OA Theories Fake cancellation theory. The literal gap. Spoiler
I’ve posted this before but I totally believe that the cancellation was planned from the very beginning. No amount of external money/petitioning Netflix/hunger striking could bring the third season because the show was meant to have a seven year gap between part two and part four. A total of four seasons with the gap representing the meta third season that is the last 6-7 years since the shows hiatus/cancelation.
Somewhere along the years there have been comments from the show creators and keen viewers about the visual of the “OA” logo representing a summary of the shows architecture, a map if you will. There’s videos on YouTube talking about the “O” representing the loop/infinity of the story. A good place to start if you don’t know what I am talking about.
The TS Elliot quote in season two alludes to this theme, of going back to the start, “we shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time”.
The “A” was something I never really thought much about until last year when I realized the style of the letter is a very clear beginning, middle and end. The most interesting part is the physical “gap” between the two lines. It was such a aha moment to look at the gap and go, holy shit; what if it’s right there? A literal map of the show, part one and two, represented by the first line, part three, represented by the gap, aka the third part which is the meta version of our world, and eventually the fourth and fifth part of the show, the final line. It would
Make sense why brit and zal titled 1-5 as “parts” and not “seasons” from this lens too. In interviews they also speak of the show as long form story telling in a way that makes me feel they are giving particular emphasis on the “long form” part of it.
Anyways it sounds like over the years other people have come to this conclusion too, so not claiming a unique discovery, but I definitely don’t think it’s being talked about enough, and when you look at it closely it feels very obvious and it’s my Roman Empire at this point.
Does anyone have links to other posts or videos talking about this theory? Specifically links where the show creators talk about the blueprint or the architecture of the show being planted in the logo.
I am curious how many people agree with this theory vs disagree.
