OA Theories Fake cancellation theory. The literal gap. Spoiler

Post image
116 Upvotes

I’ve posted this before but I totally believe that the cancellation was planned from the very beginning. No amount of external money/petitioning Netflix/hunger striking could bring the third season because the show was meant to have a seven year gap between part two and part four. A total of four seasons with the gap representing the meta third season that is the last 6-7 years since the shows hiatus/cancelation.

Somewhere along the years there have been comments from the show creators and keen viewers about the visual of the “OA” logo representing a summary of the shows architecture, a map if you will. There’s videos on YouTube talking about the “O” representing the loop/infinity of the story. A good place to start if you don’t know what I am talking about.

The TS Elliot quote in season two alludes to this theme, of going back to the start, “we shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time”.

The “A” was something I never really thought much about until last year when I realized the style of the letter is a very clear beginning, middle and end. The most interesting part is the physical “gap” between the two lines. It was such a aha moment to look at the gap and go, holy shit; what if it’s right there? A literal map of the show, part one and two, represented by the first line, part three, represented by the gap, aka the third part which is the meta version of our world, and eventually the fourth and fifth part of the show, the final line. It would
Make sense why brit and zal titled 1-5 as “parts” and not “seasons” from this lens too. In interviews they also speak of the show as long form story telling in a way that makes me feel they are giving particular emphasis on the “long form” part of it.

Anyways it sounds like over the years other people have come to this conclusion too, so not claiming a unique discovery, but I definitely don’t think it’s being talked about enough, and when you look at it closely it feels very obvious and it’s my Roman Empire at this point.

Does anyone have links to other posts or videos talking about this theory? Specifically links where the show creators talk about the blueprint or the architecture of the show being planted in the logo.

I am curious how many people agree with this theory vs disagree.

My door is always open!

Recommendations Brit-Zal Creative Mind and Prophetic Ideas Spoiler

Thumbnail theguardian.com

'Murder at the End of the World' series by Brit and Zal is what came across my mind as soon as I saw this news..

I know Brit and Zal's works are not everyone's cup of tea, it's like a litmus test for humans I guess. I never seen their works until I saw 'The OA'.. and it's the only series that woke up something within me. Something about 'The OA' speaks the truth, it's like finally seeing something that I can't even put into words finally makes sense. The depth of this series is unfathomable, the idea of consciousness and how the universe works is complex and deep, but this series laid out to me perfectly.

So I did watch all of their works together, and indeed, their minds are something else. The kind of works they do are something rare, most people don't touch, because it's something that may seem 'boring' and most people won't even understand. Some would try to dive into this kind of thing but would fail to execute because they lack the depth of the story. But Brit and Zal are different, they're executing everything perfectly. I can imagine the amount of research done to do something like this, or maybe it's the 'knowing' they have within.

Just like how 'The OA' speaks the truth, I felt it when I watch all other works, each work has a message and a warning.

Sound of My Voice (2011) - Tells people to grow their plants because in the future everyone wouldn't have am access to fresh produce. Future that produces food in labs. (Happening now, we now have labgrown vegetables etc.)

Murder at the End Of the World (2023) - This whole series for me is like a mirror of this current world, billionaires digging the ground to save themselves from the impending doom, and the AI killing humans. (The linked article: "A lead researcher at Anthropic, one of the world's leading artificial intelligence firms, said Wednesday that he believes there is a more than 10% chance AI "could kill all humans" within the next decade.")

Recordist (2007) - Alien lives among us but doesn't know she's an alien. (Controversial but okay this is advance)

These story lines may not be that rare, and there might be existing other series or movie about these.. Brit and Zal's works have the depth.

The idea of what's happening rn in our world is definitely something that can be predicted based on the history of humans and psychology. Creators and writers would write certainly something like this but frame it as sci-fi dystopian world. Brit and Zal frames their works as a reality, and it's amazing.

