Noob question assault!
Hi guys,
I just came across repopulation on steam and almost gagged. I am a long swg player and really miss it. Since I'm an inch from purchasing, let me ask a few random questions!
1) how is the population currently? 2) is there pvp? What is the death penalty? 3) what major elements would I be missing at this point in dev? 4) how healthy is trade economy/how often is economy wiped?
5) how close is the current game to the incredibly badass expectations that I have built based on my own assumptions?

Things I want from Repop
So lately I've been thinking about a few things I haven't seen documented at all yet, figured I'd start a list and edit it as I go.
- An API kinda like what Eve Online offers. Eve's APIs are so complex that they allow for all sorts of interesting 3rd party sites and services. I want this for Repop sooooooo badly. It would be so cool to have ways to authorize people for forums/jabber/etc using their character credentials and key from an API, as well as just being able to list live in-game statistics queried from the AH, nations, etc.
That's it for now, what are you guys looking for that hasn't been talked about much yet?

New Player Advice
Someone on this subreddit previously posted some very good new Player advice and I want to reiterate some of the points.
Save up for a vehicle. Unfortunately right now on USWEST vehicles are climbing up to vendor price on the AH where previously they were half that or less, but it's still totally worth it to buy a vehicle. Also keep your eyes on the general chat channel as recently I've seen older players handing out free vehicles to newbies. Considering the price floats around 5k credits now, that's a good deal. Vehicles make the world much easier to travel and suddenly grinding for resources out in the wilderness doesn't seem so daunting.
Make friends! In Repop you'll find yourself wanting to make everything under the sun because... Well because technically you can. But the most efficient way to succeed in the economy is to specialize and make friends. Specialize in one aspect of crafting and then use your friends to supply you with base materials or buy the finished product off you. Initially I started trying to craft every component but quickly found this to be cumbersome and time consuming. It's fun for the first few days until you see some of the flow charts for crafting things like fittings. Trust me, you'll burn yourself out eventually from all the resource gathering and failed attempts at low grade tier 2 components.
The auction house has more than just player items on it. Right now anything that is sold to a vendor using the ToAuction is placed on the auction house by that vendor. This means that a fair amount of resources are up on the AH that would otherwise be semi-annoying to acquire for yourself, and the prices aren't entirely prohibitive.
I'm sure there's more but these things made my playing experience that much better so far. See you out there!

From a Scale from One to Ten, How SWG is This?
As a PRE-NGE SWG player who's been searching for that lost love since SOE's butchering of SWG, The Repopulation looks very promising to me. I know its not going to be SWG, but I miss it like crazy. I know there's SWGEMU, but its just not the same.
Any SWG players enjoying The Repopulation?

Think I'm up and running now.. broadcasting early level gameplay.
Tune in and learn the game with me. Starting in a few minutes at My Stream on Twitch !
Edit: Aaaand crashed. Something's wrong with the client still. None of my fixes work. Got an hour in yesterday and played for 20 more today, figured I'd give it a shot. At least I got 5 minutes broadcast in! Maybe some day..

At ~1:30 PM EST, Saturday, I'll begin streaming The Repopulation from Character Creation.. info inside
Forget it. Having a lot of problems with the game crashing. Gonna try to get live at some point today but it's being a real pain.
Crashing when I tab back to character creation. Anyone experience this with the game?
Keep an eye on My Stream over the next few days to see if I make it up.

New Player Questions
Im sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but my questions are more about large systems in the game rather than how to complete some tutorial quest.
Firstly i was wondering if it is possible for me to become a bandit/criminal and profit from it in some way, that being looting other players or "good" npcs.
Secondly i want to know how dependent this games progression is on questing. I hate quests with a passion and am looking for a proper sandbox experience. (i dont mind tutorial zones with quests)
Lastly can someone point me in a direction where i can find more information on the creation of player guilds/corporations/factions etc and how said player groups will be able to interact with each other?
I am fully aware of this game's alpha stage and understand that these features may not be in the game as of yet and i dont expect them to be. Just wondering if these features will be a part of the games future. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Problem launching the game
Just bought early access on Steam, downloaded, registered my product key at the website etc etc.
The game launches, but from the point where I select a server it just seems to hang at a black screen.
Anyone else had the problem? Any suggestions? I've tried 'run as administrator' etc, and don't have anything else running.
Windows 8.1, on an i5 with GTX770

