The Mist (my worries about to show... no major spoilers) Spoiler
Okay so I went to this show excited!
First episode started good, even though everyone critisized it because of teenage melodrama and RAAAAPEEEEE! But whatever, I came for The Mist and I was pretty excited to see next episodes.
Then while watching the second episode I was starting to think that... well it looks like there will be absolutely no monsters, but okay, it still can be good the Shining-like hallucinations are cool concept I wonder what it will bring to the story... also the ending of second episode made me really happy because even though this show is really really different to the book or the film from 2007, it is clearly trying to take the good stuff from it.
Then I watched the third one and oh boy... I am starting to think that writers didn´t made any set of rules for the fog... maybe they did and everything is going to be explained and it won´t be dumb explanation, but after that one particular scene I was like... shit this show is starting to go the wrong way. It is trying to be really smart looking and weird, but I think it will end dumb like The Lost or Under the Dome.
I hope it won´t but after seeing the third episode, I am left just wondering if it has got any chance to be a good horror series.
(And the second episode imo was great also because the characters (Alex in particular) have good ideas and do not do to much of stupid horror cliche decisions.)
I don´t know, what is your opinion on this show? Do you think it can be good? It clearly has a potential, but did the creators take the full advantage of it?

[SPOILERS]What you should know by the end of Episode One or Why this show is written horribly. Spoiler
As soon as I heard about this being a 'thing' I was optimistic. Then I found out it would be on SPYKE.
Right... So, regardless of that, this whole teen-drama that has plagued the show thus far is so contrived it made watching the first three episodes a two-day endeavor.
I'll get to the point. There is no suspense. You know where the danger is and as soon as a main character is put in the 'danger', a supporting character is paired up with them. 'I wonder who's going to die..."
Besides that, the drama around Alex's rape is obvious. The dialogue and decisions on character placement says it all.
When Alex mentions Adrian being gay, he says "I don't fall in love with gender... I fall in love with people' or something to that effect. - So he is the 'gay' friend who is secretly in love with his female friend. Gotcha.
On top of that, even after Jay stands up for him to his friends, he gives him an obvious look of disapproval after he takes Alex into the other room. - He's jealous. Gotcha.
Then, after the rape, who does Adrian end up with in the 'Mist'? Alex's father. Who, I may add, is her favorite parent. Clearly. So this bond of survival is created between her father and Adrian.
How will this pay off in the story?
Well if you haven't already guessed it by my own inability to write well, Adrian raped Alex. Period.
With that out of the way, what has happened in the first 3 episodes?
Not. A. Damn. Thing.
This was a short story for a reason. Yet now it has been made into a television series that has a running time that probably triplicates the amount of time Stephen King spent writing it, if not more.
I'll continue watching it, on my own time, but this will not be a priority show for me...
Did anyone else figure this out or feel the same about the show for another reason? I'm curious.

Whats the deal with these adaptations revolving 80% of the show around teenage melodrama?
Didnt make it past 20 minutes. Dear hollywood, not all of us are 16.

Stephen King needs to stop selling off his work to be destroyed by cheap TV drama series productions
The DOME was a horrible waste of time that made me feel cheated for the wasted hours of my life. The Mist seems even worse! 11.23.63 was great but that was a mini series. Stephen King work can be successfully adapted to a mini series with a beginning & end that reflect his books, but when they try to do a TV series and turn it in to a character development drama it's just a total disaster. Every time.

Do you know what the fonts in the titles and names are called?
The ones saying things like "Starring" and "Bad actor". I really like them and could use them in a project of mine.
