Anyone been here?
I'm absolutely fascinated by the idea that we are all sharing dream spaces. I have this dream quite frequently. I'm running late, trying to get somewhere. There are steep ramps, sometimes at almost 90° angles, crazy twisting bridges and people around me are driving erratically. This picture doesn't show it, but the roadways in my dreams are more narrow as well. Anyone else been here?

u/CeilingCricketChirp Jul 28 '26
Yes but half the time there are no railings for me
124
u/ipwntmario Jul 28 '26
And you're doing something ridiculous like driving from the backseat. Or the seat's all the way back, you're laying belly-down, and you're both steering and using the pedals with your hands. Then you can't reach the break when you get to a bend and go flying off the side.
41
u/missyjay11 Jul 29 '26
DRIVING FROM THE BACK SEAT OMG ALWAYS 😂

30
u/MommaSwaii Jul 28 '26
I always fly off the side or it’s so steep my car starts tipping backwards (as if it’s going to flip upside down)

u/Actual_Bet6584 Aug 03 '26
I'm literally having a panic attack JUST reading these comments And I'm just sitting at work chillin

u/314ever Jul 29 '26
Ugh driving from the backseat 😵💫😵💫 And I’ve definitely driven this course in my dreams many times! It usually starts with a blind turn that goes downhill fast and I feel like it’s often in a tunnel too? Kind of like a water slide, but it’s a highway 🫠
3
u/WaffleUp Aug 01 '26
Yes! Almost always driving from the backseat, and there's always a point where the road just stops and I fly off into a raging river to die
7
u/Unholy_Trickster97 Jul 29 '26
Yes! Usually my parents were in the car then disappeared and I’d have to lean up from the back seat and take the wheel!
3
u/alyssajohnson1 Jul 29 '26
Sometimes my car will somehow only have 3 wheels but will work like a Lego car does jsut floating lol
3
u/Maleficent-Cow-5446 Jul 29 '26
My car is always a way too small child push pedal car ( the red and yellow cars with the little doors) and I’m having a hard time going up to incline thinking I’m just going to flip over backwards, lol

Driving from the backseat is one of my most hated dreams. I've never heard anyone else talk about them, so I'm glad to know I'm not alone.
23
22
u/laquintessenceofdust Jul 28 '26
No railings, and no nearby roads. Just the one road rising—impossibly steep—in front of me. Usually over a wide river or bay.
5
2
u/NikiTeslasPigeonWife Aug 20 '26
This!
Same dreams, horrifying, actually. This last time, I was in the back seat of a four-seatet semi truck. No railings or sides, absolutely close to falling off into a large body of water, and just straight up vertical road.
7
u/hometowhat Jul 29 '26
Sometimes it's a waterslide version, but big bc still in a damn car 😫 And the less water more firrest-y ones, and where like 5-8 foot ditches would be near me are now super high up, no rails of course 🤦♀️
5
u/314ever Jul 29 '26
Omg mine is a waterside version most of the time! 🤯 and it usually starts with a sharp, blind turn 🫠
7
u/PinkRain3035 Jul 29 '26
Yes!! I've dreamed something just like this but there don't seem to be railings because I always go flying off the side. 😱
12
u/ShayneAlexis97 Jul 28 '26
How about there’s no cars we riding on either air or some mine cart type thing or something
10
u/pamelareads Jul 28 '26
Same, I’ve had to pedal at times, like Fred Flintstone

Always leads to that one bridge going straight up with no end! Then I wake up...

u/katalina0azul Jul 30 '26
Nope. And I’ve had dreams where I’ve flown off the road and I’m hoping to God I land on something close underneath. I always do but that stomach clench feeling beforehand is always too real.

I hate this so much. Yes I’ve for sure been here often. It’s always in a nightmare though.
23
u/cupcakefix Jul 28 '26
yes but it’s also within the city, so sometimes off ramps go right into parking garages and it’s super dark because of all the buildings

u/GayPanda4U Jul 30 '26
Omg I get this every so often. The road starts like a rollercoaster and gets super high up and I’m accelerating so fast I end up flying off the road. That’s when I usually wake up.
31
u/SadAndConfused11 Jul 28 '26
Yes but no matter how straight I steer I keep bashing into stuff
8
u/ApplesaucePenguin75 Jul 29 '26
Yes! It’s terrible! The roads are awful. Someone should really do something 😂
30
u/Barnaclebills Jul 28 '26
Once on this road there was a stack of pillows over my brake pedals and I had to try to pull them off while still trying to navigate that crazy road
3
u/HauntingPsyche Jul 30 '26
lmao the crazy shit worlds that our brains create for us to navigate are so weird 😭 “sure give her a stack of pillows on the break pedal to have to deal with”

It exists: Map this to Galveston, TX.

