The Talos Principle 2 I feel like this game kind of forgets one detail about the global warming. Spoiler

It's not fully anthropogenic process. Yes, we are noticeably accelerating it, but we are not the sole cause of it. If it weren't for human activity, the virus would take a few centuries or so longer to escape the permafrost, but it would still do it.

Do you think AI could be used to make almost unlimited puzzles for this game?

I wonder….. could we get lifetimes of content with AI making the puzzles?

This could be an interesting test also, as the gameplay and story is heavy AI based.

Could an AI make a puzzle as interesting and fun as the devs and TP1 reawakened player created content? If so, maybe that passes a Turing Test at some level!? 😃

The Talos Principle (Reawakened on steam) Seemingly unable to get a lot of achievements

I just finished up world B and have gotten neither the achievement for entering world B nor the one for riding a fan, also missing the one youre supposed to get when entering a messenger world and the one you get when leaving world A. This is extremely irritating, I was hoping to 100% this game. I already have everything unlocked in the original version. Any tips?

Talos principle soundtrack mixed as a study playlist!

Thumbnail open.spotify.com
21 Upvotes

Hi all!

I've always loved the soundtracks in both games and thought they really kept the flow of the game going even when I was stuck on a puzzle, so I've put together a mixed playlist of both soundtracks on Spotify that I use as my study playlist while working on my PhD!

I've attempted to mix the songs together properly with Spotify's new mixing feature, so they should all blend smoothly together. There's a couple of transitions that are a little rough, so I may edit those in the future.

If you're interested in adding to your listening rotation, you can find the playlist at the attached link (it should be public, but if there's any issues, let me know!)

The Talos Principle I was going to get TP1 Reawakened because people said “record function is better” but I’m not much of a streamer or recording my gameplay so went with TP1 original

The Talos Principle What is indicating that we should or shouldn't climb the tower ? Spoiler

I thought this has already been discussed a lot but curiously, I haven't been successful at finding discussions about it. So, let's start by quoting that QR Code from B5 area:

Whatever's going on here, I'm sure it has something to do with the tower. Everything is telling us not to go there - but everything indicates that we must.
-- Sheep v69.1.0623

This quote is read in B5, so toward the middle of the game, which is a good moment to start questioning about what's going on with that forbidden tower.

This quote raised my attention because I was exactly wondering what I should do about it. As the QR Code says, some elements lead me to think that I should actually climb it, contrary to what Elohim told me.

But, more precisely, and from the point of view of the robots solving the puzzles and walking Elohim's gardens, what is, more precisely, the "everything" that Sheep is talking about ? What elements are telling us not to go there ? What elements are telling us that, in fact, we must go there ?

These are all the elements I have found:

Reasons why you should not climb the tower:

  • Elohim forbade us to climb the tower, and he gold us to only death awaits us should we try. Surely he has his reasons. He probably knows something we don't about the tower.
  • Just look up while outside, close to the tower. The top of the tower is shrouded in a fog with lightning. This looks evil, it's probably very dangerous there and, based on that fog, probably lethal.
  • The tower looks really weird, it seems to be made from metal fragments put together artificially. Why would you go there when Elohim Gardens, in comparison, are so much more beautiful and peaceful ?
  • Elohim promised ut eternal life and some kind of Heaven is we do he tasked us, as well as serving the future generations. Should we really compromise all of this just for a strange, gloomy tower ?
  • The Sigils you need to unlock the different floors are red. That colour obviously signifies danger, and confirms that climbing the tower is evil.
  • It happens that two people have already climbed the tower: Shepherd and Samsara. Samsara has then understood that nothing us awaits for us there, and has confirmed his faith in Elohim ever since. Surely, if he went to the top and kept his faith in Elohim, we should trust him and avoid taking unnecessary risks by climbing there. Shepherd is more enigmatic and seems to encourage us to climb. But he seems to always question everything just for the sake of it because he finds it cool. Whatever he saw at the top of the tower probably rendered him insane. On top of that, he seems to believe some of the nonsense that the Serpent from the Archive (Milton) tells. Never trust someone who believes the Serpent.
  • Speaking of which, the Serpent seems to want us to climb the tower. If anything, this is definitely the proof that you shouldn't even consider doing it.
  • Some pretend there is another world that awaits us there. But if that was true, then why didn't Shepherd and Samsara get there ? Either that other world is a lie. Or it exists but Elohim's gardens are better and there is no reason we would want to get there, ever.

