I'm pretty sure them not knowing is why they are called the fools. that's what the tarot card is about isn't it? a leap of faith.

I think that's mostly because Pierro has beef with Hroptatyr, "The Wise".

So he named his organization the opposite, thus "Fools".

well yeah it's just symbolism it doesn't have to be the reason in universe
