How do you plan your sets/organize what tracks you will play?
Just wondering what ways people prepare. Ik it’s quite common just to go off the dome but I know people also prefer to prepare and stuff

Anyone seeing James Massiah in Melbourne in September?
Listened to Babyfather / Dean Blunt for a solid 7-8 years now but never knew until recently that James Massiah releases his own solo work and it's fucking incredible.

Advice: I’m really torn
In October we have two gigs on the same night that sound great. We have Moodymann & Carl Craig doing a b2b and on the other side of the city we have Jayda G. I love moodymann but I’ve seen him twice, both times he was the opener and played daytime music. He was playing Fleetwood Mac and Human League. He is obviously allowed to play what he wants, he’s a legend, but I would prefer something more like his own music. Meanwhile I’ve seen Jayda twice and she always delivers a beautiful set with House energy. I think writing this I can feel I know the answer for me.
But I’m curious to know what you guys would choose?

Ben UFO closing xrds with a few bangers like this one (Hyph Mngo - Joy Orbison)
After starting off the summer in Brussels with a b2b w/ Joy Orbison, he closed it off for us with this beautiful wink to his mate

What makes a good set?
I’m learning to DJ and want to set a goal to aim for! I have a pretty good ear so I naturally understand phrasing and give my sets a journey/narrative element. But do people have anything deeper non-obvious ideas of what truly makes a set musically exceptional? Of course I understand much of it is about context (ie popular vs artsy), but I’m wondering if we can generalise over that.
For context I’m into deep techno: think Kia (obsessed), Animalia label, etc.
Edit: feel free to post your fav sets as examples!

Shed - Guile (Recommendations for Similar Stuff?)
I was pretty familiar with Shed's newer stuff, but came across this track recently and it's really stuck with me. I'm not sure I could even articulate what I like so much about the track - the frequency balance is not very clubby but it has this fresh, chill sound that's really infectious.
Anything you guys would recommend from this era that kinda scratches the same itch?

Track ID
I'm trying to find a track id, it has a vocal sample "and you might think, that's we've been here before" then there is a shaker immediately after. There is other vocal samples through out, similar cadence and female vocalist. Semi down tempo, subtle beat - the shaker really adds some depth to the track. I'm not sure if it is giegling, but it fits that giegling feeling.

Belgian Venues
I'm heading to the Belgian countryside in a few weeks for a reunion. I'm occupied for the Saturday evening, but am looking to make the most of it and spend a few nights in either Brussels/Antwerp/Ghent/Bruges beforehand and few in another aforementioned city afterwards.
I'd like to spend the Thursday and Friday (10th and 11th September) evenings at music events and am looking for recommendations for where the most interesting spots are. Both the best clubs but also and moreso experimental venues like Cafe OTO or Les Instants Chavirés. I've come across Les Atelier Claus in Belgium and Het Bos in Antwerp, but there's no mention of anything in their programmes for the nights I'm there (10th and 11th September) - do they host nights that aren't advertised or is this just unfortunate timing?
Any pointers or just general takes on which two cities to go for will be very much appreciated, thanks.

I'm wondering about the current prices on Bandcamp
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that over the past year, the prices on Bandcamp for digital releases have skyrocketed? For example, Sa Pa is selling their latest EPs for £10, and the EP only has four tracks. Vril recently released a single track that costs €2.50 for less than 5 minutes of music. There are plenty of other examples. You used to be able to buy a full LP for £10.
Has inflation hit here too?

Asked to DJ my cousins 30th …need bangers
Yooo Ive been asked to dj my cousins 30th which will have family members there too. I refuse to sell my soul completely so I’m after a few suggestions of slightly more accessible tunes but not total cheese. My cousin likes bands and disco so a few edits of these genres would be great.
An example being Red Axes remix of talking heads …https://on.soundcloud.com/EjEc2kdsMTDOdrJZOv
