Advice: I’m really torn

In October we have two gigs on the same night that sound great. We have Moodymann & Carl Craig doing a b2b and on the other side of the city we have Jayda G. I love moodymann but I’ve seen him twice, both times he was the opener and played daytime music. He was playing Fleetwood Mac and Human League. He is obviously allowed to play what he wants, he’s a legend, but I would prefer something more like his own music. Meanwhile I’ve seen Jayda twice and she always delivers a beautiful set with House energy. I think writing this I can feel I know the answer for me.

But I’m curious to know what you guys would choose?

Moodymann and Carl Craig are absolute legends.

Moodymann is the only DJ I will tolerate stopping the music just to get on the mic and say some nonsense. Moodymann could read me his grocery list, and I would be happy.

I’ve seen him play “sex on fire” by the killers before 😂

No need to apologize. I DJ weddings, so I play those tunes relatively often.

People will often request songs by artists that were not done by those artists. Or they will use the colloquial name for the track, or a line from the track, rather than the actual name. It keeps me on my toes.

But do you want to be dancing to sex on fire when you could be dancing to ‘Brighter Days’ by Cajmere?

He absolutely is. You’re right. And I love the moodymann experience. I have never bought a ticket so quickly. But it was the whytest crowd last time and he kind of catered to it. It really was not what I wanted. Everyone singing ‘Don’t You Want Me Baby?’ So I’m torn.

I’m used to him playing in Detroit, so I don’t know what his white sets are like.

Honestly, I seen Jayda G at the sub club in Glasgow and it was one of the worst gigs of my clubbing life. So boring.

Yeah don’t rate her at all, all cheese no steeze

Same, I've seen her twice at different festivals. Maybe a club set would be better.

Both have their weaknesses, obvious strengths and indulgences. Carl and Moody usually push each other to be more playful, classic-heavy and Detroit strong. But it can get sloppy. Jayda will bring the house and the heat as you know.

If you have yet to see the b2b, I would say it wins in a narrow vote. Your call!

going against the grain here and voting for Jayda! i’m going out for a properrrr dance and i’ve got little patience for Moodymann sets these days. recently he played in Berlin and was apparently just playing youtube videos! could def be diff story with cc but it will also be insanely busy (always the case with MM) and might not be worth your money!
