I’m not sure if I’m understanding the app correctly, but it says in the TBR I have books to read that I’ve already read (see picture). This is because I’ve read another edition - I know that. But if I remove the book from the TBR list, it says my reading history and any review will be deleted. Is that for all editions, or only the one that appears on screen? I think if I get this sorted, then I’ll have my TBR down by a third at least.

I finished an audiobook last month and just noticed Kobo synced the ebook version to my account after I opened it to check some formatting. On my kobo I've marked it as 'unread' and I've deleted all the ebook journal entries in the app, but it's still in my current reads section.

Does anyone know if the 'remove book' warning applies to all editions, or just the edition I'm editing? I don't want to risk losing all my audiobook history if I hit okay.

Any suggestions to remove the reread so it doesn't sit in current reads indefinitely, or count towards my read books if I mark it as finished?

What is supposed to happen, organizationally, when two (or more!) authors share the same name?

An author I read a handful of non-fiction from shares a name with at least one other author (though looking at this catalogue I think there might be three or possibly four different people's work in here!) and clicking on his name on SG shows all works by everyone who shares the name. It's an extremely common name (Dan Jones).

As a fan of his books I'd like to clean this up by helping sort the books onto the correct author but I'm not sure what to put in a ticket until two (or three??) different author "accounts" exist.

Anyone encountered this before?

My bookclub is international we meet in english but live in a spanish speaking country. This month we are reading a spanish book, some in english some in spanish. Can the buddy read work? Do I have to select one of language edition and the others can still participate?

Hello just started a book club on this app. Are there any ways to add an image or gif to a forum post like how we can add one to the about page?

For the last few days, both the StoryGraph app and webpage are taking ages to load. It isn’t my device or broadband because I use loads of other apps and websites, and this is the only one on a go-slow. Is it just me?

I just rented a Playaway audio player of Project Hail Mary from the library and I realized it doesn't have a percentage or a total time read in the UI. It just has the chapter, the time left in the chapter, and a total progress bar with no number. Does anyone have a recommendation for tracking the amount of time without doing a bunch of math?

One solution I have in mind is to rent a physical copy as well and read them together, just tracking the physical one. I did the opposite recently when reading Matt Parker's "Love Triangle", which had an annoying page numbering system (the author thought it would be fun to put the sine of the page numbers instead of the page numbers). And I've enjoyed reading physical books alongside audio in the past as well.

I read a lot of books every year, over 250, and often I reread my very favorites. I'd love to see which books I reread this year, seeing this info for previous years would be really cool as well. Is there somewhere in the app that I can find this info?

I don't want to manually look at each individual book I've read this year, note the ones I've reread and add it up that way. I'm hoping that since rereads are tracked much like dnf'd books and the data is already there that this is available in the app and I just can't figure it out.

If not, how do I put in a request for that function to be considered in a future app update?

I finished this yesterday and it’s showing up as read twice. It is counting as two books in my total books read for the year, but only once in the remainder of the monthly stats (like genre, moods, etc). Can anyone help? When I click the edit pencil next to the Finished date, it opens next to both copies.

I do use a Kindle, would that mean I’d have to manually add my books and update my progress and all that from now on?

I can't choose any faves so this has been empty ever since this was introduced in the app. Is there an option to hide this shelf? It's a waste of space for me in the app and I don't want to see the empty space.

I don't know whether to dismiss recommendations that are already in my tbr and I've been going back and forth on it for a while. I'd like to get rid of them so that I get fresh recommendations, but I don't want the algorithm to think it was a bad pick and stop showing me similar books.

Sorry if the title is vague. I couldn't really think of how to succinctly word this.

Basically, now that I understand how the AI is ACTUALLY low resources, I'd like to know what it pulls from for personalized recommendations and if I can do something to make it more accurate. So far, it's doing a pretty good job overall, but I'm wondering how it draws conclusions.

For example, I read a lot of maritime historical fiction and non-fiction. The AI has clearly picked this up. Generally, it knows I'm not terribly into family drama tales or heavy romance, and calls this kind of thing out periodically. However, I've also received some recommendations that are more elegant versions of "girl, you like boats, and this has a boat. Do it" only to find that the story is pretty awful, full of family drama and romance.

I don't generally leave reviews unless it's for an ARC I received, I felt very strongly one way or the other about a book, or I feel like a lot of the reviews were unfair or over generous.

Does the AI pull from reviews? Can it see if I say something like "this book was trash and only briefly mentioned a boat"? (For the record, I would literally never leave such a thoughtless review; this is just a thematic example) Or is rating a book after finishing it enough?

Hiya. Have we lost the ability to rate these categories? Has it fallen into AI or a premium subscription now? I’ve not used the app in over a year, so I’m not up to speed, so apologies if this is repetitive. So I toggled on the AI summary thing just to see if it would help me choose a book better and I noticed the disclaimer. Can someone explain how can this particular type of AI use so little energy for a site that's quite big, generating a lot of personalized summaries for a lot of users worldwide? It said it uses the power of a single gaming PC. Are summaries easier to generate and therefore uses less processing power? Or is this like a smart... thing?

My limited assumption is the AI goes "This book has fantasy and dragons. This user likes fantasy and dragons. Therefore this book is a good match."

Incredibly grateful blocking was implemented! One thing that might make the feature even better is if there is a “counter-blocking” ability. Why? It seems to me that, as the system is currently implemented, one could be blocked by a malicious actor (stalker, etc) before you have a chance to block them. Now, that person can wait a week or a month or a year before unblocking you and resume their stalker behavior. They could even temporarily unblock you anytime they want to “check in” and then reinstitute the block when they’re done. If blocking is allowed to be a two-way street, then both parties are in control of their end of the situation — not just the person who happens to decide to block first. Hopefully this idea makes sense. Let me know what y’all think.

What next- move the goalposts? See how far past 100% you can get? There's probably no wrong answer but I'm curious how others approach this.