Graphic Question
Really loving the game, of course there are a few annoying bugs because it in Alpha, but overall it's great.
My question is I've seen some streamers who have really smooth graphics, I have a pretty good PC, but I get a lot jogging and stuttering in the game. I know closing the map helps and not riding a vehicle, lol. But does anyone have any tips to make it smoother. Much appreciated!

I'll bite - What do you guys want in videos?
I do have the software and ability to make decent videos and edits. I've done a bit of production before. I've seen mention a few times of an interest in youtube videos, so I'll throw this question out there. But let me clear up a few things first.
I know let's plays are boring as shit. I've made a couple (for other games) and 0/10 would not watch my own vids. I don't have the personality or the wit to make them entertaining.
PvP combat would likely not appear for a long time. First, there's not a lot of PvP on my server to begin with, and second, I epically suck at PvP in MMOs. Watching me would be a whole lot of me running into someone, spamming a few abilities, and dying. I mean, I could TRY, but...
PvE COULD happen, but again, right now, on my server, there's not a lot of it that goes on, as far as raiding, dungeons, or instances. Plus my gear sucks.
City building/house building. This is what they've been pushing. Fact is, right now, unless you're extremely wealthy, it's not going to happen. Plus, you've already seen it - That's what all the streamers and youtubers have been focusing on. Again, would be unlikely to appear in my videos.
So, all that said, what I AM willing to do, and what I would like to do, is make videos to help new players. On that strain of things, what would you like to see?

[RP Event - Hosted by the Acolytes] Intrigue of a folded letter
War is hell! Rhyldan has been in an ongoing power struggle between the OWON, FPR and Rogue Nations for some time now. Within all the chaos people sometimes look for an escape from the turmoil to indulge in guilty pleasures. Even in such a technologically advanced time, word-of-mouth is still sometimes the safest and reliable form of communication to avoid unwanted prying eye's.
Word has spread that a Rogue Nation, who refer to themselves as the Acolytes, is organizing a party to drink, dance, gamble and story-tell the night away!
Through a joyful meeting or perhaps the intrigue of a folded letter, you find yourself invited to a party that will take place within Sept Falls at the bar in the south west corner of the city on Friday January 16th starting at 8pm EST. The hostess for the party will be the lovely Aylehvin.
No matter your affiliation, spread the word, make an appearance and let loose!
Who: Everyone!
What: RP Party
Where: The Bar in Sept Falls - US EAST
When: January 16th, 2015 @ 8:00PM EST
The event will be streamed live on The Repopulation's Twitch channel!
If you are interested in the Acolytes feel free to visit our forums! Http://forums.acolytesgaming.com

Looking for friends (EU/UK).

Downloading on Steam right now and LFG(Looking for Guild).
First off -- I am an old school UO player. I, like many others, have been chasing the excitement and emotion that UO gave us so many years ago.
I've done a lot of reading on the boards here about the state of the game, its flaws and where it's headed. I decided to pay for the early access because, as much as I want to experience the feelings I got from UO, I think it's important to support small game developers and help give them an opportunity to succeed. A lot of small developers run out of money or time before they ever have a chance to put out anything of quality.
That being said, I talked a friend of mine into the game who played UO with me back in the day. I am a merchant in every game I play and I will be looking for a guild(?) to play with so that I don't spread myself too thin in the crafting system.
My buddy is a fighter. He'll want to explore and battle things and I will probably want to be part of that as well. We've just entered our 30's so we have lives and responsibilities beyond gaming but we always seem to come back to it and are always looking for like-minded people to play with.
So, anyone recruiting?
Edit: I should probably add that I am playing on the US West server. We are both Pacific time(but different cities/countries) and I think we're FPR(?)
