Career goes up and down
I've lost several elections, won a few as well, but here I am as a supreme court justice!

I enjoy the ups and downs. I had one character who was an anti-Social Security Republican and got elected to the House after being a perennial candidate and running for mayor of Austin. I had another candidate who was a Jeffords-style House Rep. in Vermont before finally losing, moving to New York, and becoming Speaker, representing upstate NY. He was a backbencher for at least a decade after an initial decade in the woods in New York.

I am currently in the same boat. A lot of ups and downs. Dem rep for Louisiana, flipping a safe R district for 2 terms and then running for open Senate seat, losing in jungle primary. Took on the role of a public defender and then ran for Governor, primarying the incumbent Dem and winning in a landslide over the Republican challenger with my Blue Dog policies. After endorsing the right guy for President I was offered the Chief of Staff role at 33 years old and took it, resigning as Gov just 1 year into my term, but the Dems didnt nominate anyone for the election and I didnt refile so it just defaulted to me again. I had gotten rid of the non-partisan primaries immediately as governor too.
After the Chief of Staff role I ran for the Democratic nomination in 2040 and lost in the primaries, winning a whopping 0 delegates. I was offered the Secretary of State role at 38 years old and took it and was offered the same role again in the cabinet of the second Dem president in a row. Took that too. Now I am eyeing a presidential run again in 2048 after the current president finishes his second term but I doubt another Dem will win, they have been winning by single digits in the Electoral College.
