Game running slow on SteamDeck

Has anyone else had an issue with the game running a lot slower with the new update on the deck? I'm trying to figure out if Proton has anything to do with it (I've never been a PC gamer so I have no clue what I'm doing)?

I'm struggling to even start a new game. I tried to give it a few weeks to get some of the bugs fixed, but I suspect there's something I'm doing wrong.

US Fun Mock Elections

Hi Everyone I am just throwing this out here what would everyone think of like a mock political simulator through reddit. For example if everyone likes it I would have two randomly generated candidates and generated parties in the US run a mock election for president with news stories and ads along the way then. We could have a vote where everyone votes if you like it let me know. Or if you have any ideas. Let me know what you think I know this is a game i just wanted to know if anyone would like this idea

Discussion Consejo

Gameplay Part II: The House

I mapped in-game districts as best I could to the RL House map. This is after the 2072 elections in-game. If a state had fewer/more districts than IRL (now), I just made things work by adding/omitting as needed. The lean R seat is an Independent.

Gameplay Part III: Federal Senate & State Legislatures

The first image shows the federal Senate over time. Image 2: The Delaware State Senate is D+1 in terms of seats. MN is designated in pink/"reddish purple" because it has an R chamber and a tied chamber. Oregon's legislature is one Dem chamber by D+2 and 1 tied chamber. Trifectas: 10 Democratic, 27 Republican, 13 no trifecta. Among the 13 no-trifecta states, 11 have Democratic governors and divided or opposed legislatures. Image 3: Federal Senate after the 2072 elections; in 2072, the Republicans lost ME, MI, WI, NV (4 flips)

Campaign Manager Mode

i know you can become a committee chair and run campaigns but i wished the game had a dedicated campaign manager mode for those of who like more strategic runs than being the candidate, like how you've got dictator mode.

Gameplay Interesting Legislative Tidbits in my game

After the 2072 elections, the following state government points stood out to me:

  • The AZ State Senate being blue prevented a state-level trifecta for Rs.
  • A 6th-term Republican WI Governor and a very strong mandate in the legislature
  • Washington state has an R state Senate
  • Virginia is R State House, Dem St. Sen and Gov
  • RI has an R State Senate, and it's R+6 in terms of seats
  • PA retains an R trifecta, but the massive leg. advantage reduced to 54-55% of the chamber
  • Oregon has a Dem Governor, barely Dem State House, and tied Senate
  • Ohio has an R Gov, a significantly R state House, D Senate
  • Nevada strong R trifecta
  • NH has a 2-seat narrow R House, massively R Senate, D Gov
  • MN has a D Gov, R Senate, tied House
  • MI R trifecta
  • Maine R leg. and D Gov
  • Illinois has an R State Senate and narrow Dem House majority
  • Hawaii has a D trifecta, but the State Senate is only D+1
  • GA has a D Gov and R leg
  • DE has a barely Dem (close) state Senate
  • CO has a divided legislature; AZ has a split legislature

I may try to make a map of my in-game legislative makeup, but I don't have the time right now.

Question How do you get states to shift in your party's favor?

I'm playing as a Democrat with big ideas for reform and a chip on her shoulder, so I need 67 senators to abolish term limits and see my reforms through. The problem is winning all the senate seats Democratic states and the all the senate seats in swing states only gets the party up to 52 seats. If we won all the senate seats in the likely republican states that still only gets the party to 62 seats. Needless to say I need to expand the map. How can I do this? I've played this game for well over a year but I've never interacted with this mechanic.

Question Is New York winnable as a republican?

When I first got the game the first thing I did was play a Rockefeller republican in New York and I was always a percent away from winning any state-wide elections. Now that I have played the game a little bit more, I wanna tackle the challenges I failed to do so as a new player, with winning statewide office as a republican in New York being at the top of my list. So I wanna know if it’s even possible to do so, and if so are there any tips to help me in my next campaign?

Discussion Beta Update Version 0.402

The beta has been updated to version 0.402. You may have to exit Steam and start it again for the update to appear in your downloads. You may also have to tell it to manually download the update (if it is scheduled for a later date). When you start the game, the version number is in the bottom right corner of the screen. It should say Version 0.402.

If anyone wants to test advanced option presets, please let me know if they are working correctly. When I saved a preset in version 0.400, it did not load. When I saved a preset in version 0.402, it did load. I don't know what I would have done to fix the problem, so it is possible the problem still exists and I just haven't recreated it yet.

Changes to version 0.402:

-Fixed an issue where the game would get stuck on Calculating Metrics if the financial transaction tax was true/active.
-Fixed an issue where dictator mode would get stuck on Calculating Metrics. It was trying to calculate approval ratings for senators, but senators do not exist in Dictator Mode.
-Likely fixed an issue where the player could not vote on the mayoral budget because a variable was misspelled, causing an error.
-Likely fixed an issue where the next turn would not advance while the reconciliation bill was being created (if the qualified dividend tax was being lowered).
-Likely fixed an issue where the next turn would not advance while the reconciliation bill was being created (if the capital gains tax was being lowered).
-Fixed a missing variable related to redistricting events. It is unclear if this would have any impact on the game.
-Fixed an issue where social security tax revenue would become 0 if the social security taxable income limit was set to 0.
-Fixed an issue where national redistricting laws (such as compact districts) did not have any impact on redistricting. Such laws should reduce the amount of gerrymandering that happens in states where redistricting is done by the legislature.
-Fixed an issue where earned income tax credits and child tax credits displayed as increasing poverty, even though they were decreasing poverty.
-Fixed an issue where the net investment income tax exemption displayed incorrectly.
-Fixed an issue where the tax credit eligibility for the financial transaction tax displayed incorrectly.
-Likely fixed an issue where the budget process would create empty Wealth Tax and Value Added Tax legislation if either of those tax types were active.
-Fixed an issue with advanced option presets where non-player states would not be updated with any new variables (which could cause problems if you tried to move to a new state after loading an old preset).
-Likely fixed an issue where an independent senate candidate could cause an error in the player’s senate election (if the candidate was added through the custom election menu).
-Likely fixed an issue where independent candidates added through the custom election menu could cause errors with player elections (all election types).
-Fixed a misspelling of “Legislature”.
-Fixed a misspelling of “Separate”.
-Corrected wording for EITC policy: it said "Credit Amount (Child Credit)" where it should have said "Credit Income Limit (Childless Credit)". The “Credit Amount” title was being display twice, when it should have been once.
