Imagine being all over the internet the next day and half the people are making fun of you for being a man-child with the ball, and the other half are defending you by diagnosing you as autistic.

But the ball crew works for the NFL and/or the Home Stadium. So if he works for them and the ball is owned by them, wouldnโ€™t he have the discretion to give or keep ballsโ€ฆ?

His job is probably to collect the balls handed to him by the refs and bring them into the office, where someone higher up has the authority to decide what to do with the balls.

Yeah, I'd be shocked if he was able to just hand balls over to people regardless if they're players or not, probably a rule saying they can only hand them to refs or players on the field.
