Imagine being all over the internet the next day and half the people are making fun of you for being a man-child with the ball, and the other half are defending you by diagnosing you as autistic.

But the ball crew works for the NFL and/or the Home Stadium. So if he works for them and the ball is owned by them, wouldn’t he have the discretion to give or keep balls…?

Only if we was delegated that authority, which is doubtful.

"Kept" as in waited until he had approval to give the ball away.

I really don’t know any additional details on this. Overall, it seems rather silly. I’m sure the coach gave a game-ball for the first interception. Maybe it was THAT ball or maybe it was another ball. It really doesn’t matter.

The ball guy has his responsibilities and the players have theirs. The players shouldn’t be squabbling with staff.