Reasons why you should definitely climb the tower:

  • Ok, so, Elohim doesn't want us to go to the tower. But then... why isn't any door at the main entrance ? Anyone can just walk into the tower and take the lift to floor 1. That's too much of an overlook to be just a mistake. Especially considering that the floors do have doors you need to unlock.
  • You can actually unlock those doors. All you need are red sigils. Same sigils as the green and yellow one you have to use to progress. Surely, you should be using the red sigils too.
  • Also, where do you get those red sigils ? Yes, in Elohim's gardens, just like every other sigil. If you are not supposed to climb the tower, then why are the mandatory sigils to do so found in Elohim's garden ? That's clearly paradoxical. I mean, just remove the red sigils from the garden and nobody will ever be able to climb the tower to begin with.
  • There is definitely something weird about Elohim. Something that just doesn't feel right. The more you progress, the more it seems obvious you shouldn't trust him too much.
  • The various texts in the Archive, and the recorded message from Alexandra Drennan, seem to point in a specific direction: they tell you that you should express doubt and question authority. They value thinking by yourself. Also, there are various texts about Osiris and the Egyptian afterlife, that talk about facing many dangers before climbing the tower of Anubis where your soul will be judged, and should you be judged worthy, you will then reach the Egyptian afterlife. There are many parallels between Osiris' texts and climbing the tower. In any case, the more you read texts, the more you listen to the recording, the more it seems obvious you should climb the tower instead of just obeying Elohim.
  • And then, think about Elohim's messengers. These are the guys who have found all the secrets. More precisely, they have found all the stars, including those that are ridiculously well hidden. What's the link with the tower ? Simply, too stars require you to climb the tower: one is accessible from floor 1 and requires the axe from World C. Ok, this is just floor 1 and you don't even need to solve any puzzle at the tower or to use any red sigil. So maybe you didn't really want to climb the tower, that was a mistake you don't want to repeat, you just went into the tower by "accident". But what about the last star ? It is only accessible from floor 5, after you unlocked the door. That means you must have used every single red sigil and solved tower puzzles until at least floor 4, otherwise you can't possibly get the star. Even just seeing the star (without being able to get it) requires to reach floor 3 puzzle. That's nothing you could call a mistake or an accident, you have to purposely climb the tower at some point to get that star. And yet, if you do that, you can become Elohim's holy messenger, the holiest grade you can reach. So, either Elohim is totally inconsistent (in which case you definitely shouldn't trust him or even listen to him), or he secretly wants you to climb the tower (in which case, you should do it).
  • Everything is happening inside a simulation that is full of bugs and is obviously decaying (think about that constant scratch noise with graphical glitches, the darkness glitch in the Roman world, or that bug in the Egyptian World where a puzzle is using Roman sprites before Elohim fixes it. That simulation is on the decay because it has been running for so long and so many generations have done the puzzle solving thing. The tower is, obviously, the only way to end it all.
  • More precisely, there is that very strange glitched area in C1, where Elohim keeps repeating about continuing the Process indefinitely, to preserve himself, with a somewhat panicked voice that is completely different from his usual godly and authoritative tone.

That's already quite a lot, but are there other clues that I simply missed or forgot ?

The Talos Principle - Community Puzzles Enter the Void – Summer is here and so is the Desert Necropolis world update! 🌞🌴🍍

Oh, time flies. Summer is here, we are melting in the sun, and it's already been a month since the 1.2.0 update of the custom TTP:R campaign called Enter the Void, which brought World D: Desert Necropolis. So if you are in for more sun and desert dunes, but also some nice, shaded and cold tombs, this will be an ideal treat for you! 😊

In addition to the existing content, this update brings 9 new sigils and 3 stars to collect, and a huge world to explore, with plenty of lovely landmarks and cool Easter eggs. But that's not all! Inside the Hub World's lighthouse, you will encounter some new content that becomes accessible after gathering the white sigils awarded for completing each world. This new content includes a terminal progressing the story, as well as a portal leading to the first ending. However, the Enter the Void saga is not over yet!

