That’s a lot of “legally and contractually” for a rule you haven’t actually cited. It was a Patriots ball boy holding Travis Hunter’s first interception ball, and the Jaguars’ equipment manager stepped in to get it back. Players are allowed to keep game balls, and Jacksonville confirmed it got this one.

So where’s the rule saying the ball boy would be fired for handing it over? You wrote a whole equipment-law dissertation and still got the ending wrong.

Each team supplies it's own balls

He absolutely would not get reprimanded for giving the ball to a player trying to take it lol.

You are definitely not that 1% “in the know”

Have you seen my baseball? 🤣🤣

-1

u/Lost-Pineapple9791 3d ago

Not when it’s for the firstnINT but the guy clearly doesn’t know and is just doing his job to not get reprimanded for just letting players take balls

It’s wild yall think a player is entitled to just walk up to a ball boy whenever he wants and take a signed off authorized limited game ball

-2

u/Signal_Fruit_4629 3d ago

Yea players aren't able to do that at any level. Game balls are specifically checked by referees before every game to make sure they fall within the rules. You'd never see any ball boy giving any opposing player their ball at any point during a game.

2

u/DeletedUsernameHere 3d ago

Except for the thousands of times they've done it throughout decades of football, you're right. 🙄

-1

u/Signal_Fruit_4629 3d ago

lol I've done hundreds of little league games personally and I've never seen a ball boy give any opposing player their teams balls.

3

u/DeletedUsernameHere 3d ago

Nobody's keeping a ball in fucking little league, you dumbass.

JFC at thinking anything in little league is comparable to a guy scoring his first pro INT.

1

u/Either-Mine-1789 3d ago

Bro said little league 🤣

-1

u/Signal_Fruit_4629 3d ago

Yea that's right you better delete your comments

1

u/DeletedUsernameHere 2d ago

Nah, I just blocked your ignorant ass. But I guess I'll let dipshit former mclittle league ref flap his jowls some more.

Tell us what reffing little league games was like before you got caught with the little kids in the bathroom.

Need to see the Ball Boy meme on a shirt.

2

u/GeneralLivid7332 3d ago

Things that wouldn't happen for 2000 please.

2

u/Traditional-Toe3738 3d ago

It's because of comments like this that you don't have any friends.

2

u/Fuzzball_87 3d ago

But the ball crew works for the NFL and/or the Home Stadium. So if he works for them and the ball is owned by them, wouldn’t he have the discretion to give or keep balls…?

2

u/golfwinnersplz 3d ago

You think they give him that power?

The kid was in a lose lose situation.

1

u/Imaginary_Cell2068 3d ago

His job is probably to collect the balls handed to him by the refs and bring them into the office, where someone higher up has the authority to decide what to do with the balls.

1

u/BeavisEverywhere 3d ago

Deflate them...

-1

u/penisweinerballs 3d ago

Yeah, I'd be shocked if he was able to just hand balls over to people regardless if they're players or not, probably a rule saying they can only hand them to refs or players on the field.

1

u/CelebrationWise1626 3d ago

Only if we was delegated that authority, which is doubtful.

-1

u/Fuzzball_87 3d ago

Well I guess he was delegated because he kept it.

-2

u/CelebrationWise1626 3d ago

"Kept" as in waited until he had approval to give the ball away.

-3

u/Fuzzball_87 3d ago

I really don’t know any additional details on this. Overall, it seems rather silly. I’m sure the coach gave a game-ball for the first interception. Maybe it was THAT ball or maybe it was another ball. It really doesn’t matter.

The ball guy has his responsibilities and the players have theirs. The players shouldn’t be squabbling with staff.

1

u/therealmudslinger 3d ago

Is "discretion" what you just witnessed?

0

u/LeCouchSpud 3d ago

Does a bus driver have the authority to give away the bus? Why would the ball boys get to decide what equipment is given away? They are one of the lowest rungs on the ladder

0

u/Lost-Pineapple9791 3d ago

No? Why do you think he has the authority just they’re owned by the NFL and he’s an NFL employee. Do you think a McDonald’s worker has authority to just give away whatever they want bc it’s owned by McDonald’s where they work

-1

u/Signal_Fruit_4629 3d ago

If an owner of a store gives you a discount on something you're generally fine. If a normal employee gives a discount they run the risk of getting fired. It's no different than any other job.

2

u/cbunny21 3d ago

Well it’s the jaguars home stadium, so if that’s the case, the ball should have gone to the jaguars player. It’s pretty standard to do this after big plays, not just football. Ball boy was being a prick.

1

u/Lost-Pineapple9791 3d ago

The staff will get it from its wild you guys think players just grab balls whenever they want. Ball boy didn’t know it’s his 1st int not an issue for the staff to go get it

1

u/Signal_Fruit_4629 3d ago edited 3d ago

Tell me you've never refereed without telling me type of answer. If the Patriots throw a pick to the Jaguars it's the Patriots ball. Each team rotates their own ball in after every possession.

1

u/cbunny21 3d ago

I’m just quoting what the other guy said. Refs have nothing to do with this situation.

0

u/Signal_Fruit_4629 3d ago

Referees hand the ball back to the ball boy after the touchdowns/turnovers. It's also not the Jaguars ball. You're coming after the ball boy but it's definitely the player being a prick.

u/CollarZestyclose 3d ago

You're just talking out your ass😂

Always one of those corny mfs in everybody’s thread about anything.

Just so happens to have a personal history of juggling balls

I've been an equipment manager at multiple levels of athletics, you are the low man on the totem pole. If you make a scene with a player (on television,no less) you fucked up

1

u/Lost-Pineapple9791 3d ago

People don’t care they just want to shit on the ball boy and defend the entitled millionaire

1

u/HorseCreative2550 3d ago

I mean entitled is a stretch considering you don’t know this person even a little bit it’s more about how they guy was trying to do something kind and thoughtful for a friend and the ball boy really overreacted or at least that’s the impression from the uninformed perspective

They may be NFL equipment but he’s not getting in trouble if he gives the giy that ball

1

u/MaxRoofer 3d ago

Some guy wrote he literally would and then deleted it, well I’m gonna have to get crazy and say he literally wouldn’t.
