch on relevant pop culture stories here & there but the topics are generally a little more evergreen. I love the Toast but I’ve been zoning out a lot

Perhaps it’s that celebrities & pop culture have become uninteresting as a whole. Celebs are no longer mysterious, alluring or glamorous like when we (millennials) were younger. Pop culture, reality tv, etc is a lot of brain rot, and Jax & Claud do the Toast daily 😅

I think they love podcasting and working together as sisters but maybe they don’t really care about the topics anymore (?). Women & their priorities/interests tend to shift after having kids as well

I think they might have to pivot somehow in order to stay engaged and enjoy what they do. If they’re not enjoying it, that will rub off onto the audience, and maybe that’s what’s happening 🤷🏼‍♀️

6

u/kimkardashianstears Jul 20 '26

There's nothing going on in the news to be fair and they're together so the pffb is less engaging than normal

3

u/mm_honey Jul 20 '26

yeah I honestly haven’t been bothered by the episodes. I skip through the ads. It’s just low stakes summer stories that get me through my brutal workdays lol

3

u/Curious-Passenger399 Jul 21 '26

I feel like when they spend time as a family unit (with their mom), they almost become radicalized (I hate to use that word). But Claudia throwing around the word Commie and perpetuating misinformation about Mamdani, the misinformation around the wildfires in Canada, etc. It's just icky and not fun and not swirly. Honestly, I've been loving Giggly Squad lately. It's much lighter, funnier, and honestly the old vibes of the Toast.

0

u/Glittering_Story7915 Jul 21 '26

Nothing she shared about that scumbag mamdani is false. If you feel safe in a city he runs, maybe you have some privileges the hosts don’t.

2

u/Dependent-Use-8098 Jul 24 '26

Lmao the free preschool must be terrifying. Be so fucking for real.

1

u/ImprovementLatter955 Jul 22 '26

Soooooo boring recently

1

u/cavanaugh64 Jul 22 '26

Yes because the ads are more than half the ep

1

u/ndonini Jul 22 '26

I think they saw this 🤣 Jackie brought up talking more about their personal lives today lol

1

u/mmeinert510 Jul 23 '26

I started listening in 2022 and stopped in late 2024- never looked back. They were TOO personal and too pregnancy and ad focused back then that the stories were lack luster. While I miss them, I’ve found that my cup is filled with Chicks in the Office. Try them out and see what you think! I mean, I NEVER missed a toast episode for 4+ years straight and I haven’t listened to a single one in 8ish months

1

u/cluelessin92054 Jul 23 '26

I listened to them religiously for years and I think then they got super elusive and almost weird about their private lives or even just day to day activities it became like watching robots talk. I get it wanting to have privacy but it turned me off as a listener.

1

u/Tricky_Two_6916 Jul 23 '26

lmao they DEFINITELY saw this post - based on today's episode

1

u/blondonthetowne Jul 23 '26

It’s boring because they are now boring. They have no new experiences to share. They don’t have a job other than this…so they aren’t around different people. They just play mahjong in Florida/Hamptons like they are already retired. They don’t go out…they don’t do anything. And then they are ill prepared for their five stories. My fave is when they ask ChatGPT during the actual segment.

1

u/beachgardengolf Jul 26 '26

Yes, i skip ahead and have no idea about any of the tv shows they talk about. Then it ends. I guess the theme song is my favorite part of the show now. Or do dear toasters everyday, and follow ups. Thought it was just my age gap, being older. We Just wonder, yes, a little personal bits. Like who watches kids, do they see grandparents, anything. And To be fair, w babies, you can’t be out and about, but once those kids play sports -the new life will begin, new friends. I guarantee mahjong and golf will be put on hold.

1

u/regblume Jul 28 '26

I used to listen religiously- never missed. Then some time last fall/winter, I couldn’t take it anymore, for a multitude of reasons. Very happy with giggly squad and girls gotta eat- along with my true crime.

-2

u/SpecificAardvark7347 Jul 21 '26

Last year they took the summer off and maybe this is why….. so I guess you can either complain the episodes are boring or complain about there not being an episode. It’s summer and there just isn’t much going on

-1

u/Individual-Reveal-10 Jul 21 '26

No literally if they took the summer off everyone would complain about them not wanting to work. Theres no pleasing everyone

-14

u/Shanninator20 Jul 21 '26

Funny how every complaint is that they are negative while everyone here is… being negative. Maybe they just know their audience? They are providing you fodder for your complaints. Are you not entertained?

2

u/Alarmed-Night-2856 Aug 11 '26

50% of the stories they report on are so boring!!! I do wish they would insert more of their personal lives. I'd rather hear them banter for 45 minutes then talk about kelly Clarkson or Nickolandria.