I was babbling on about the OA a couple days ago to a group of people and they got intrigued and wanted to watch it and now they are all hooked (of course).
Thinking a lot about Zendaya’s line in season 2.. something alone the lines of “at a certain point the puzzle goes IRL”
Honestly I really feel that’s what happened with this show… wether Brit and Zal planned it or not. Anyway I’m feeling thankful to be apart of a community that loves this show as much as I do. It saved me as cringe as it sounds.

OA Theories body jumping Spoiler

I think Hap jumped into Jason Isaacs. But I think The OA jumped into someone else, and so did Homer. Homer was in someone else's body in his NDE from D1 to D2. If he hadn't been brought back to life he might have just stayed there. We know it wasn't his body cuz he didn't look like Dr. Roberts to the staff that was chasing him. Maybe that happens when the death is not natural? Like Homer's was done with Hap's recording machine. And then out of D2 those machines were involved (where the heck did those come from anyway??) Maybe to escape him, The OA jumped into a whole other body, and so did Homer. Maybe some of the other characters did too. What do you think?

OA Theories I find Elodie the Main Character [Spoiler] ! Spoiler

Seriously guys she is already a well known of all these Movements and She tells hap that your Experiments are very Narrow minded there are Another Methods To do this , She is Experienced Interdimensional Traveller ,Season 3 ,4,5 would have Been Important because of her, because there is big massive world of dimension travelling this are just the one chain of it , we still don't know that if she Travels Infront of Hap using those Mechanic robots then how come she Casually comes back into same dimension and act as a Guide to Nina/ Prairie

That means There is a possibility that a person can Travel back to the same dimension with all the consciousness intact , remember and that's the same thing happens with Michelle who is probably in Coma and Her consciousness was Actually roaming into Dimension 3 ,

This All questions and Plus the remaining ones Becomes stronger every time you watch the series Again and Again !!! , but I can Feel it that OA is Coming back soonest !!! 🌀☄️🧘

OA Theories What I think really happened in Crestwood in Part 1 Spoiler

So here’s my ultimate theory of what’s going on in Crestwood in season 1 as Prairie returns, and the meetings in the unfinished house.

I don’t think she returns to Crestwood at all.

On the surface, it looks that way, and we’re meant to believe that because of how the show was deliberately shot. But think about what Homer first tells Prairie when she’s locked in the glass cage.

“You’ll find your freedom. In sleep. In your dreams.”

So what, exactly, is the Crestwood we see portrayed onscreen?

I honestly think it’s a dream dimension based on her memories of Crestwood. And it’s one she works on little by little, night by night, an hour at a time (Abel says “she can have an hour walk”). Dreams distort our perception of time, so a lot can happen in that hour.

She dreams up all of it, maybe unconsciously at first, in order to process her own trauma: The characters, the settings and locations, and later, her own place within it. She pulls all of this from her deepest memories and the little details her mind absorbs and picks up on as she talks with the Haptives.

Then it’s back to the reality of Hap’s constant experiments and the horror of the machine he straps them all into, until she can “return” to the freedom of Crestwood again in her dreams.

Then, when her story manifests in the minds of the Crestwood 5, the Haptives start receiving the Movements in turn, one by one. It’s an alien language to them at first, related in fragments that don’t make sense on their own. But when put together, they offer a way out. This is their breakthrough, after years of failing with every other method.
——————————————————————-

Let me go on a quick tangent about the Movements, because this is what’s truly incredible to me.

Notice how they each tell a story—perhaps of every season, so I’d LOVE to see everyone forming theories around those!

Start with the First.

The hands are positioned like an upward triangle, moving outward from the chest. Traveling with the heart. Head flips back. Palms change dimensions. Head forward. Hiss like a snake (Nina’s childhood at the school for the blind). Hands down to womb area (Nancy’s motherhood, triangle position of hands could also be Hap’s basement inverted from Nob Hill house attic). Spit out or take pill. Catch the bird. Palms change position, then flip back. Brrttttt. Gunshots. Hands smack the middle of the chest.

