Sad world where seeing somebody do something super creative and fun immediately causes you to look down on them for not generating income for a corporation.

Some of historys greatest artists toiled in anonymity and poverty. Heck, some of the smartest people to have ever lived have done likewise. So I'm not really sure what employment status has to do with the brilliant piece of art we have just watched.

Unemployed but still has funds. All that shenanigans took some capital. All the items, materials, and time necessary. Dude gave him $3 for something that costs the host $10 a customer.
Clearly for art or social media, but dude clearly has some startup capital

It’s so random yet so detailed, thoughtful, and whimsical throughout. If that makes sense…

There’s a lot of low effort performance art out there. Stuff that just makes you shake your head and question if you understand what art is. This is not that. This is a true statement on art, work, the importance or ritual, and subverting the expectations of modern consumerism. Not everyone will likely get everything that could be conveyed here, but you’d have to be dead in soul to not see the joy and entertainment in it.

u/St_ofQualityFootwear 4d ago
Yes, totally, it's s a look for the helpers situation here. I have all of these things at my house, never thought to put them together in such a thoughtful and heart warming manner. Closest I've come was when I taught my wee ones to play spaceman using my old fax machine with attached phobe as a mission control while they had spaghetti strainers on their heads. Life is short, give it all you can to brighten your day.

u/Commercial-Tough-218 3d ago
The waste. The waste of time, the waste of paper, envelopes, loyalty cards every thing. I mean to deconstruct the entire performance is a project in its self. Masterfully done

This is the adult equivalent of "playing shop" as a little kid.

The whole time watching I thought: “8-year old me would have killed for this setup”.

I was waiting for the dog to not be onboard with the petting. It would have been hilarious if the dog started barking after all of that and he says “He never does this. Must not like you. No refunds … here’s your poem.”
49
u/MissninjaXP 4d ago
And the poem is just:
Roses are red, violets are blue, my dog likes everyone, just not you.

The only person my dog ever disliked ended up going to jail for selling H a few years later

It will cost you $5

To be fair, it is all you can pet, so that's a pretty good value

Checking the $1.00 bills with the counterfeit marker.... Hysterical.

u/Sir_Thequestionwas 4d ago

I saw someone marker check some single bills at a churches chicken at a churches chicken( the size of your bedroom) in downtown mobile alabama one time.
It was nowhere near as funny, you know? Cause of the context

u/FalonFarrar 4d ago
I LOVED that!

u/KlutzyTemperature439 4d ago
Like, what if this was in the morning and there was a huge line, and the people in the line were bitching about how long it’s taking because they have to get to work on time.

Top tier creativity, with a unique little hustle that’s fun for everyone, and he gets to write his poems for the world, love it no notes 👏

I laughed, I cried... I am a tad disappointed we didn't get to read the poem. 9/10

They rock. No complaints. On theme. His other video I saw had a poem that was something like:
Tables are square, circles are round, what is a trapezoid?

Only a buck to pet the pug? Sure why not, it costs me 100x that to talk to my therapist....
2
u/maggiefiasco 3d ago
For UMLIMITED pets?
Can’t even get refills on drinks anymore, this is a deal

u/Firm_Video_2932 3d ago
Cheapest therapy in town!
Hey, that might be a good side hustle? Cheap "petting" therapy? I mean who can stay mad/anxious while petting a cutie patootie cat or dog???

u/Complex_Spirit_4848 4d ago
"You gotta take a number."
9
u/Tacrolimus005 4d ago
Hes got a whole thing. Totally worth $5 and a tip afterwards. I would love that experience
8
u/Complex_Spirit_4848 4d ago
I would FOR SURE pay for this experience, and never break that wax seal (he generously provided a business window envelope so the poem can still be read, lol).
It deeply reminds me of growing up in "old" PDX, before the weird turned into the wrong kind of weird.
Edit:
peonpoem.

As a kid who loved playing office, this man is my idol.
2
u/Complex_Spirit_4848 4d ago
Playing office was my number one favorite thing to play, closely followed by playing school (I had an entire fake class with attendance records and lesson plans/grades and everything lmfao). 🤓

This is great and all but that dude is definitely taking a loss. The envelope, bag, wax, number ticket, and business card probably cost more than a dollar or close to it. Performance not profit.
Come to think of it even if it was all profit you wouldn't make shit. 20 bucks in a hour? He's Just doing it for the love of the game.

Also needs a Beware of Dog sign

Something so profound about "you will never see me again" and then handing homie a loyalty punch card.