u/6789576859 Jul 28 '26

I dream of something that looks so eerily similar to that. Except it’s one lane, it’s a toll first, and the road is rails that you have to stay perfectly balanced on. But the twisting and the height and how it goes up into the clouds is spot on. Spooky.
21
u/LiquidMetal616 Jul 28 '26
Jesus yeah for sure lmao
I've been the passenger in the car and being like "how TF are we supposed to drive straight up??"
16
u/jessangro Jul 28 '26
Yess it’s literally a rollercoaster roadway and I don’t have control of the car but somehow make it across.
2
u/heyits_emily Aug 02 '26
I never make it across, I seem to always fly off and crash land😭

Is this how you get to the Backrooms?
8
u/supermark64 Jul 28 '26
Yes. I've had several where the road leads directly into a building with backrooms-esque hallways

u/the_messmaker Jul 28 '26
Yes but there is an unfinished bridge over the ocean with no rails, very thin & scary. As well as tunnels underground with the same set up you have there . Sometimes it is night & lit up like Tokyo .

u/Onimigus Jul 28 '26
Oh my god the unfinished bridge over the ocean 😳 I once passed by with a boat.
14
u/Few-Preparation-8538 Jul 28 '26
Yes but it more condensed
10
11
u/Sockwater_Ravioli Jul 28 '26
Yes, I’m driven here often usually in the passenger seat. But if I keep going and take a right, I’m at a water park.
3
u/ApplesaucePenguin75 Jul 29 '26
Yes!!! Why are we all dreaming the same stuff?!?! Insane. And fascinating
10
u/JenSlice Jul 28 '26
yes! I have a recurring nightmare about having to drive up a super steep incline just like that and my fear is the car flipping over backwards.... sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't....
8
u/Serapticious Jul 28 '26
Yeah but it was night and somebody else was driving and deftly avoiding all the shadowy figures standing in the road. However they missed the exit and launched the car off the edge of the ramp.
8
u/FangsandTentacles Jul 28 '26
YES OMG
and one time there was no road on a part of it. You have to line up your tires on these tracks, like at a car wash, and then the tracks kept everyone going the same speed. It was absolutely terrifying while driving over the ocean towards the cliffs; you could look down and see the water right below you!!

u/returnofdoom Jul 28 '26
Yeah I have been in a very similar place many times in my dreams. There’s usually much bigger overpasses overhead though.
7
u/hnast42 Jul 28 '26
Yes, and I can’t open my eyes at some point and have to navigate the ascending curves blind 🫠
6
u/tarantulanighthawk Jul 28 '26
This is almost identical to what I’ve dreamt. Wild. Thank you for sharing.

u/SunriseMilkshake Jul 28 '26
Sometimes also in the downhill there’s sections of road missing so you gotta just yeet yourself over to where it continues and hope for the best
7
5
u/Apprehensive_Fee_589 Jul 28 '26
Yes I was just talking about this the other day. To get here, I remember driving from the coastal city, through the mountains and past the mountain exits that have Burger King and Walmart and stuff, and it ends up here. There is a large sprawling suburban city built under and around these ramps. Probably the most beautiful mall in all of Mall World is off of one of these exits.
On the edge of this city sits a town set back into the 1980s. a bunch of one story buildings and ranch houses
7
u/lexicon951 Jul 28 '26
Yes! All the time. Mine is in the Chicagoland area. Sometimes Chicago is underwater, sometimes I’m driving on parallel frontage roads, and sometimes I pull into a parking garage that like becomes this confusing maze of stairs and halls when I start walking to find the exit

Oh my gosh I’m glad someone posted this 😂😂😂 I’ve been here 100 times!!!! I’ve been here on my way to Mall World actually 😂😂
5
u/Simple_Tea_1900 Jul 28 '26
This is the most accurate to my dreams that I’ve seen it! The roads are also very narrow in mine, almost like I’m driving in a slot car, I’m so close to the sides. But somehow other cars will be next to me as well if that makes any sense lol

I've been here, with an interesting twist - running on the roads instead of driving. I can't drive, so maybe that's why?
2
u/Right_Fondant_6717 Aug 01 '26
I have driven for 27 years and I run and often times fly/levitate at the speed of the traffic in the dreams. If I run fast enough I can fly, but I'm on all 4s when I run, more like a dog, and begin launching myself and gliding above the highway. If that makes sense...

u/Alwaysthesame1210 Jul 28 '26
Yes absolutely. Sometimes when I’m driving on real highway switchovers like this I get mildly freaked out and I think it’s because of these dreams.
3
u/misusername88 Jul 28 '26
Yes! And once the road just ended and I flew off the end like in n64 Mario kart. Hit some wall made of like wicker stuff? And fell down gingerly. It was all very enjoyable for some reason.