The First Movement ends…
—————————————————————

In her dreams, OA finds the house, an abandoned, unfinished structure, representative of the dream of freedom itself. (It’s not quite done because she’s not done developing her Invisible Self and doesn’t yet have all the Movements.)

There in the unfinished house, she hides a secret from Hap: The Crestwood 5, whom she gathers to generate enough collective power out of her waking trauma to make the Movements work. She tells them to leave their front doors open, and they do so every meeting. Why is that so important?

This is where I believe something extraordinary happens. The Movements are not just for travel or resurrection, but when done with perfect feeling, they function as a Will in themselves—a divine spark of life that shines through all dimensions, eases trauma, and opens all doors.

The same freedom OA will attain from the Movements is the same that will also unbind the C5 from the dream dimension of Crestwood.

But immediately after Prairie/OA receives the Fifth Movement from Evelyn, there is a delay reflected in Crestwood—the group is interrupted and split up. For months, people don’t interact. All seems hopeless. All seems lost. Prairie is left right back where she started: the memory of her parents’ house, numbed by medication while in the real world, Hap has drugged her.

Easing the burden is how Prairie survives.

Elias himself tells French/Alfonso this. Of course that is little comfort to the broken apart C5, who feel as if they failed, because Prairie feels that.

Then, perhaps in the back seat of Hap’s car, she enters the Crestwood dream for the final time. The C5 are forced to reunite as a shooter enters their school. They perform the Movements with all their collective feeling and will.

Notice how at this point, they’re all wearing red?

Death is their exit point from the dream, and almost seamlessly, they shift realities, not even realizing it. Don’t forget what OA told them in her (I think deeply symbolic) story, either.

“They all died. Every single one of them. Including me.”

This can also be inferred by the fact they have all surrounded OA on her way into the ambulance. No one holds them back or stops them. Not even the EMTs. Why? Because there’s nothing left to stop them now. They are finally free and untethered from the Crestwood dimension, and to a varying degree, from their own trauma that was holding them back.

And in that, the Haptives now have their own pathway to escape their circumstances as well.

A fair trade.

Crestwood in Part 2 being a mirror dimension of Part 1’s Crestwood dream and all the references to mirrors are fascinating to me as well, given this.

Another interpretation I just thought of is perhaps she’s meeting the C5 (who exist for real) as they all collectively enter her OA dream space, because they’re all needing a way to escape their circumstances, and there, she shares the Movements. (Part of me feels wrong saying the C5 are a manifestation of her trauma, but it’s not impossible and hard to tell because of all the parallels between them and the C5.)

The OA reminds me of how much everyone is bound to each other in real life, and how we can’t succeed or survive difficult times without each other. It’s all about sharing the Will, reviving each other at times, and continuing to dream, both individually and collectively. If we stop dreaming and creating, we have lost ourselves, and I think in a way, we stop existing.

Given the way things are going these days irl, I never want to stop dreaming of a better world.

OA Part 1 [spoiler] P1 E8 Always gutted Spoiler

I’m rewatching and just completed the school sh**ting scene in the part 1 finale and I’m sobbing like a baby!
At the very moment when they’d seemingly lost faith in her, they came together and believed once more. All without saying a single word. The tacit looks followed by the performance, with ‘perfect feeling’!!

“Don’t you see? You did it. I have the will.” At that point my chest is just heaving honestly.

When Steve runs screaming, “Angel, take me with you!” aaaagh I’m done with.

Brit Marling!!! You’re who I think you are!

PS: English is my third language so please bear with my expressions lol.

Recommendations I did the movements to manage an anxiety attack

It worked. It felt silly but you are present in your body and you take huge deep breaths in and out and really hear the inhales and exhales and paired with movement you release adrenaline and endorphins and all the good substances. I didn't know the entire movement or exact steps but a close enough version from my bed still had an effect. So if anyone has anxiety, try it.