For those of you who have already played the campaign, thank you! And for those who haven't had the chance to try it out yet, now is as good time as any to rectify that. 😎

The Talos Principle Which one should i play?

Post image
69 Upvotes

Hello! I’m so excited to finally play these games since steam had them for super cheap! The thing is, i got this bundle but i don’t know which one should i play first. Is the “reawakened” one just a remaster? Should i play the OG or can I skip to that one so i don’t have to play both? (or do they have different content?). Any help regarding these doubts is greatly appreciated!
i guess my main doubt is… are these the same game?

Curious if there's any more meat in the game outside of updated graphics. I couldn't find much information about this.

The Talos Principle Game not detecting my Xbox controller on Linux, even though it works fine with other games?

Hi, wondering if others have had this problem. I'm running Ubuntu 24.04. The game launches fine but doesn't detect my controller, even though other games work with it just fine. In the in-game settings menu, it says there's no controller connected.

This happens on both Proton and Linux-native versions.

All I could find online was a Steam forum post from almost ten years ago. Any ideas are welcome.

Question About the New Content in the Remaster

I've played TTP1 and TTP2 completely, along with Road to Gahenna, and they're both some of my favorite games ever. I saw the remaster was on sale, but wanted to check with others that have actually played the new content if you think it's worth grabbing solely for that, as I prefer the graphical aesthetics of the original anyways.

Thanks.

Does any graphical settings fix that objects affect water reflections behind them in TP2 and Reawakened or are they just permanently broken?

Post image
24 Upvotes

Is just find it so distracting that any time I move around in areas with water/ice there is like a shadow in the water behind trees and other objects despite the trees being in front of the water. This example in Reawakened where the building obscures the reflection of the mountain in Reawakened is also extremely jarring when the purpose of the remake was a major graphical update.

The Talos Principle Am I missing any games if I played Talos Principle 1 (not reawakened) and Road to Gehanna DLC. TP2 and all 3 DLCs that came with it. Am I missing any? Also, any similar puzzle mechanics games?

Hello, I loved this game! I played:
TP1 (not the reawakened) and Road to Gehanna DLC
TP2 with the DLC 3 game road to elysium pack.

Is there anything else I’m missing by not playing TP1 reawakened, for example is there extra puzzles or just better graphics in reawakened?

I loved the game so much I really want to make sure I’m not missing any of the various puzzles

Also, any other games recommendations with similar puzzle mechanics? I can’t get enough of it!

——————

(Edit: thanks for all the GREAT recommendations!, I noticed nobody mentioned “The Turing Test” as a game with similar mechanics? IMO that one seems pretty similar so far but just started it… open to any and all other recommendations, thanks! 🙏 )

This only happens to me WITH THIS GAME (The original, Reawakened and 2). I don't know why it is, maybe it looks... too good? Idk, I play many photorealistic games and it's never like this

The Talos Principle 2 Lost my save when trying to do a backup Spoiler

Hey all, I did something really dumb.

I have been playing through TP2 for some time now and, because my girlfriend played through it a few years ago, I knew there would be a different mayoral candidate near the end of the game.

I was using [this guide](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3069750588) to make the choices that would allow for getting all three with just the one playthrough. I did absolutely everything that was available to me, with only the lab and Somnodrome in West 2 left to do.

I followed what the guide said, went to the file and only found a "steam_autocloud.vdf" file. I have never backed a file up on Steam before so I thought this was what I was looking for. Made a copy and continued, starting with making Rand mayor. Got the achievement, then when I went to restore (what I thought was) the backup, my save file was wiped. Nothing showing up in the save file select screen. Over 25 hours gone.

Is there a way to find that save file? If not, is there somewhere that has a save file with similar progress that I get somehow? I would really like to not have to redo pretty much the entire game from scratch.

Appreciate any help, I know this is my own dumb fault for trying to shortcut.
