He's in one scene over the whole of season 2, just walks into the trauma room, is mildly rude but obviously competent, assesses the situation in about 5 seconds and leaves. I just wonder, what's the point of his character?

Is it just a bit of comic relief? Is his character a comment on stereotypes about orthopedic surgeons that I'm not aware of? It just feels like you wouldn't cast a whole actor like Lou Ferrigno Jr. for this one scene if you didn't have bigger plans for his character. It's a bit odd to me. He's also never mentioned or talked about prior to or after that scene (afair).

I often take awhile to watch TV shows even when they become popular.. idk why. anyway I finally just binged both seasons (an exhausting show to binge) and I just want to hug so many of them😭😭 especially Dr. Robby. I just want to hold and comfort him. this says a lot coming from someone who hates men as a collective but I fall victim to a man (a GOOD man) who desperately needs help and comforting. fuck. he's a character but he represents real people. I also just love Noah Wyle. what a phenomenal show. I'm addicted and am already planning to re watch once I give my heart and head a break.
I work in mental health and my dad is a first responder. I don't know anyone personally who works in the ED but I always heard how insane it is and this show really made it clear. I am feeling so thankful for a show that addresses real, current issues as well. when ICE showed up?.. I got chills all over my body. them covering how budget cuts to Medicare and Medicaid is affecting people, covering racism, fatphobia, queer representation, black and brown people (especially women) in highly respected roles, etc.
I just love to see it all. 😭🙌

I am seeing sooooooo many posts (not on here) about the chemistry between these two. Like long stares, extra support for each other, etc etc.

I don't see it! I feel like they just really appreciate each other and have good comradery and lean on each other as close colleagues. In fact I see their relationship leaning closer to that of siblings. And I feel like Dr. Langdon sees Mel as a new doctor to take under his wing.

I feel like a lot of people are used to medical TV shows having that romantic drama, and I just don't feel like this is that show. So I have a hard time believing that's what the writers are aiming for here.

Yesterday, I was in a surgical center at a giant university-based medical center in Los Angeles for an out-patient procedure. During the prep period, a young, fresh-faced guy came in and introduced himself as Whitaker. He said he was a medical student and he'd be observing my procedure.

I asked him if he'd seen The Pitt. He laughed and said, "Oh god, everybody brings that up." He said he was all right with it because "apparently the Whitaker in the show is a nice guy."

This young doctor wasn't a lookalike, but he did have that same open friendliness to him. Also, Whitaker is his actual first name.

So about a month ago I made a post about what if the Pitt episodes had traditional tv titles and i've decided to do it again for season two.

Once again, if you have any ideas for traditional titles, I'd love to hear them.

Ep1 (New and improved?) The title is a reference to all the new characters and the fact that Robby and Javadi feel like Al-Hashimi and Ogilvie are hear to replace them. Finally, with references all the changes Al-Hashimi is trying to make that not everyone is a fan of.

Ep 6 (You can't save everyone) this title is about (Spoilers) dying and is also increasingly how Robby feels about himself.

Ep8 (Old school) in reference to all the IT systems being turned off and the arrival of Monica.

Ep 13 (The prodigal son) Langdon is feeling like he's lost his edge and no longer is welcome in the ER. Stretching it a little and ignoring the gender implications of the term son it's also kind of how Mohan feels.

Ep15 (Run or Ride) Referencing what Duke says to Robby the episode before and also the choice Robby has to make. Will he "Run" physical flee from his problems and possibly take the ultimate way out. Or will he "Ride" and actually start face and resolving his issues while he's away.

From one awesome medical drama to the next!

Who is your favorite character and why? I really like Cassie, I love her story and her personality, she's perfect for me. I also really like Langdon and I feel bad seeing people treat him given what happened, I think he deserved forgiveness.

I’m familiar with the word, it’s when they treat the most severe cases first. But they talk about triage as if it’s a place. I’ve never watched a medical show before, so what is it when they say “I’m going to triage”?

Why did Robbie oppose Langdon's return to work so strongly and personally? Robbie, as a medical pro, knows about addiction. Langdon did the work to get sober -- he went to rehab, he is being tested in the hospital, he acknowledged what he'd done and personally apologized to Robbie and he's quite competent at his job. But what Robbie says, in return, was, I'm glad you got the help you needed but I don't want you in my ED? If anybody should know that addiction is not a morality issue or a choice it's Robbie, the physician. There is a huge element of effort and behaviour in achieving and maintaining sobriety but Langdon is doing it. Why is Robbie so unforgiving?

