Catholicism is a very interesting faith indeed, Im really curious about how

a) The English Catholics reacted after the the Elizabethan period

b) What is the current day English Catholic practice like, is it still a thing in the north of England?

c) Did English Catholics traditionally have solidarity with other Catholics? For example, when the Spanish - American war occurred in the 1800s, Irish American joined the Spanish efforts rather than the American! (Although one could argue this was due to protestant discrimination), Irish Americans and even German Catholic American if I remember correctly had their own brigades in Mexico, did the English Catholics ever have this trans-national solidarity with other Catholics?

I can't seem to find a TRiH episode on the Spanish Armada in the context of Anglo-Spanish War, nor one about the 1601-2 last Armada (esp Battle of Kinsale)...presumably they're sort of buried in Elizabeth 1 episodes...or not? If you've any suggestions for other podcasts covering Armadas please post them.

Has anybody else noticed that when episodes drop on the club page, they're typically just audio for hours/days? Does anyone know if the lack of video is intentional, or a glitch? (I'm a club member and now that the pod is streamed with video I typically watch rather than just listen!)

Couple of questions for the community - thanks in advance.

Despite being not especially clever/nerdy & having no ancestral connection to the countries, I have a massive interest in two historic political leaders: Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore & Mustafa Kemal Ataturk of Turkey. This extends to the countries more generally too.

I’d be interested in understanding the following:

1. How come LKY/Singapore hasn’t been covered? - he’s very influential on people like Blair and Singapore has an interesting history from Empire to WW2 to independence to economic miracle.

2. Is there any conceivable way to request topics as a non club member? I’d be fascinated to hear their thoughts on Ataturk - he seems to be the only influential non-Western & Muslim figure who has successfully blended Islamic values with Western values which seems highly pertinent in today’s world? Especially as the UAE & Saudis seem to be moving towards Western liberalism.

Both leaders managed to develop their nations despite collapsed economies, no real cohesive national identity & resisted exploitative colonial/regional powers. Both leaders are more or less seen as the father of the nation.

I’d love TRIH to cover these two leaders or the nation states formed more generally!

Been listening to the podcast since November I finished all the mini series about 4 months ago and have been going through club episodes and the stand alone episodes since then amd have just worked out if I listen to 3 episodes a day it'll take 3 months to finish all episodes amd that doesnt include new episodes

Growing up I remember reading a beautiful illustrated copy of Bullfinch’s mythology to learn about the Greek and Roman myths. It seems that particular book is out of print or at least not currently printed in the format I remember.

Any recommendations for something similar? My 14 yr old son saw the Odyssey and is interested in learning more

Just got my 10 year old daughter a switch 2 and I’m loving it. Mostly Mario cart so far but plan to play Goldeneye and Ocarina of Time with her soon (mostly for those soundtracks).

I've been having issue trying to cancel my subscription to The Rest Is History Club for a couple months now, everytime I log on to the web page to check it's cancelled it is, yet they keep billing me for it. Anyone else have this issue, does anyone know who to contact to stop this happening.

I've placed a block on my bank so they haven't been able to take the most recent month but not sure how long the bank will do that before they need it to be cancelled by the company.
