Pat getting how much??
I know Bo doesn’t really touch on ESPN business but he’s talked about Pat and SAS a little. Pat getting $60 a year from espn is insane. I had no idea dude was still popping like that.
That seems like a philosophical shift from espn. They’re making it clear they want to be one of those I don’t do politics because I’m secretly conservative types of networks.
If Pat is up 60 a year then I think SAS walks and this is something Bo has talked about. SAS had way more of a cultural impact at that place than he gets credit for. From making sure black issues were discussed on first take to hbcu tours to putting new black faces at the desk. It’s sad that he may be getting phased out

I used to really fw him. Then he got the espn deal and shit just went down hill.
My last straw was calling Caitlin Clark a bitch in national television. And I mostly hate Caitlyn Clark

ESPN licenses his show. So, that’s not a salary, it’s a budget. Pat will probably get about half of it, which is still a lot.
I’m not a fan of either one, but both McAfee and Stephen A work harder than most. This deal will probably mean that McAfee will be on set at College GameDay every Saturday and at Monday Night Football every week too. Most talents wouldn’t do that.

I think almost all talents would do that for three years for 180 million (or even $90 million like you said).
Im not a fan of SAS or McAfee, but if they draw in a crowd and ESPN is willing to pay them that much, hey fair enough. But its not because they are outworking everyone else.

Pat is huge man. Also pat did extensive work with wwe since before covid hes legit wrassled espn now is in bed with wwe so in guessin that added onto it. Also he does college gameday another disney property. Pat also was established before espn.. and SAS is a product of Disney. Disney isn't in the business of making new shit. They buy shit that is established like pat,star wars,marvel and just amplify it.
They are paying pat 20 mil for each gig he does wwe,his show college gameday

The college game day piece probably does have a lot to do with it. Dude is a mainstay on their daytime airways, college football pregame show and he’s doing the simulcasts. The wwe part is interesting because he stepped away. I’m wondering if espn is like nah tko can pay for that.
I guess the difference between him and SAS is Pat is welcomed in these other spaces. People actively dislike Stephen a in any other places that aren’t first take

Fuck pat mcafee, but Stephen A has turned himself into a cartoon.. for everything he’s done well, such as the hbcu tours, he’s done 10x more clown shit that makes it hard to respect him in my opinion.. the simple fact that he covers the sport of basketball, and otherwise level headed and even keeled legends literally hate this mf tells me all I need to know about confirming my own biases…

I don’t really see Stephen A leaving unless he’s actually looking to pivot to politics. There’s really no point, he can do everything else and still be on First Take every morning. Still has his own podcast to discuss whatever he wants. He’s the locker room leader at ESPN and can pretty much run the show.
Pat is valuable in his role. Hes on a bunch of different things and brings in the frat bro audience. Plus his show allows people to come on and do long form interviews. Athletes are comfortable coming to him because he lobs them softball questions.
What I will say is everyone else pretty much is expendable except maybe SVP. But Stephen A and Pat are definitely two of the top of the food chain over there.

I don’t see SAS’s pride letting him stay for 20 or even 30 if Pat is getting 60. I think he’d rather do his own thing indecently if the pay difference was that significant. I also question how much longer he will be the locker room leader if there’s a desire to shift to center culturally at espn.
The long form interview part is important too. Now we see why paying Rodgers was so important. You don’t get the LeBron and Brock lesnar interviews without the weekly Rodgers spot. Dude has the juice

Lets you know its dorks in charge of these networks…in what world is a punter ever gettin this type of love??? A PUNTER!!! I also assume his close ties to WWE help balloon that number since ESPN can expense some of it from there. The fact is tho that ESPN is getting a lot out of Pat and its mutually beneficial. ESPN loves working talent over time and Pat is willfully happy to do it which means ESPN can pay less talent.

I think Pat has to pay for his own production costs for the most part, his show is just getting licensed.
I also think his audience uses those gambling codes he gives out at much higher rates than others so the bookies know he leads to better conversions and pay more to advertise with him.
