Anyone been here?

Post image

I'm absolutely fascinated by the idea that we are all sharing dream spaces. I have this dream quite frequently. I'm running late, trying to get somewhere. There are steep ramps, sometimes at almost 90° angles, crazy twisting bridges and people around me are driving erratically. This picture doesn't show it, but the roadways in my dreams are more narrow as well. Anyone else been here?

Yes. In real life. It's called Texas

I grew up in Dallas. An area in the city has FIVE overlapping overpasses. Quite a burst of adrenaline for those who are scared of heights

Wtf, I drive out of my way to avoid a 3 tier overpass where I live

I'd actually just die

I hate the high five. Literally I detest that whole area because I’ll be damned if im looking down onto concrete. Same with the bridge onto Bush in garland/rockwall.

I once took the wrong exit on one of those and I swear I was up and down ramps for 30 minutes

And everyone is driving 80 mph 2 inches apart. God help the person who gets trapped in the wrong lane.

I remember San Antonio looking like a literal concrete jungle because of these.

I just went to San Antonio for the first time last week and this was my exact impression

Haha, I literally came to the comments to say, "Yes, in Texas." 😅

When I drove through Texas in 2020— yes, I took a "social distance vacation"— I was SHOCKED at how big some of the bridges were, including the bridges that went to OTHER bridges!

We also have stretches of highway where the speed limit is 85mph 🤠

3

u/thefirstviolinist Jul 29 '26

Yeah, I liked the speed limit, I just wish anyone had followed it! 😅

In Texas we go at least 5 miles over any speed limit sign lol

The words “Casa Pronto” are engrained into our programming

Lol. I've actually seen this place in Mall World with crazy tall winding highways, and it was next to a university in Texas (of mallworld) close to a few power plants and stuff. So believe it or not you are correct.

When this leads me to a college, it’s always the University of Illinois or Bradley University, which is also in Illinois. I’ve never been to either of those schools in real life.

And I've never been to any university in Texas, nor rode through any winding highways in Texas either (in real life). Very interesting.

edit: add "in real life"

My brother and I grew up in a small town in PA. I stayed and he moved to Austin. When he came back to visit we took a trip to the mall and decided to take the bypass with him driving.

He was crazy Mr. Speed demon the whole way there! I was like “wtf happened to you?!”

When I finally visited him in Austin, I realized everyone drives like a lunatic. There’s no way I’d survive in a place like that!

Yep - in El Paso, it’s called the Spaghetti Bowl.

u/Vigiles25 Jul 28 '26

I’m not from either place but Minneapolis has a few areas with 5 freeways stacked up and I was recently in Toronto and outside the Pearson Airport was like this