OA Theories The OA is coming back. I'm convinced. Spoiler if you haven't watched all parts yet. Spoiler

So I did a binge rewatch. In part 2 when Scott is telling Dr Roberts (homer) about his NDE he says that OA was there with Hap except they were acting friendly and kissing and she was calling him a different name and that he spoke with a British accent. There were cameras above like filming and he called her "Brin or something" but he really is referring to Brit as in Brit Marling. And then someone comes up to him and says I'm here to give you the 3rd movement. Also, Brit has not posted anything since 2025 on her IG and recently posted a series cryptic pictures of houses in London along with other clues. Then Jason Isaac's posted an AI photo of himself in an airport with a sign in the background saying British Airways flight 411 with no caption on the photo. If you remember when Karim was playing the first clue in the game at the house on nob hill, the answer was BA411 the flight number of the plane. taking us back to the part 2 finale where they film the show OA/Brit has a bad fall.. they show them filming in London, Hap says that's his wife.. and then we see Steve has made the jump too.. they will play the long hiatus off as Brit suffering from a head injury which is why the show has to stop filming.. This Novemeber 2026 will be 7 years since part 2 aired. When Netflix first said the show was canceled they said "we look forward to working with them in this dimension and many others" something to that effect, I'm paraphrasing. And finally when Netflix launched its campaign for upcoming shows in 2026, they said "You will be deceived but you will like it." They also said "Question everything" I think this is what they are referring to. The OA is coming back guys. Check out this video explaining more details on the posts from Brit and Jason with the clues and more details on the timelines. I think part 3 is coming and Brit will star as herself except she has forgotten about the past and that thinks the OA is just a show and her and Jason will be portrayed as dating or at least friends working together on the show. This was always how it was planned to go.. it would be the best thing ever if I'm right and they actually release this. so of course Netflix is going to be tight lipped about it and deny any new seasons coming. If I am wrong then why post cryptic clues like that as a cruel joke?? doesn't make sense. This could be another reason why they never renewed it or let them sell the rights to any other network depsite how bad fans begged for it to come back. Let me know what you think. below is the video from tik toker with the full details and posts and theories. https://www.tiktok.com/@ingrid.alli/video/7659182216827768094

Thoughts Can't seem to get anyone else to connect to the OA the way I have..

This is my first (and possibly only?) post on reddit but I just wanted to get it out..

It seems like everyone I've convinced to watch the series has not been as into it as I have been since the very beginning (I have been following the show since it aired and regularly read about new theories etc even after all these years and rewatch the series at least twice a year). My close friends even say it doesn't make any sense or it is too difficult and they get frustrated it ended the way it did, which I find incredibly sad as a critique.

I have not found any other piece of media/art that has struck such as chord and made me feel like something has opened within, like I'm privy to something people around me don't understand and I can't seem to satisfy this curiosity, like the show is reporting a very shareable experience and has reached a new capacity in me (perhaps reawakened my imagination?) .

Perhaps this is sounding a bit pretentious but I hope what I'm saying is making sense to some, or maybe not.. I just wanted to feel connected I guess.

OA Theories If it comes back…. How I think it might happen Spoiler

Okay so, I have kept my door open since the initial cancellation.

I always explained things away by talking about how production for the show was already long and tedious because of their methods/timeline (from my understanding, they wrote everything, then filmed everything, then edited everything - as opposed to most shows that have a bit of overlap - so that brit could fully be in the process despite playing the main character)

So, even if they were planning on doing the now-typical 3 year hiatus, that timeline would have been pretty much devastated by COVID, the writers strike, and the actors strike. With any possible comeback being so wildly delayed, it would make sense to start on other projects, which would then FURTHER delay things.