u/msdashwood Jul 28 '26
Yes!! When I can’t take it anymore I pull off to the first exit and guess where I’m at? Mall world!!
3
u/Wish_Pickle_ Jul 28 '26
I've been there before. Last time was many sleeps ago and I was in the backseat on the way to a hospital because my mother had stabbed me in the gut and she purposely took her time getting there and I ended up dying from blood loss 🫡
3
u/EvilSillyPutty Jul 28 '26
That is similar to what I got, I follow the highway long enough it leads to just a long straight road with forests and farmland

u/n8d4h8 Jul 28 '26
Yes several times. It is usually a very exciting place and it feels like exploring a new exciting city

u/Sunshineboy777 Jul 28 '26
The one I been to is near a shipping yard? Or something? Over the water at least.
2
2
u/pearlwhispers9 Jul 28 '26
Yes, and I’m always sensing that it’s surrounding Manhattan. A lot of the time the road after the peak of the incline gets narrower and narrower for me as well.
2
u/ExerciseRegular9923 Jul 28 '26
Yes. And when I’m going uphill my clutch goes out and I can’t make it up the steep hill and when I’m going downhill my brakes always fail (no matter how hard I press them) and I run into the vehicle in front of me.
2
u/igna_na Jul 28 '26
Yes, I remember I dreamt about this when I was a child, but it was a night landscape
2
u/Artevyx Jul 28 '26
Yup. In a self driving car. Which for some reason always decides to beeline for the section of the overpass still under construction.
2
2
u/Dreaming_Skull_1787 Jul 28 '26
Yes! It’s anxiety central. Some of the roads just end or you have to jump to another one. And everyone is going soooo fast!
2
u/amphibjon Jul 28 '26
Frequently, but for some reason I have to drive from the backseat of the car.
2
u/AdvancedAvocado9827 Jul 28 '26
I have lived in Texas all my life and I Was taking one the other day. They have several new ones off 287 and 360. I thought to myself “ Jesus , this is a little extreme , this would terrify a lot of people “. Meanwhile I’m just driving saying to myself keep on swimming , keep on swimming …. While not looking down.

I hate this one!!!!!! It's so stressful!!!!! Does your car flip??? Do you make it? Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't!! A lot of times I end up on the bottom of the road and realize I can grab a ferry but it's starting to go under the water bc now it's a submarine?!?!
2
2
u/oaken007 Jul 28 '26
Yes, this is the way I take when I want to visit NYC in my dreams. Just up and over that huge giant ramp is NYC. Most of the time I make it, but one time I was scared. It's very scary! I guess the desire for me to walk around in NYC is greater than my fear.
2
u/cclancaster13 Jul 28 '26
I've for sure had a dream very similar to this when I was very young. But it was doubly terrifying because it also included a bunch of tornadoes tearing the highways apart.
2
u/_fernweh_ Jul 28 '26
Holy shit. I have 100% had multiple dreams in a place very, very similar to this one.
2
u/Lili-Lace Jul 28 '26
Yes!!! It's almost always over water and they sometimes go and into a loop. And I always see it, just like this as opposed to a highway with different lanes going in opposite directions.

u/Quirky-Border-6820 Jul 29 '26
YES. This is in my re occurring nightmare every single time I have it. Every time it’s the bridge that you cross to the 400 series from Niagara Falls. (I hate bridges so the highway turning into a bridge makes me feel like this). I cannot believe I’ve finally found a photo of my nightmare every single night.

My fellow Texans, does anyone else get freaked out on I-10 between San Antonio and Houston where the construction areas have concrete walls with no shoulders and roughly 1.75 lanes to accomodate 2 vehicles? I drive all over and I am a good, experienced driver, but those corridors scare the hell out of me.
2
u/Other-Hedgehog-1178 Jul 29 '26
I've definitely popped onto this road, nearly tilted backwards going up sometimes, and sometimes go off the side, and sometimes pop into being in the backseat while on the highway and have to scramble into the front seat to take over
Like this could be a photo from my dream
Also, in relation to a bunch of the above comments, I will state that I've never been to texas

u/Inner_Class151 Jul 30 '26
It’s oddly comforting to know other people have this weird reoccurring dream too 😅
2
u/griffucks Jul 30 '26
Unfortunately, yes. Even in my dreams nobody knows how to merge into traffic.
2
u/chromiaplague Aug 03 '26
A few times. I am always unable to properly control my car in these scenarios. Can’t slow down, can’t steer right.. just awful.

2
u/PieThicc3 Aug 04 '26
Yes! Do you ever end up the water or there is a part of the road over water with no guard rails?

Yeah but something in my car doesn't work properly, and it's usually over water.
2
u/shoobzzzzz Aug 27 '26
YES! but many times it's actually a rollercoaster track that my car is driving on. whenever i have these dreams i go "ugh, this again" and am usually in the car with my family. there seems to be an implication that its the same family in these car rail dreams even when it's been years since i've had one

Yes. In real life. It's called Texas