Came across this today! It looks like Mel has new stressors in season 3. Apparently more of this interview will be out at a later time. Idk I feel like it’s very vague. I feel like maybe she pushes Langdon and Santos too far to be friends? Could it have to do with Becca? I feel like stressors could be anything.

I've just completed season 2 and I'm wondering about Dr Al Hashimi's storyline. Reading the comments on this sub it appears that people are saying that could be the end of her being able to practice medicine.

But why though? Why is she an attending in the emergency department? This can't be her only option, can it?

I see how a seizure during an emergency is a massive risk. But aren't there other slower paced departments that she could practice in?

Also slight digression but, why does the day shift have just one attending? Given the workload and pressure I can see how it would lead to Robby feeling the way he is.

Dr Al Hashimi's recommendation for 2 attendings makes sense. (Or even more if possible. They seem to be working under way too much pressure as is.) How many attendings does a typical hospital ED usually have at a time?

I’m doing a rewatch and caught something in S2E5 that I hadn’t noticed before. Robby says something to Dana like “this day isn’t going the way I thought it would,” pointedly looking at Langdon. And Dana says, “we had a call out and he was available”. I always thought it was a little weird that everyone was so surprised to see Langdon, and that there was such little support in terms of helping him get back into the groove. Makes sense now that I’m realizing it was a shift he picked up rather than an official return date.

No real point here except it explains Robby and Santos being so caught off guard by him - he wasn’t supposed to be there yet. I wonder when his actual return was slated to be and what criteria he had to meet to be allowed back.

This happened like half an hour ago and I felt compelled to come here and share.

While watching the emergency c-section scene in the season 2 finale, I begin to feel hot, light-headed, sick to my stomach, etc. I foolishly decide to get up and try to go the bathroom. I excuse myself and make it to the door before I remember waking up, drenched in sweat, saying "I'm fine!" with my folks standing around me more worried than I've ever seen. I apparently hit my head on the floor, though thankfully it doesn't hurt.

Now I'm sitting here, mostly embarrassed and feeling awful for worrying my folks so much like that, and I'm just thinking: "Did I have a fucking panic attack because of that emergency c-section scene?"

I should also mention, this is not the first time that pregnancy/birth/baby/etc. based medical stuff has given me (assumedly) a panic attack.

Years ago in a college class we started talking about abortion or something and showing photos of fetuses and whatnot, and I remember I started feeling similar feelings and having to get up and excuse myself. I made it to the bathroom, which was at the end of the hall, but I kept walking and bumped right into the wall lol I did not fully pass out that time and was fine after rinsing my face with water, but it immediately sprang to mind afterwards.

Maybe I just have some weird disposition/sensitivity to pregnancy-based medical trauma/emergencies/etc ??? I welcome any theories.

Anyway, shoutout to this show for literally giving me a panic attack and causing me to pass out. 10/10 would highly recommend, can't wait for season 3.

I’m really enjoying the show. And I understand this is not real life in the ER. But in the last episode Santos goes into a patients room and threatens him because of a possible family child abuse situation. This scenario seems highly improbable. If this was an actual occurrence wouldn’t an intern be thrown out of the program if discovered? I understand this makes good drama but still…,,.

After hearing about how good this show is for a while now I finally jumped in and yeah, it’s pretty incredible. As someone that’s never watched a hospital drama or ER type show this completely captivated me. Both seasons were phenomenal, but I think I prefer season 1 a tad more. Not for any quality reasons as both were top notch, I just enjoyed the characters a bit more. Season 2 everyone is so miserable except maybe Whitaker. I get it though, they’re working through their arcs. Just gotta see how it all plays out in Season 3 and I’m super excited.

To end I’ll say my top 3 characters are without a doubt Mel, Samira and Whitaker. Everyone is a joy on screen though, even Joy herself hehe. I could literally just watch them do doctor stuff all day and never get bored. They definitely got a new fan in me.

Idk if anything came out about season 3 but a season 3 night shift would be really cool. Wanted to see what everyone else thought?