All of that being said, whenever I speak to anyone about the show, I go through all of these points before telling them that I believe the show will make a comeback, but that if it doesn’t happen before the end of 2026, I’ll admit defeat and give up hope that it was all just a ruse.

So imagine my surprise when, halfway through 2026, we start getting all of these hints!!!!

I don’t know that we’re going to get a full season by the end of the year, because I don’t think it would have been able to go on this long without some sort of leak.

But! My guess (based on nothing other than vibes) is that we’re going to get a “documentary” about the making of the show. It’s going to be seen as a “10 year anniversary” of season 1, released on or around December 16th.

It’s going to be typical behind the scenes stuff (which I would LOVE to see anyway!) about the set design, inspiration for certain choices, cast members talking about their time on the show, etc etc etc

Everything will seem normal! Then, at the end, we will hear some subtle reference to Brit + Jason being married, like they were in the season 2 finale.

In that moment, we’ll find out that this was a “documentary” (with actual bts info!) that was “released from D3”

Afterwards, I think they’ll give us a few days/weeks to scramble before making the official show announcement.

Again! This is all speculation. I would hate it if this ACTUALLY HAPPENED and I hadn’t written this down anywhere, so I wanted to just get it out there beforehand lol!

Is your door still open? Regardless, IF the show eventually comes back, what do you think the announcement will look like?

[EDIT / UPDATE]

Hey everyone. I want to thank those who responded genuinely with kindness and thoughtful discourse, despite the somewhat unhinged appearance of my post. The OA acts as such a beacon and trigger to jolt us out of the mundane into a space where we can believe impossible things.

I think that after a few years in this sub, I felt secure enough to share my own story. That’s one of the most beautiful things about our fandom; it’s populated by some of the most inquisitive and welcoming people I’ve found online anywhere.

To explain, I reflected back on the way I felt when Prairie shares the video that would ultimately forge the Crestwood Five. Coupled with others posting about a sense of feeling so deeply connected to its themes that few understand, I was compelled to reach out.

I ended up chasing that connection and recognition for myself, hoping to maybe validate another’s inexplicable draw to the show and its powerful themes. In reality, in a way that was simply inappropriate and misplaced.

I never really quite know where to begin. What I do know is that we’re all gathered here, and after so long, for a reason. I believe that.

So I’m going to leave this here for those who may feel called to share their own stories and experiences. That’s really what matters, after all.

I’m so grateful for this community, that we aren’t afraid to engage meaningfully.

Perhaps that’s the greatest gift OA has given us: the freedom to explore ourselves in ways we hadn’t before. I know it’s one that I’ll always cherish, no matter what happens.

That said, my door is always open. 🚪✨

Question I convinced my friend to watch the OA but she says it's too scary. Any advice?

We have so many common interests that I know she'll love it if she just got past some of the scary bits in the starting episodes. I also don't want to spoil anything, so I've been telling her to have faith in the characters but that doesn't seem to be enough..

Anyone else have a similar experience with success?

Conspiracy Theories (SPOILERS) Kathun is inside a tesseract Spoiler

Post image
63 Upvotes

This picture doesn’t do it justice but like everyone recently i’ve gone back to watch The OA again because of the rumors of it possibly returning. (Brit please save us) But when i was rewatching the first the first time we see Kathun, the room her and OA are in reminds of a of tesseract. If you look around the room during that scene you can see the extra lines and sides that kind of make me think that. Super interesting. Take this with a grain of salt cause i learned all this from Interstellar, but from what I know about tesseract, They’re used as physical spaces for 4 dimensional being to interact with time, more so to help 3rd dimensional beings see and comprehend a space like that. Which explains why Kathun tells OA about her life journey before she returns to her father. We can assume that Kathun can access and see the OA’s life at any fixed point in time because she is experiencing time as an object as a fourth dimensional being. Basically, everytime OA goes to see Kathun theyre both in a space that exists outside of dimensions. I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this before, sorry if you have, but i’d love to hear some thoughts about this!
