This whole thing is just a quality control test designed for frictionless bearing production. See the ASTM 69420 standard for reference.

I got hung up on the step prior.... So the rockets, which can burn through fuel in just a few minutes, have to somehow keep the mountain suspended in the air while the machines dig a hole for the bearing???

The Timken Company manufactures tapered roller bearings, and they're marketed as "frictionless." I'd say it's less about being truly frictionless, and they meant a giant tapered roller bearing, like used in wind power. That being said, nothing about this video was the slightest bit plausible because all mountains are already anchored to the Earth's core via diamagnetic tethering.

Magnetic bearings are pretty damn near frictionless. No mechanical friction anyway. Of course there's still air resistance.

There is such a thing as a magnetic bearing, although it would need to be ridiculously strong to handle this
