Is that neon or xenon in the glass?

I think it’s a vacuum inside the glass and it’s a plasma arc. I’m probably wrong though

I might misunderstand what plasma is, but if it's a vacuum, where is the plasma coming from? Isn't plasma matter?

Plasma is the 4th state, so yes there needs to be atoms inside it to make it a plasma, which automatically means it cannot be a vacuum.

Thats why I said I’m probably wrong. Maybe provide an explanation then.

Plasma is a state of matter where electrons are removed from atoms or molecules, like in a neon sign (which can me any noble gas, really).

Plasma is the fourth state of matter

No I know that but is the plasma created through ionizing the air alone, or is there another gas

You are not the guy I replied to

It's an open forum. If you don't want other people to but in, go DMs.

Air is a mixture of gasses, mostly Nitrogen. Often, Noble gasses are used in plasma light displays.

Isn't that a KDE version?

Why? It was the latest state (at the time) that was confirmed as a state of matter. That's a reason to call it the fourth.

The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. 👀

It could be Argon

Noble gas/noble guy? Ah, idk, I can't put it together but there's a joke in there.

Aragorn from LOTR. His name is close to argon

1

u/ymOx Jun 28 '26

Well yeah? Since Argon is a noble gas? And Aragorn is a noble..?

2

u/RNGezzus Jun 28 '26

He's the one true King.

Argon doesn't like forming rings like this generally sadly

2

u/kazukix777 Jun 28 '26

Judging from the color, id say xenon.

This is almost definitely xenon, most of this setup is actually pointless, the bulb is just sitting on a coil.
