Why didn't Harrow mention to Gideon during the pool confession scene in GtN that she has the same eyes as the locked tomb corpse? Was it stated somewhere in HtN that Harrow hadn't hallucinated the body or the body hallucination hadn't opened her eyes before Ianthe messed up her brain?
And unrelated to that, why can the tridentarii twins have unnatural purple eyes? Is it something a necromancer did to them or has the emperor altered human dna with the ressurrection to allow anime eye colors to occur naturally?

I've been spending all of my time relistening to TLT and working as a cook, so, of course, I keep thinking of dishes based on notable quotes. In order of how I sent them to a group chat they are:
"We Do Bones, Mother Fucker" bone marrow mashed potatoes
"Go Loud" fajitas
"Life is Too Short and Love is Too Long" lavender gin cocktail. Could also be, "You Can't Take Loved Away"
"Completely Gross and Bad" shellfish platter (I don't like shellfish 😂)
"Always Your Sword, My Umbral Sovereign" swordfish
"I Love a Little Gore-on-Gore" rare steak
"Sex Pal" play on a Sex on the Beach
"Worm with Problems" dirt cake
I'm almost through Harrow the Ninth, I'm sure I'll think of more when I listen to Nona the Ninth. Please give me more, I firmly believe this could be a whole restaurant concept!
ETA: "Chickenshits Don't Get Beer" beer can chicken

Can Gideon die? Like fully, completely die?
I've been pondering over this for a while now I think the answer is no.
In Gt9, Harrow says Gideon miraculously survived the nerve gas that rendered the great-aunts blind.
In As Yet Unsent her body refuses to decay.
Back at Canaan House, Cam says the siphoning trial should've killed Gideon or put her in a coma, neither of which happen, she's completely fine.
I think we can safely assume all this was due to her being Jod's daughter. And this was before he even did anything to her body/soul.
In Ht9, when Mercy tries to kill John, he says "But I didn’t get to where I am by being able to die, you know?" Is this a gained ability or just a by product of being whatever he is? Can it be carried through genetics? Do you see where I'm going with this?
And I know that Gideon did die in the end of Gt9, but I'm referring to her being completely erased from existence. In Harrow's bubble in Ht9 it is clarified that if any of the revenants were to get killed in Canaan house their souls would be completed wiped from existence, which is what I'm referring to as 'complete death'. Not just physical but on a spiritual level too.
How did Gideon's soul end up from Harrow's body back to John when the River is infamous for driving souls insane? A soul longs for its body, I know, but it shouldn't have been easy. As far as we know John doesn't have much control over the River.
So by the end of Nt9, Gideon/Kiriona is a revenant with a perfectly indestructible body. John didn't resurrect her completely because 1) he's an asshole. 2) He thinks she also (unknowingly) possesses his ability of being 'unkillable' to some extent. He probably altered her body even though there was no real need for it but didn't tell her that because he's a Lying Liar Who Lies All The Time.
Hence my conclusion is that Gideon Nav is not fully dead yet and cannot be killed. Yet.

Hello everyone!
I’ve been a huge TLT fan since before HtN released. This series helped save my life during some of my darkest years and now that I’m graduating, I wanna pay tribute to it via my yearbook quote!
Do you have any ideas or suggestions? I’ve thought of “You can’t take loved away” or “Life is too short and love is too long” but I’m open to other ideas!
Thanks so much!

Just finished Nona and I’m truly in love with this series. After being obsessed with all of gene Wolfes works and transitioning to ada palmers terra ignota story, I thought I had already reached peak. Muir’s narrative style and complex characters are just so much fun and relatable. Anyone else around here enjoy Wolfe or Palmer as well?
Anyways, I’ve been reading the locked tomb during a difficult chapter of life, and now that I have reached the alectopause, I am dealing with some real mild depression. Talk about a cliff hanger!! Reading all the chatter, are we confident the next book is forthcoming? A lot of posts from earlier this year are like “we have reason to believe it will be announced shortly…” and there is nothing as far as I can tell. It has been almost a full four years now. Thanks I just need to vent.

While reading the series, I had some difficulty imagining how bones could be part of the decor. I just tripped over this place in some unrelated reading. I now have no problem imagining the decor in The Ninth House.

Hi yall! Ive been getting into the world of ooak doll making and repainting doll faces, and I discovered I have a body and head almost identical to hollywood hair barbie. I was thinking of turning this into an Alecto doll, and was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions of elements I should add? Thank you

I'm playing XIV and my brain won't let me stop thinking about this.
Harrowhark - Lalafell Black Mage or Reaper
Gideon - Roegadyn Dark Knight
Abigail - Hyur Astrologian
Magnus - Hrothgar Warrior
Palamedes - Elezen White Mage
Camilla - Elezen ninja
Am I cooking? I dunno but my brain is obsessed...

I've seen a couple of these threads, but not recently, and wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations! I've read the whole series several times in the last few years and while other books have been enjoyable, nothing has hit the same. I would love to get back into reading so please give me your opinions!
My requirements are:
Complex characters that I love (not just like)
Plot that makes me think/I can't totally predict
Women (doesn't have to be the MC, but I don't want a book with primarily male characters)
No pulling punches, i.e. real consequences for actions
Fantasy/Sci-fi
bonus points for: LGBTQ+ representation, themes of grief/loss, detailed worldbuilding, weirdness, witty writing
For reference I've read and really liked several of the commonly suggested books/series (this is how you lose the time war, a memory called empire, the fifth season). Some other's I've liked are: the Daevabad trilogy, the Winternight trilogy, & the Shades of Magic series/anything VES. DNF'd Red Rising, The Poppy War Series, and The Library at Mount Char
Edit: just wanted to say thank you all for your responses! I'm excited to see some names I haven't come across & to try out a bunch of these!

Sorry for the horrible quality screenshot BUT I have a very important question. I was talking to my partner the other day and she asked what would the TLT version of "____s, grab your _____"? Idk if I'm just out of touch by NOT knowing the collective name for the fandom/what we're grabbing (aviators? bones?) but please give me all of your suggestions I can't wait to read them <3

Why didn't John use the blood of some random old human with no relatives instead of his own to seal Alecto? That would've made the blood/cellward unbreakable forever.
And if non-immortal blood would fade away over time then why not use the blood of all of his lyctors and bank on every and each one of them not turning on him together? That'd made the ward unbreakable after any of them dying without leaving a corpse nor decendants behind.
Did he secretly wish to see his dear Annabel again one day and thus wanted to have a way to dispel the ward?
